- once again, no online for 3DS version
- Tri servers will be shut down eventually
- didn't want to shut them down until players could move onto a new game
- most likely will not be able to transfer Wii save to 3DS or Wii U
- uses Nintendo's servers for online
- not sure on regional servers yet
- Capcom USA waiting on Wii U builds to play
- no word on transferring Japanese 3DS save to the NA 3DS build
- highly unlikely that 3DS will get online
- shouldn't be any differences in content between the two games

Araujo on the long time it takes to localize Monster Hunter game…

“No, we don’t enjoy seeing you suffer… Localization is just one of those things that takes time and a lot of strategy. For one, it’s not just translation. Plus, we wanted to deliver a title that had full online multiplayer integration (Wii U), and that took a lot more development. But now we can offer you MH3U on the Wii U, with HD graphics, online, save-sharing with the 3DS version… that’s all awesome stuff – but it all takes time.”

Svensson on additional Wii U support…

- subtle differences in feature set of Ultimate from the original Japan release of 3G
- no official bundles in states
- may feature soft bundle purchase option within the Capcom Store

I have a question: now the Wii U service will work with accounts like xbox and PS3 work right? if thats so... If I want to do a Player Search do I need the account name or the character name like in Monster hunter tri?

Shadow,

You repeat yourself a bit but:

#1: it was always expected that the Tri servers were going to be shut down. Luckily they waited until we had a game in the west. The fact that these serves will be Nintendo servers spacific to the the company the game is going to be on the system for is a good thing. Nintendo also is quicker at updating servers and fixing problems than many 3rd party companies. They have been very quick with 3DS updates so far.

#2: since the WiiU has online and the point of the 3DS is to play MHU while traveling and to get the special DLC quests while ou and about then transfer your character to the WiiU once you get home and play online, having online on the 3DS is a bit pointless and nitpicking. also you still have local multiplayer so you can still play with friends who have a WiiU or 3DS.

#3: Wii saves? What would be the point of transfering the Tri data to MHU? It's technically a new game on a new (2 new) systems. Not just an update. Also MHU on both the 3DS and WiiU use Capcoms MT Framework where Tri did not which also may make data transfer a bit difficult. And then to add the large numbers of people that are HR999 in Tri... It'd make it almost pointless to get MHU since they'd be just about completed with the game.

#4: since it's Nintendos servers we might actually get to play across regions. We already do on most 3DS games with online.

#5: People who are saying that MHU and both the 3DS and WiiU versions will be the same as MH3G in Japan are just speculating. This has not yet been confirmed and like those who just a week ago were saying we would not be getting any monster hunter games in the west any more is just negative assumption.

Capcom has apparently been listening more than we realized and one of the things people have been asking for since 3G in Japan was released was the addition of the few p3rd monsters that were left out. MHU is a great opertunity for that to happen along with a few other things Capcom Japan and USA has said in past statements they would like to see in the next western release of MH. So until there is a solid announcement that no additions have been made and that both versions are the same, learn from recent experiences and don't count them out.

The across region play are probably true, since you can play Smash, Mario Kart, Pokemon and all those games even with Japanese people, but... if thats happening then the survers would be massive.

I cant imagine myself getting in a city where I cant understand what are they talking about (thankfully in the US server almost everyone speak spanish or english) cuz I dont know german, or worst, what if they start typing kanji?

My guess is that they will separate the servers just like capcom did.
Why this if every other of nintendo games work worldwide?
cuz in this game, comunication is required

Nintendo's servers? I hope they've made some upgrades since Brawl. Yeah, in Tri, I DC'd a lot. But I totally prefer that to playing in jittery slo mo.

If I remember correctly most Wii games didn't have servers, the Wii itself became the host and dealt with all the serving processes which made many games UNPLAYABLE because of the lag involved.

Having servers is extremely lucky when it comes to Nintendo, we should be lavishing them with praise about it.

I can't remember the name of the Japanese company that ran the Tri servers but I think the Nintendo servers are based in each region making them a bit more reliable for each region.... But I don't know the full details on that. From playing HoR, Kid Icarus and other 3DS games even on my slow Internet I can say I've never had any difficulty on those games and they use the Nintendo servers.

And what Jadder says is correct, until the 3DS a lot of the Nintendo games really didn't rely on servers of their own. Or at least not fully.

From personal experience the EU servers were always based some where in Europe. Tri had a system where monster reactions were based on who entered the room first.

For example when 3 Australians are playing along with 1 French person and the French person gets into the monster area first it means that the Australians will not be able to see the monster correctly, it will just teleport and animation cancel all over the place.

I think the Tri servers only deal with the Loc Lac section, when you actually embark on a quest the server places responsibility on local processing from the Wii which is assigned to the first person who 'enables' the monster. All small monsters/fishing spots/mining locations are also dealt with locally.

I'll have to look into it more later, especially with Ultimate. I should be able to trace the server locations and figure out the best people to play with.

Speaking of which, is Ultimate region locked for online play again?

They have not said yet. Capcom USA is actually looking into this as many here have asked. Ther main concern everyone needs to keep in mind is that Nintendo will want the most efficient servers and th ones that can handle the most users with the least amount of problems. (they don't want to have the same issues Sony has had so many times) So Nintendo will if possible (and likely) allow everyone to play together if it does not slow the servers and they can be easily fixed if a problem arises.

I have not looked much into MH3U, but I'm guessing its not gonna be so "ultimate" because of the disappointment from Ultimate Capcom vs Marvel 3. Mhu will probably have the exact set up as mh3 with maybe3 new monsters, and 2 new stages ._. I hope cashwhores capcom provides us with rich content.

While i can't judge about the rest of capcom's franchises (besides the fact that i don't like the recent RE's), 3U is likely to have AT LEAST the content from triG (about 3 times as much monsters as tri). With the fact that people have been crying for ANY western release for quite a while now, i don't think that capcom really qualifies for being cashwhores? They're pretty much demons though, i'll give you that ;).

Like Win said, there's three times as many monsters and it's a western release... BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! A list of some new things we get in MHU
-Kayanba, a new shakalaka companion
-The re-inclusion of bows, gunlances, hunting horns and dual swords
-G rank
-A crap ton more weapons
-CHAINSAW LONGSWORD

Basically MHU is/will be the full collection of everything mh up to this point. (not including whatever mh4 will have of course)

So yea to a point you can consider Monster Hunter Ultimate (the Ultimate MH collection) for everything generation 1-3.... Just about.

^ with that said I'm not rejoicing completely over anything yet, with capcoms recent 'release now, ask questions later' attitude with their series lately. Theres gotta be some catch here just loafing around in the mist.

I'll be prepared for whatever that x-factor is...

still great news to hear a new MH will migrate over here now to the west.

^ Sad thing is... They have actually provided an explanation to all of their "Negative" behaviors... With MH P3rd it turned out to be Sony not Capcom at fault for it not making it to the west.. With the delay in MH3G and the lack of news it turned out to be because they (and Nintendo) had to wait until they could announce it for the west because up the WiiU and the West getting both games at the same time...

And now that all that has passed Capcom (USA especially) has been pretty open with providing information on Monster Hunter here in the west with what they know and even Capcom Japan has said that as time gets closer to release they will give us a lot more information than before.

Now, I for one would like to think that they (Capcom) are trying to make up for they way they treated the West and the MH series here in the past but only time will tell. If this is true, they are off to a good start.

ShadowCeadeusDM324: Even 3G in Japan aside from missing a few things has just about more than any other MH game currently out (not counting MH Online). As far as the portable and home console game 3G has the most monsters/weapons/armors/areas out of any MH game so far...

As far as the western release of MHU and the WiiU versions... There is no confirmation if the (Very few) monsters that were in P3rd that were left out of 3G will be in it or not..

But even before MHU's announcement Capcom achknowledged that there were some popular monsters left out of 3G such as Tigerex....

So there is still a chance we can see a few additional monsters in MHU that were not in 3G in Japan and even if we don't Monster Hunter Ultimate compared to any other "Home Console/Handheld" game released thus far is in fact yes the "Ultemate" rendition of the MH series so far as it does offer the most content so far overall..

Yes MHFU had 81 monsters compared to 3G's known 72... but keep in mind that MHU is 2 games with cross platform play and is still yet unreleased and as such "COULD" still offer additional content. And also keep in mind that #'s of monters isn't the full deciding factor in amount of content as well.

In the end however... We really have to wait until March to see how truely "ULTIMATE" Monster Hunter Ultimate is...

Also I don't think Monster Hunter: Utopia would quite have worked out so well for the monsters... ;)

Unleashed, Ultimatum, Ultima, Unparalleled, Universe, Union, Unison, Unchained, Ultra, Ultimata, Unequalled, Uprising, ect.

Not complainingabout the current name, but something more epic and non cliché sounding wouldn't hurt either.
