Does anyone knows how exactly this weapons work? I watched couple videos and it looks like you will have to hit monsters to fill up the coating and once they fill up you can change into axe and use the gauge you charged. I like the idea but so far it doesn't look too much fun. And I haven't seen a gameplay of it where they use shield to block the attack, can you do that with charge axe?

In this video the charge axe is used to block (or hide behind) around 1:48.

I also think the axe mode is similar to switch axe sword mode, in that you need to charge the weapon while fighting in its weak form to change into the powerful form for a limited time.

So... It's a switch axe clone? But I guess that is cool, before, if you were a longsword user, using the switch axe you could use your normal weapon and change it to a sword at a whim, not S&S users get the same!
