FF7 is 5th Gen. The original is 3rd.

I meant next-gen as in I was playing the new xbox console, then went straight to ff7 which was on Playstation when it came to NA.

Yeah, I bought FF8 yesterday as well, I just beat it a few months ago for the first time. It’s a pretty sweet game with the Junction system. Can’t wait for the FFX/FFX-II HD remakes. Idk why they get a remake before FF7, I mean they’re good..but cmon..TWO??

Can't really say FF7 was a remake. It was a pretty poor one if it was.
It was quite literally the original PC version of the game wrapped in the Steam UI and overlay.
So you got the other soundtrack version, and some tidier sprites. They should have done some more work on the backdrops, made it work well in 16:9, and make it look acceptable when stretched in 1920x1080 and above.

I agree. But I meant a complete remake of FF7. The PC version is just a smoother version of the original imo. And it works pretty good using an Xbox controller. One thing I really dig about Final Fantasy being on Steam is the acheivements.

I could barely get through FF7 the first time that rip off game was released... no way could I play through it a second time.. I mean seriously, it wasn't even the first game writen to be FF7 because Xenogears was too dark and they decided to put a new team on it and made FF7 and the new team took bits and pieces of the XB script (which they used out of context) and dindn't even use as good of graphics or story telling in the game.... ... ugghhh...

Any ways rant being over and all.. Seriously Just out of curiosity did you get an acheivement for turinging on the game? .. I mean that would be something so difficult that only a few people could acheive and you'd need to be awarded for it! WTH?!! Acheivements!... "Congradulations! You pushed the 'Start' button for the first time"! ughhhh I have a head ache..

On to XB1.. Good console I do like the games it has out at launce.. just not the fact that they chose to have many of them innative 720p resolution or dropped a lot of the features they originally spoke about for the longest time to keep the cost down.. but both other systems did that as well so it was to be exspected.

Now to FF8.. I liked that game

The acheivements are actually pretty simple. Like complete disc 1,2,3 etc; an acheivement for every final limit break for each character, getting people to level 99, getting the max gil (which is hard as fuck if you do it legit), and some other acheivements. but nothing too complex like turning the game on xD

Well the first thing I did was change my resolution on my xbox1 to 1080p, I got Battlefield 4 and Dead Rising 3, then downloaded Killer Instinct, Xbox Fitness (my shit right now). So far everything is pretty nice, BF4 has some major issues, so Im playing DR3 now till thats fixed. Really good buy though.

^ I like it overall.. a few things I still wish they had done with it (like ditched the monthly fees) but ehh it's not as bad as the PS4's wisdom in some ways and a few other things here and there.

Dead rising is nice but still 720p even if you have every thing set to 1080... But back on topic.

FF7, I still have my original copy and look at it with much hate from time to time. Other than being rewarded for walking forward the first time ;) are their any other changes?

Do you have one of the original copies where the game would always freeze at the last battle? That copy is an antique lol. Now I am playing the digital version that was released on PSN, I had purchased it on Steam the other week when it was on sale for $4.99, but I'm playing it on PSPPS3 atm. There isn't any big changes that would really make a difference, the soundtrack was fixed though.

^ I haven't checked the Vita store in a few weeks. Never even tried to see what all FF games were on there. Honestly, went straight to Xenogears and the Persona games.... I guess I'll look and see if FF7 is downloadable for the vita as well... and yeas the copy I have does freeze.

The PSN has a lot of FF games. I've downloaded 7-9, all of which are or have been on my PSP (as well as Xenogears).

Ah, that sucks. I have a copy of that one too, then the edition that actually works, and digital on PC and PSN.

The PSN has all Final Fantasy games from 1 to 9 on the various consoles.
1,2,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 are all PS1 Classics. 1,2,3 and 4 are also PSP releases.
Pretty awesome, and once FFX HD comes out that'll be 1 to 10.

And not straying too far off Final Fantasy. I got Bravely Default on Friday (UK ftw) and it is awesome :D
It's what I've been wishing for in a new Final Fantasy and it isn't even a proper Final Fantasy.
Ninja are overpowered against certain bosses, Brave - Attack & Utsusemi with Turn Tables, Comeback Kid and Transcience abilities vs Single boss that only does Physical = You are invincible.
I made this video, don't worry there are no spoilers, the dragon is an optional boss and is unrelated to the main story.
