PostSubject: Lucent help   Lucent help Icon_minitimeThu Apr 24, 2014 11:33 am

I purchased mh3u for the sole purpose of fighting lucent narg, and creating mizar's asterism. Now that I have soloed my way to hour 35, I grow impatient of 5 more hours. I bypassed this and downloaded the quest from online, so i can mainstream this process to kill ala ASAP.

I created the kebi bow set with helios x giving me earplugs, awaken, marathon runner, and partbreaker, but I do not have the chest leaving me at 282 defense.

^ I created this set & weapon simply to kill lucent, but he legit 2 shots me. I also have spectral demolishers and the helios y giving me crit +2, sharpness +1 and HGE.

Suggestions thoughts concerns?

Legit im open to any advice, I would consider myself an old mh player, and im willing to hear out any suggestion or tip.

Any help is welcome!

The DLC Lucent Narga is a much stronger version of the normal one, so you're making it harder on yourself. Slime also isn't the greatest for soloing considering how much HP this version has. The threshold for explosions will just grow bigger and bigger until it takes way too long to set one off by yourself.

I would continue to play up to the normal version so you have some better equipment.

^ Agreed and a better solo weapon as well.

The kelbie bow is a support or group weapon not really a solo slime weapon.

Is Bow your main weapon.. and is MH3U your first MH game It sounds like Tri may have been and you seem to go through the games a little quickly. (nothing wrong with that everyone has their own style).

Anyways, is glowing narga is your only goal get a weapon that exploits his weakness and an armor set that boost your own playing skills.

A skill I always use with the Kelbi Bow (If you want to continue to use it) is Evasion +1/2. I feel with the bow's already good maneuverability, evasion is a really great skill to have. Especially against Nargacuga and it's sub-species. Once I got to know it's attacks fairly well, I could sometimes go an entire fight without getting hit. Solo'ing the L. Narga with a Kelbi Bow isn't necessarily the best way to go, but as long as you have Focus, Bombardier, Awaken, Tenderizer, and Evasion +2 like I have, you should be able to hit it's face with your Lvl3 Rapid Charge Shot thingy over and over, eventually killing it.

The kelbi Bow has pretty good raw damage considering the amount of slime it can get. It's raw gets severely overlooked, and can actually allow you to solo most monsters, if you pummel their weak spots with you 3rd charge shot. You can actually use the skills Tenderizer, Focus, Awaken, and Normal/Rapid Up to solo tons of monsters. And Evasion if you can get it.

Kelbi bow is decent solo weapon. Even lv1 charge spam strategy works well. Look how this guy killed 2 Savege Jhos in 12 minutes.

^ decent.. but not one I would still recomend as a solo.. Also it really depends on the players personal skill level. I can go online and find a video of someone using just about any weapon killing something and doing it in an amazing way making the weapon look amaazing.. That does not mean the weapon is amazing. (like my use of amazing?) That just means the Hunter is skilled with that weapon and I found a good video. I could probably find one proving the opposite as well.

The Bamboo Bow is a good example. Lots of people write it off as a bad weapon to use. But with the right armor set and skills and using it correctly it's actually quite a good weapon. But again I wouldn't suggest most people using it.

The good thing about the Kelbi is that it is pretty much the only bow that lets you have all coatings without using skill slots (i think there is one other as well).

But overall... If he is using bow's I would go for something that has powercoatings, High attack and the element L.Narga is weak to along with the armor to boost it.

Bamboo bow is amazing on Silver Los/Gold Ian and pretty good on Brachy. And that's pretty much all. On anythin else is got easily outclassed. People generally like to have one generic weapon for each class because they hate weapon swaping. They often call Bamboo bad weapon to use because it's not great on anything unlike slime or raw.

Sand Barioth bow has nearly all coatings except slime and something else. But para/sleep/power is there. Also it got natural Lv4 charge so no need of load up - something that Kelbi just can't pull off without the certain skill.

Forward, I gave up on bowing him, the repeated x tap is frustrating and lacks reward. I am rocking spectral demolishers with HGE, sharpness +1, evasion +1. The problem im having now is that I run out of potions.

I think I will just wait till I can kill reg L.Narg. But atm im rocking a helios set for blademasters, any suggestions for end game content using L.Narg weps, besides Dire?

And for my play level, I have played all of the PsP MH games, and before I was unable to kill Deviljho they shut down tri live. So now im here with my dick in my hands playing Mh3u trying to solo abyssal. I did run through the game at a faster than normal speed, since my two goals were deviljho and L.Narg, that being said i have all the time in the world to farm and kill these fuckers, so armor sets are greatly appreciated for DS/ SA.

Any help or advice is welcome and appreciated!

You used the term exploit his weakness. Are you refering to elemental dmg, weapon type, or other wep attributed like affinity and sharpness?

Also Evasion +1 negates most skill when fighting monsters like Narg, its just like game over.

A little of all that. He's weakest to ice and Dragon and deals poision. Weapons with Purple Sharpness and the skill "Minds Eye" work well on him as his head and chest are tougher than the regular and green narga and anything else will bounce off. When enraged however blue and white sharpness won't deflect regardless.

Standard earplugs are all you need to block his roar. I would actually suggest having chacha and kyamba have this as their skills and saving the space for another skill for you. Though they may not do it all the time it might be enough.

Pitfall traps don't work on it but you can cap it with shocks and to help see him while invisible use dung bombs and felvine bombs because the fumes can't be hidden when it's invisible.

^ those are just some weakness exploits.. a few anyways some others are the way it moves and gives tells on the attacks it's going to do.

Huh?

By the way. If you are looking for a good Swax/Swax armor set, The Ceadeus Swax and a set with Expert +3, Evasion +1, and Sharpness +1 is fairly easy to get. And it slaughters anything due to the high amount of raw.

As for DS, a set with evasion +1, Challenger +2, and Sharpness +1 will work fine.

The main thing when it comes to beating the L. Nargacuga is knowing it's moves well enough that you can sometime go the entire fight without getting hit (With evasion of course).

For a Miralis set, does Challenger stack with AuL?

Yes it does.. But it only works when the monster is enraged and with Challenger +2 it only adds 25 points of attack but 20% affinity is pretty nice.

Which is why, with a bowgun, that +25 attack is pretty cool.

I was going to try to solo Miralis once using heroics. With some armor with challenger +2, Latent power and some other skills. I then found out that Latent Power and Challenger +2 don't stack. So there went my Dreams of solo'ing the Miralis in about 5 minutes.

If you're considering using SWAX I'd suggest event one with Power Phial and ice element. It got good raw and 3 slots so you can make some good sets. As E&Troy said CE+3, Sharpness+1, Evasion+1 is very solid combo. For Lucent fight I always bring in Evasion+1, because poison is annoying and I'm not that good to avoid spikes without it. But I'm pretty sure it's possible. I often go for hammer, but SWAX/LS/DS is probably the best choice for Lucent.
