| So it's that time again when I actually get back into 3U for a bit and look for new things to do. This time I need an ULTIMATE grongigas hammer set. I know probably ALL the skills I want won't be possible but here's a list of the skills I do want if possible:
Awaken Sharp+1 Bombardier Partbreaker KO King (or whatever it's called) and if possible High Grade Earplugs.
I know often the Grongigas hammer is paired with the helios/selene X armor but I'm wondering if this really is the best combo or if there's way to get more.
If anyone has an armor generator link or just outright recommendation, that'd be great. Also I'm in Charm table 10 if that helps as I'm sure a specific charm is needed.
So yeah, any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I'm sure I've actually asked this question before but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the forum for some reason, trying to get back into hammering things like Alatreon G rank and I want the ultimate hammer for it.
EDIT: Forgot to put Awaken as a skill lol.

| Hmm thanks. Is Bombardier all that great? I heard elsewhere that for Grongigas it only gives like 80 more slime on the weapon. Is this true and if so, can I just ditch it for say:
Awaken Sharp+1 Partbreaker KO King High Grade Earplugs?
Is that kind of set viable or possible?

I don't think you searched for sets in his charm table which is 10. Nova, Awaken Partbreaker Sharp+1 KO King HGE Helios Cap X Helios Mail Z Helios Vambraces X Helios Coil X Helios Greaves X ----------------- +5 Handicraft O-- ----------------- 2x KO Jewel 2 4x KO Jewel 1 there were some others with Handi +4 OO but u would have Demonic Blessing.

| Handicraft+5 comes from weathered charms. Charm Tables 3 and 9 don't have a slot to gem with Handicraft+5 charms. (neither do the cursed tables, of course.) Charm Table 6 has a Handicraft+5 charm with two slots. | |

The hell is a "weathered charm"? Also as stated before, I'm in table 10 Also, Pain, I just realized the last set you recommended uses a Gunner cap...that's gonna massively lower my defense on a set for melee that isn't using any Evasion skills. That's very risky...what's that sets max defense?

| First of all Partbreaker is not worth it, as with that hammer you'll break parts easily thanks to slime. Second, KO King is totally useless skill in this game. - GaijinHunter wrote:
- The KO King skill will increase your KO damage by 10%. So taking for example Rathian, you will do 44 stun damage instead of 40. Keep note that is still takes 4 hits to bring her down because her starting stun threshold is 150 (44*3 = only 132).
KO skill starts to come into play after the first KO. For example, Rathian’s threshold increases to 300 after the first KO. That means 8 uppercuts to KO her, but only 7 with the KO skill. Overall you will get 1 extra stun a hunt with the skill if you are lucky. The best overall Gringigas set in the game, which is considered ULTIMATE, is actually: Helios Z Helm Damascus Mail X Rhopessa Brachia X Helios X Coil Gigginox Greaves S Handicraft+5, Free Element+7 it gives: sharpness+1 awaken speed sharpening challenger+2 earplugs Charm is only obtainable in T10. Set is also lookin pretty good. There's also weaker version obtainable in almost every charm table: Challenger+2 Awaken Sharpness+1 Earplugs You can get it really easy even with charms like +2 Hearing, OOO or +3 Hearing, OO, +2 Handicraft OO. If you want to fight Alatreon you need Rock Steady instead of earplugs. It's possible to gem it with Handicraft+5, Free Element+7. The set is: Grand Yamato Kabuto Damascus Mail X Helios Vambrances X Lambient Sash Grand Yamato Gusoku ========== There's also another way to use Grongigas, less powerfull, but more consistent in my opinion. With combination of parts posted below you get both Razor Sharp and Awaken as starting skills, +5 to Handicraft and 9 slots to gem at least 1 more B class skill and one C class skill. Gigginox Helm X Gigginox Mail X Wroggi Vambrances X Yamato Prime Artian X You should combine it with Handicraft+5 charm + .... skill. Because Handicraft+5 charm is obtainable in every table you can create some sick results. The combination of Razor Sharp and S+1 makes Grongigas deadly weapon and maintaining purple sharpness is not a problem anymore. For examle I'm using Handicraft+5, Sharpness+3. I'm fan of evade-hammering and I roll through roars. My skills are: Razor Sharp Sharpness+1 Bombardier Awaken Evasion+1 Grongigas is also usable without using Awaken to get slime thanks to huge raw. You can use it as pure raw hammer, because it has best raw in the game for hammers. Not many people know this but there's really easy set to make and it only requires +5 handicraft charm. Miralis Crown Miralis Breastplate Miralis Grievers Lambent Sash Vangis Greaves X ----------------- +5 Handicraft --- it gives: Challenger+2 Rock Steady Attack up (S) Sharpness+1 It's really good, easy to make set to fight Alatreon.

It's the charms you'll be farming for to get your Handicraft+5 charms. Weathered charms contain Enduring charms and the like. I thought you'd know since you mentioned farming.

| One last question, what about just a standard set of:
Awaken Partbreaker Sharp+1 Bombardier HGE
should be simpler. There's a ton of possibilities with this hammer and I wanna explore them all, and tbh I just enjoy partbreaker because..for example. I like to join randoms in Alatreon. However when I do such sometimes both horns don't break because of just how randoms or newcomers are and I'd rather ensure something breaks even if I have to solo the part.

| You need to hunt Ala with me lol, I break both horns in 5mins if you're using a hammer
On my god's archipelago that is, as for your set it is feasible I used that on my female character when hunted with her,
However if you have someone on para, then you should be able to break both horns provided they para well enough, chum chums with stat+2 and mega dash juice works perfectly

| It depends what you're facing. If it's HR Alatreon, it may happpen that you'll struggle to break them both because it's so weak that the overall damage, even made by randoms, will kill it. If it's G rank Alatreon, you should be fine with radoms even without Partbreaker. Breaking both horns isn't big deal when you take every chance to triple pound them. When he's KOd you got at least 2 triples and 1 when he's standing back. You should be getting 3-4 or 5 KOs solo, and there's also balista binder/flash bombs, so I really fail to see how you struggle breaking it. Partbreaker is only useful till you break horns, then it becomes passive skill.
Partbreaker can be useful only if you're new to hammering Alatreon. It's not very usefull outside of that, and takes A LOT to gem it in. Rock Steady is also superior to HGE, as it takes less points to gem in, and few armors which got points towards it got also Attack+ skill points, like Miralis.
But many people just like to use Helios X mix for Gringigas because it got most skills right. I'm just saying, if you want ULTIMATE, that's not the way.
With the set I show you earlier (Challenger+2, AuS, Sharpness+1, Rock Steady), you get AuL+AuS (huge boost to raw which is essential on hammers), Hearing protection (Rock Steady protects you from Ala roar), Critical Eye+2 (so no negative affinity on Grongigas), and Sharpness+1 to get to purple.
Also I found using Challenger skills on ala to have another advantage. You can clearly see when he's enraged and when he's not. That way you know exacly when throw flashes. I know you can also look at him directly, but I found looking on my character hand more comfortable.

| It's probably too late to add to the list, but if you can get that Handicraft +5, Free Element +7 talisman, I used that set: Head: Miralis Chest: Miralis Arms: Miralis Waist: Yamato Prime Koshiate Legs: Artian X Talisman: Handicraft +5, Free Element +7 --------------------------------------------------- x5 Bombardier Jewel x1 Unshakable +4 (Whatever the gem is called) x1 Unshakable +1 (Whatever that gem is called too) x1 Attack Jewel 2 or x2 Attack Jewel 1 Skills: Attack Up (M) Awaken Rock Steady Sharpness +1 Bombardier It's the one I'd always use. The ones that Antari listed are probably much better than mine, but at least mine has a constant Attack Up (M). :D - Nova wrote:
- I like to join randoms in Alatreon.
That in itself is your main problem. I love it how I can just fight the Alatreon with my two brothers. I hammer (This is with a different character where I just threw a set together. It has the skills: Sharpness +1, Awaken, HG Earplugs, and Bombardier) and they both use the Kelbi Bow. We Sleep it twice and Para it twice, and the horns break less than halfway through the quest. Even though I'm not super good at hammering the Alatreon.
