| Hopefully, we have a few people that were lucky enough to get the demo through their Nintendo account. For those of you that haven't gotten it, and would like to play the Demo before it is officially released, give a $4 donation to humble bundle, and they will make it happen. In any case, this is a post for anyone to say what they liked/didn't like about the demo. Personally, I am just very happy that I could play the game and test out the different weapons. I STILL haven't used the Palico to hunt any of the monsters, so I can't comment on that. Haven't done multiplayer either... wanted to test my mettle without a crutch. My main thought: Adept mode is ridiculous! Once you can pinpoint the patterns of the monsters, you can be completely relentless in your battle strat. There is so much more to be said, but i will let other people chime in. | |

| I had mixed feelings at the start about the demo. Something about the visuals didnt sit right with me. After some more runs, Im ok with it and can't wait for the game to come out :<
Adept style is amazing as expected and I will be probably switching my main from dual blades to longsword after a long long time. Striker bow was also enjoyable.
Nyanta mode was meh, I didnt care much for it

| Got a code from Nintendo. Did several run-throughs since then.... It is very western. A lot of it feels like they added in most of the new things to appeal to fans of western style mmorpg's. Magic, new status affects and hunter styles.
That doesn't devalue the MH experience in any way but I do feel Capcom thinks these are the things we like and many will like it. At the moment I'm a bit indifferent and slightly hesitant. Need to play the full game for a few hundred hours before I really decide if I like the changes or not.

| Every other IG but the guild style feel pretty horrible to me. Aerial seems redundant for Ig when I can just jump around anyway, so I didnt test it yet, but other styles just seem to take away from the completeness of IG, like being able to recall insect which is going to feel absolutely horrible with slow bug.
Adept hammer will probably be used often, it has potential and I liked it. Aerial style DB just seemed imprecise to me and lacks the xa demon dance from 4u, so I didn't like that much either. Striker gs is soso, I do like my backswings for maximum power and not even sure what the second skill even does for me, I've always missed that attack.
Friend tested cb, being extremely good with cb on MH4u he just felt it was weird.

| I've grown to dislike the control reversal dust of Malfesto quite a lot. :p It's somewhat easy to dodge when he's not on rage, but when enraged, he just spams moves with dust and glides very quickly around the stage and once he has you reversed, tries to kill you. I'm glad he's the only monster with such abilities tho, as far as status effects go this one takes the cake in annoyance. Adept style is especially good against him tho, since his wing sweeps leave him completely open for punish if you dodge em, his roar can be dodged and all his clouds can be dodged as well. I foresee I'll be doing a lot of adept roar dodging in the future, who needs earplugs anyway on a hammer. :p Not sure if it works against High grade roars tho..
Also the online demo monsters have soooo much HP it takes me and my buddy 10minutes of relentlessly hitting him and maccao to take him down. But I assume they're tuned for 5mins of 4 players, so 10mins for 2 of us seems normal.
Flash bombs have to be thrown right at his face to have affect, not so with maccao. Is it just flash bombs or do they affect monsters in different ways then? As of now pitfall -> flash behind me from his spot is too far away pretty much, so I'm not sure if we have to run behind the monsters to flash em now or will it still work on Ian and Los.
I dislike aerial gs, there's so much lack of power it's not even funny anymore and jump attack spamming on an idle monster is just meh. I swear maccao took ages to kill with aerial gs even after it limped, not so with striker and adept, but adept counterattack from dodge seems impossible to hit with, least against maccao, so I much prefer striker.
Adept hammer is turning out my favourite so far. Everything hammer ever needed, adept added to it and now it just flows so smoothly around I can't help but love it. And it'll only get better once I learn how to utilize the dodge better. I also hear adept sns and adept cb are really fun from my friend. Haven't tested adept duals yet, however I love my demon dance too much.

| as for visuals I prefered 4U smaller field of view, the pop up messages and UI in general seem to be bigger which is espacially annoying as there are so many pop up messages also don't care for the effects like dust and all the other flashy stuff but as BfL said propably gonna get used to it sometime would rather prefere the more toned down version as it always was up to now.
as for gameplay... really gonna need to get used to it guild and striker seem pretty solid in general adept is fun but sometimes pretty situational. Aerial is the one I like the least. Normal combat seems so crippled on aerial on most weapons so you basically have to spam the jump which you still seem to miss a lot it might work better in multiplayer when you can also jump off your teammates but so far jumping off the monster seemed rather annoying and inacurate (I'm sure it get's better once you are used to it and know what you are doing) it also seems to slow your roll down which again is extramely annoying in neutral play.
I like the new overheating mechanic on GL makes it way more interesting. Adebt SnS is basically a less crippled aerial SnS which is really cool propably gonna use that a lot.
Prowler is extremely wierd but also quite fun. my main complain with it is that you can only heal with horns so unless you get better skills later on (which would propably mean level grinding which is a thing I really don't want to see in MH) you'll either need to use up most of your skill gauge or get out of battle and heal up with 10 herbal horns which propably takes 3 minutes...
In general i's still monster hunter so it's fun anyway some of the changes I dislike some I'll propably get used to after some time so yeah I'll know more once I'm through the game

| for as much as yt'ers hyped Aerial Swax, i hated it. It was like i was trying to swing blind. And then Adept style anyhting is awesome, except i cant ever dodge correctly to actually do anything to teh monster.
Striker is awsome for me. and both me and the son and LOVED Aerial Dual blades. its like the monsters cant even track us. its all whirling all air all the time ninja fun fest.
So yeah i think the demo did a good job of getting across all the important aspects.
And Samochan, totally agree with how cowardly Narga is in the demo.

| I just violated Narga in the demo with an Aerial Style insect glaive in a manner that I'm not sure is suitable for most eyes lol. Once I learned the controls for Aerial I was all over the place, plus I've been fighting Narga ever since it came out so I'm kinda used to its moves. | |

| Murdered the giant owl with Aerial Style GS, then fought the Jaggi replacement with the powerhouse style GS, which despite aerial gives the GS an interesting playstyle, the powerhouse gives it not only a crucial level 4 looking charge, but an auto-swing on reaching it. I feel that combined with skills like Crit Draw and Focus and Sharp+1, that's gonna be just an absolute domination of things. | |

I might be wrong, but missing the 3rd charge means you go down to the level 2 charge and auto hit. If they took the "timing" off the GS, it will be a sad day indeed.

If they took the "timing" off the GS, it will be a sad day indeed. After doing research it looks like Striker doesnt get a 4th charge but overcharging doesn't penalize the GS with a downgrade. Which is perfect for old school GS timing usage.

| Did a group narga hunt. And yes, people are still generally horrible at playing. It was a long and arduous process that seemed to drag on for ever. Eventually did kill the narga... after all, there is only so much wacking on the head from a hammer that anyone can take.
Also did the Cat. Seems like it could be good to have one person as a cat per group. Just do your Rallie song and keep the group buffed and ride the monster when you can.
Perfect little buddy when played well. ... and there-in lies the problem. I wonder who is going to take the time to get really good with the cat... hmmm

| Yyyea the trolls are defininitely up and about. Hunts where people cart once and then decide to disrupt the rest of the hunt by purposefully hitting teammates in attempts of tripping em, dung bombing monster to make it flee, bombing, afking etc.
Also every single cat on a quest seems to drag it ooon and ooon as all they do is spam tiny miniscule hp horn somewhere in a corner. Oh and lance charge is a new fad again.
Other than that, I've gotten reasonably good with adeopting with all the weapons I mainly use against narga, that being duals, gs, hammer, ls and ig. I've also tested swax a bunch and seems to be really good. Each weapon has different style in how you're supposed to adept dodge and punish the monster, which is nice. I still like aerial IG lot more than adept, adept IG seems too unreliable for myself without extract extender, while aerial IG doesn't seem to lack anything and it gets a ridiculously good gap closer not even narga can escape from. Adept duals seem really powerful, but would rather have a mega dash juice. GS is just difficult to connect all the moves with, not just because of the range of the dashes and swings but also being quite slow in execution. Longsword adept is just excellent, I barely drop to yellow after getting red once. Hammer lv3 triple swing charge is somewhat difficult to connect with em all however.

| Ok, figured out the "special" of the hammer in adept mode. Once you do a perfect dodge, you charge instead of counter, for a nice special purple glowing overhead smash with a high KO rating ^_^
I am not finding a valid reason to ever go back to "normal" style. The evade alone was enough of a lure, but all these specials for evading properly... yummy!
