bowgun with water and normal lvl2 with a set that has auto reload and EAU destroys gravios.. just sayin

well thats a part of MH. and you're G-rank and you only have to hunt some high-rank rathaloses. there will be times like I had now: I wanted to make the G-rank gaoren GS. but for that I needed some lao-shan parts. so I had to finish all G-rank*+** epic-quests to unlock lao. but not enough, I had to make a new hammer, with wich I would be able to kill him. that all lasted very long. but it's such a good feeling, when you now you finally got one of the best endgame weapons of that class. so don't give up. you don't have to make the lance immediatly. you can still fight your way through G-rank and every now and then (mostly if you are feared of strong monsters or just not in the mood to get totally destroyed) you cut of some rathalos tails. (it's also a good strategie for plates and rubies)

| Thank you all for the advice, I recently managed to upgrade the Azure Rathalos lance to its final level and it is great. Saddly, I've run into a wall which is really getting on my nerves: Blangonga. I HATE fighting this monster with a passion, I can rarely hit it, and its stupid snowballs and minions destroy me. Any tips on fighting this horrible monster with lance or gunlance? If Capcom was just stupid enough to make him unfightable with lance/gunlance, would Sword and Shield work? If so, which high rank armor set would you recomend? | |

| Blangonga... still one of my most difficult enemies in mhfu (mainly because hitting it with a hammer is like swatting a fly with a needle...).
Hitting him with a lance sounds pretty tough, but more feasible than with a hammer. just keep your lance sheathed and go for unsheathing attacks and combos (especially when he's doing that big snowball throw, easy combo on the sides :P). Heres a step by step, though this won't work every time:
1. wait for him to attack, dodge/stay out of the way. 2. run at him and give him a good poke (combo, etc..., whatever works.) 3. if needed, block his next attack. 4. sheathe your lance. 5. repeat until dead.
Your new rath lance should tear him apart.

| I usually try to do that, though with the minions and constant attacking, even sheathing is extremly dificult to pull off, I'll give it another shot.
As for bowgun, I simply refuse to use bowguns for the same reason I refuse to use long sword, because they are so overpowered and there is no fun in hunting with them (I've tried out bowgun, and I'm decent with it at best)

| Just kill the minions... simple! when he summons more just kill them again, it takes less than a combo most likely and since it's a lance you can easily just guard if the big guy tries to hit you while you take them out. | |

| is there another/faster way to get rust stones than LR-volcano-gathering and killing lao-shan? Also, is there a way to influenc which kind of rust stone you get? case I've got plenty of rust stones, but not a single flat one and I really want a flat rust stone. | |

| Really depends on what it is you are fighting. I have just started a new game and just got up to the Tigrex urgent (not that it matters), the main reason being that I wanted to try out the different weapons right from low rank, and attempt to complete all the quests. I always started out with the bone path since thats what the previous village hunter gives you, and see where it takes you. I don't use lance since I like the idea of GL more but since I'm a bit of a newbie to the GL weapon paths; all I can really say is that the Bone Gunlance Path leads you to a decent Blangonga Gunlance with decent Ice elements. So if you're fighing monsters weak to ice (Rajang, Los to some degree, C.Blangonga) I'd recommend the bone path. Someone more familiar may be able to help you more though, just my two penneth . | |

| Incoming stupid question! Where can I get a monster bone+? I need it to upgrade my Wild Bow IV and to make the Yian Garuga Gauntlets. I've heard that you can get them from hunting Kut-Ku in the 3* on/offline gathering hall, but i have hunted the Kut-Ku so much that I accidentally got the title "Blood Red" (you get that title by killing 40 YIAN KUT-KUS!) /versad/ | |

I think thats a high rank carve on the kut-ku. I got a couple as rewards for beating tigrex though.

Yes, beating many tigreces is most likely your best bet. you can get some good stuff along the way (tigrex parts are good for getting narga weapons without brainstems, and can sell for quite a bit if you need some more cash!)
