How long does it take to do the first update? Do normal wii remotes work or do I have to have motion plus controllers? What games should I buy?
1. This one depends on your internet, but anywhere from 20 minutes to about and hour and a half
2. Yes, normal remotes workl
3. Well, it depends on your interests. If you have already played the ports on other systems, I would suggest not getting them as there is nothing really new. The only one with some exclusive content is Tekken Tag Tournament 2. And Mass effect 3... Don't get it at all unless the Wii U is the only console you have. They're charging full price for a year old game >_> Sonic and Sega is nice though. The exclusives I would recommend are Zombie U and Nsmb U' Nintendo Land to an extent. The Wii U actually has nice downloadable games such as chasing aurora and Trine 2, directors cut.
Chasing Aurora is a bogus game. I haven't played multiplayer though which is apparently it's savior.
I would suggest Nintendo Land to start off with, it demonstrates how to use the WiiU and is in itself a really great party game.
To be honest though you don't have to rush out and buy a WiiU, there's not much on it at the moment. Next year Q2 should have some cool titles released!

I already got it, but I have to wait until tomorrow or tonight because it is a Christmas gift that I bought with money given to me to buy anything for Christmas. And yeah, i can't wait for MH3U.

Waiting until March to buy mine. I want some of the bugs worked out. I'll get angreh if I start 3U then have to send it in for repairs/swap/etc.
This will be the first time I'll be buying a console in it's release year since the SNES. I usually always wait until the 2nd or 3rd year so that all of the bugs are fixxed and price is reduced. I can't wait for 3U so I'm going to just go ahead and eat it and buy it early.

Damn dude, SNES years must have been awesome. But yeah, I'm enjoying Nintendo Land more than I thought I would. I'm getting Mario Bros. U this week and an extra wii mote so I can get five players playing since I'm lucky enough to have four people playing with me
I only bought the WiiU for MH3U and ZombiU but got the bundle cuz all the black verions were sold out and got Scribblenaughts Unlimited which is really fun especially with a creative (or dirty) mind. ;)

Dude the SNES was omg awesome when released. It was definitely epic in the true meaning of the word. That's when Yoshi made his first appearance in a Mario game, iirc.

Heh Heh. I loved Conker's Bad Fur Day. One of the funniest games I've ever played.

On Topic: Any word on whether the Nunchuk works with the WiiU, specifically MH3U?
It should just be the game pad and the WiiU pro controller for Monster Hunter 3U. No motion controls this time around to make it more easily match the 3DS with and without the attachment.
Basically it keeps the control scheme the same for both systems that way.
I don't really care for the motion controls, the Mote/Chuk is just comfortable for most weapons. I only ever used the motion controls if I got pinned and forgot dung. Then I'd have to switch the nunchuk to my right hand real fast() :lol!: :trl:
That is a good idea to mirror the control schemes across both platforms, though. I plan on getting the 3ds in the summer.
Just FYI for those who have not gotten a WiiU, the MiiVerse is pretty neat. You can post comments and get information about parts of a game you are having trouble with without looking it up online and usually get a reply within seconds..
You can also post pictures... Much smaller than this though:
