how to kill barioth

When I first tried a Barioth, I was overwhelmed by his speed. But what do you counter speed with? Speed. I find him pretty much doable with the Djinn SnS. Make use of your mobility, think both offensive and defensive. Get used to his movements and strike whenever possible, but retreat in time so he won't wtfpwn you.

When he runs/jumps at you, block it instead of trying to dodge. At least that works for me. This means you should keep your sword and shield out as much as possible.

Other than that, preparation is the key. Combine yourself some Mega Nutrients or even Max Potions to increase your life gauge. If you don't know, it's:
> Godbug + Blue Mushroom = Nutrients
> Nutrients + Honey = Mega Nutrients
> Mega Nutrients + Dragon Toadstool = Max Potion.

Hope I helped I've found that on every monster I have trouble with, using SnS = win.

EDIT: Had to add that Pitfall traps work really well on him.

Right, no expert on Barioth but apparently if you're facing the thing solo (so offline mode/etc.) its best to use a SnS or Lance with Guard+2 support. Let him come to you instead of chasing after him while he runs haywire because apart from the easily blocked ice blast, he has to go right next to you to do damage and using things like Spiral Heat, Djinn etc should do pretty well.

If time isn't an issue and you have the 140health from the food boosts, if you start taking a whack, its better to leave the area to heal up/sharpen then try to evade Barioth's attacks while doing so. He's not the easiest fight going but you'll get it eventually.

you could also use a thunder weapon.

The percentage difference in effectiveness is only %5. Except for with the wings, thunder does more on the wings.

i did it i killed him you see barioth you just got your ass whiped by a hunter who was wearing lagi armour and armed with a bolt axe and a few bounce bombs!!!!!!!!!!

1. Fire or thunder weapon assuming your weapon type is elementally dependant or you have a few similar strength weapons to choose from.

2. Pitfall trap (focus on breaking at least one wing)

3. Evade + 1 or block ability (bari and jho my 2 faves for evading)

4. For preparation you should always eat for HP and stamina or HP and att/def depending on freshness. Hot drinks and cleanser, too, but they are provided in box.

5. Stay close or stay far away. Bari is most dangerous inbetween.

I disagree with flashing him unless you do it while he is flying. A flashed bari goes berserk and is nearly impossible to attack. I also disagree with switching weapon types. Just remember evade + 1 if your weapon doesn't block.

I'm not even gonna say it anymore.

Didn't notice, lol.

More Lance Tips:

1. Use Stab-Stab-Dodge rather than Stab-Stab-Stab-Dodge. It really makes a difference.
2. Shield Bash through its pounces. This will Exhaust Barioth often, getting you extra hits.
