| So, I was thinking about how some monsters do insane damage, despite how much armor you may have. I was wondering; is there a way to dodge every single attack a monster makes?
The reason I'm asking is because Chips and I had a fairly benign Rathalos fight. The guy that was with us went to mine, so it was just him and I, however, Chips was also lagging so that made it a bit harder on him... however, I found that we were both still able to fairly easily dodge the attacks. All in all, I was hit twice throughout the entire battle. Is it possible to not get hit at all?
And by that I mean, is possible to not get hit by any monster?

| it is in fact possible to dodge every single attack, although it is extremly difficult. i saw one lady on Youtube fight a Deviljho with a tiny bit of health that one hit from a jaggi could probalby kill her. but she captured that jho and never got hit once. | |

| Was she using something like Adrenaline+Selene Armor with the Ceadeus Switch Axe? I've seen that too. Wow.
On a side note, I personally have hunted Gigginoxes without taking any damage.

The monsters will never surprise you with a new attack, they all have signature attacks that will be repeated over and over again. I have a couple of friends I play with who don't wear equipment with me. As a gunner or blademaster, we can go through a whole quest without getting hit. Granted, if we do, we instantly die.
Exception to this is MH Frontier's Raviente. Even with full maxed armor, he can still oneshot you, and he's constantly pulling new attacks. But this is Tri so... :P

| Well, advice in dodging (Which is maybe useless) but try not to take the risk of prolonging an attack. Like Gs, not really doing the famous charge attack. or SnS, making the maximum combos in one session.
Basically, making 1-2 strikes, and moving away.
But that's unlikely since some of like the feeling of just hitting it and being the one who staggers it. Or makes it fall on it's side.
But another thing to do is get the Evasion +2 skill and practice dodging each and every move from every monster in your normal fight. So when practicing, you wouldn't really change your style completely but just adding in that Dodging trait to where it becomes natural.
And as for something like Ala's fireball, Guard up and Guard +2 would work on no losing health, right?

| Absolutely.
Evasion +1(2 also, but 1 helps for pretty much everything) and the superman dive.
You can literally evade straight through an agnaktor laser beam while it's shooting.

You can literally evade straight through an agnaktor laser beam while it's shooting. I feel like a boss when I do that. (Which is every 5 seconds) Ive done it on ala and jhen. Ala was kinda hard. The hardest to pull it off on is great jaggi @.@ Im serious.

| Great Jaggi is a bit difficult to lance compared to other weapons. :nya: I can evade the tail whip from great jaggi without evade+1/+2. It's just timing and its tail is kinda thin near the end. What's more pro is taking advantage of this and not making mistakes. ;) | |

| In theory it's possible, but especially if you're in a team it's extremely hard. It's easier when you're on your own or with one other team member because then the monster becomes really predictable, but when you're in a team all sorts of stuff could go wrong.
A team member might throw a flash bomb at the precise time that you're preparing to dodge and mess up your timing. You could dodge to the side thinking that the monster's charging at you but it's actually charging to someone to the side of you, making you dodge right into the monster's charge. Someone could accidentally trip you with their weapon making you get hit. And so on...
So, my point? It's possible, but when you're in a team there's certainly no guarantee, and even when you're on your own it will be tough to maintain.

:p You don't, you slash or smash! SUPER SMASH! The body of Great Jaggi is kinda too thin to stab at.

It's funny when I see players try this and they say they won't die.

| I have but only once it has a strange hitbox so it's nearly impossible to dodge. Also depends how close are you to the initial impact. | |

| Thanks for all the replies, especially on the one about attacking once or twice and then dodging. That's actually the most prevalent piece of advice I've heard. I've tried it a few times, and it actually saved me some damage. However, there have also been times where rapidly tapping the buttons didn't allow it to happen. I wish we had combo cancels so we could just stop the combo we were in to back off.
You see, I primarily use a long sword, so when I attack, I really attack. Which can lead to painful outcomes. The most painful of all outcomes is slashing at Ala's ankles, and getting bitch slapped in the face with a huge dragon-powered claw. Not fun. Although, I've learned to dodge that. o_O
Anyhow, I have never had any luck with dodging every single attack on any enemy. Not even Great Jaggi. Booooo.

Oh, and sns and ls are the best to use if youre going to dodge everything. It's not that hard to pull it off with ls, you just need practice. However, sns is tons easier to do it with.

| With a ls it's more about spacing than timing because you have fade slash, but basically all you need to do is not go past the second spirit slash combo unless you are sure you wont get hit. | |

| Well, Jaggi...um..Personally, i haven't wasted a second trying to dodge MOST of his attacks. I understand it's a goal to dodge the little raptor thing...but i dont see the point when he dies in like 30secs.
So never worked on that dodging thing. Personally, i tried to 1-hit him. I didn't know if it stacked but i wore Rathalos armor OF, food skills got me the Attack(L) along with heroics. I grabbed Jho's basic version (not upgraded) of his Gs and slammed it down on a LR Jaggi...Fail. XP

| LR Jaggi dies fairly easily, but when you can't even one-hit a Jaggia with most weapons, it begins to seem impossible. | |

Also, sleep meat. EDIT: You need to have at least one of the following: sleep meat, adrenaline/heroics, or fortify. Otherwise you top out at 664 damage, while an offline G.Jaggi has from 700 to 900 hp.
