| Hey, I've just started lancing and I'm not sure whether to be an evade or counter lancer. Right now I'm using evasion since there aren't any guard sets available for me (I suppose I could do offline for Agnaktor) I'm using Peco armor that I've upgraded to level 7 and I'm going to start gemming it for Evasion +2. I'm not sure whats best though. What one is easiest? Evasion or Countering? What one does more damage, also? Thanks! | |

| Counter lancing, less dps, easier to master. Evade lancing, alot more dps, alot harder to master | |

| I never used peco offline before so, I wouldn't know. But evasion at that lvl is nice. | |

| Counter lance on the monsters you have troubles beating. Otherwise, evade lance | |

| Learn how to apply both because there are some situations where it is more favorable to counter or evade. Deviljho's pin attack is one of these situations depending where it lands you can counter and continue your attack or evade depending how comfortable you are with the situation. | |

| Yuki is right. I favor on max damage. Jho would be better with evade lancing because he becomes extremely weak when angered, so taking that damage multiplier is helpful, although monsters like Ala would be better to counter. The Rath's would also be better to evade lance, because their heads are extremely weak. If monsters are easily evadable, evade is the way to go. If you can't evade because their moves take too much frames, then counter is better. | |

Not necessarily, evade lancing him is like a walk through the park. I usually have Evade distance and Evade +2, and i dodge all his moves like nothing. If you aren't greedy with your hits, you will do just fine.

You're assuming everyone is as skilled as everyone else.Wait, doesn't Black the Lance evade Ala without evasion?I have to ask, cause when people say something is easy, and then they say what skills they use,I usually smack my head and think "Of course it's easy, your skill set makes you practically untouchable". OT:I use what ever I'm in the mood to use.I'm not the best, and wont claim to be.I just like having fun,and trying out new things.I do okay at evade lancing, but I prefer to counter when fighting Ala.Haven't fought her enough with an evade lancing set up,but it's a work in progress.Anyway, that's just my opinion cause it's what works for me.

Wait, doesn't Black the Lance evade Ala without evasion? I didn't quite understand what you were saying there. But evade lancing an alatreon is quite easy without evasion, all you really need to look out for is his claw swipe, which can be dodged without evasion skills. This is considering you stay at his back legs. Also, to use the evade skills, you must have skill. Counter lancing an alatreon just doesn't seem right because he likes to run a lot. I see counter lancing more efficient when facing monsters that tend to not move around a lot. Call me cocky, but i think of myself as the best US lancer in MH. I have yet to have somebody prove me wrong.

| It is possible to make a set that allows for both to be used effectively. You will, however, sacrifice some damage for this. I must say though, using one of these hybrid sets is extraordinarily fun. | |

| Well I really Lance when I'm fighting a monster who is pack a lot of damage, reason for the sheild but still able to hit with out some random attack.
I have Lance made for Jho alone since I use my Bari armor to fight him. I did make a Anga lance but that was for Lagia really when I had LR armor of him and i was trying to keep myself from dying. Then I went to the hammer, SnS, ect.
I tried Lancing Alatreon once, it wasn't my style for him even with Sabertooth (G) So I do it either SnS or Switchaxe until i upgrade my Jho GS or get the Jho hammer and level up that.
