| LINK - http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/491133VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8gp2TCZqu4Hey, in case you haven't seen my other thread, I was busy at work on a massive musical medley/remix of different Monster Hunter Tri themes. After 36 hours of work spread over a month and 12 different versions, I finally managed to finish it! This is the most ambitious project I've ever done, and I honestly can't thank enough the kind souls who gave me all the feedback a guy could ever ask for in the thread I linked above. Big thanks goes especially to Lou Urau, Luciarn and Slyffer for giving me continuous feedback as I was going along, and thanks to Slyffer for the song name. In all I remixed seven tracks (and you can check which I remixed and when they show up in the song in the description on Newgrounds). I wanted to add the Ceadeus main battle theme and the Monster Hunter theme (the one that plays when you use the Dragonator on the Jhen in the second part of the battle) but when I tried remixing them I just couldn't get them to sound right . Also, in the near future there will possibly be a music video to this too (thanks to Lou Urau for the idea). A friend of mine at school has agreed to cutting out different snippets from gameplay videos and MH cutscenes found scattered in YouTube and making a video to match the music. If anyone has any ideas on what cutscene might sound good in a certain part, please do post here! So, you can hear the medley on Newgrounds in the link at the very top or download a higher-quality version here. I'd love some feedback, and thanks for reading! Oh and I hope the mods don't mind me making a new thread. Making an edit in an old thread won't be nearly as effective.

| It's amazing, in fact, I'm speechless, you are truly a master, I could listen to this for forever.
Edit: You need clips of Cha Cha dancing and a clip of Ceadeus jumping out of the water after he is repelled.

The jumping out of the water was an idea I already had. I'd really like it added somewhere around 6:10. Cha-Cha dancing was an idea that did not occur to me but it is nevertheless a fantastic idea. Cha-Cha is awesome. I'll look through some game trailers and gameplay videos and see if I can find a few clips of Cha-Cha busting up some moves. Thanks for the suggestion!

| Bravo, Step!
That was simply amazing. Every part of it was inspiring, especially Part 3, because Ceadeus' music is some of the best in the game, and Part 2, because that's the music I most often associate with the game. It gave me that feeling, the one that you get when you read inspiring poetry and listen to amazing music. It's a shame that you couldn't get the Monster Hunter theme right, but I can see that one being particularly hard. It's hard to criticize something of this caliber.
My hat is off to you, sir.

ANYWAYS! I truly love and adore this masterpiece and I hope that you make more remixes from other games /yes/

As still, i'm greatly impressed on how this turned how out and I cant wait to have this downloaded on well, everything possible because this awesomeness deserves to be shared with ALL Tri fans.
But Lol, if we do the Youtube idea I had from that one guy, i'll have to spend HOURS brainstorming the scene.

| Absolutely amazing work, Step. Its an absolute minimum of ''longer'' songs (for me, about 6:30/7 minutes onwards) that I've heard that I also enjoy (and even then, I sometimes pick and choose bits), but this remains interesting from the first to the last second for me, keeps me guessing and anticipating the next step in the song (pun intended ;))
My favourite bits from the progressing posted stages remain (the fluting at the end of the MH Tri Theme, the drumming in the Moga Village Theme, the uplift at about 2:50 during the Jhen Victory Theme) and some of the newer features kick ass (the sudden break into tempo at 4:11 in the Tavern Theme and the seriously epic ending 5 seconds of said theme, the little hints of trepidation at about 5:28 in the Ceadeus Intro which seem to be resolved with the more upbeat tune at 5:41, and the clever touch of finishing the Medley with the Tri Theme, bringing it back to where it all began, is an inspired touch for me, almost suggests your familiar hunting experience in Tri, you begin in the Village/Town, you set out, face an epic journey, and return triumphant once more, home). This is going to get some serious playtime from me, its already been downloaded and played a number of times in the last hour. One of my favourite things about this is that it not only reminds me of Monster Hunter of course, but other games/even bands, the Legend of Zelda, Star Fox and Blind Guardian to name a few.
As for the video plans, I'll try and spot what I can and give suggestions, but I have a feeling I may not have the best eye for that kind of thing lol, but I'm still make a hash at it.
Thanks for the PM, Step, and many thanks, obviously, for this amazing work, you've dedicated a lot of time into this, and I hope its given you a lot of satisfaction, because it should, its brilliant /yes/

You know I'd love it if you could let me know of any ideas you got for the YouTube video. My friend says he prefers working without me telling him exactly which cutscenes and video clips go in which part of the music. He hates restrictions. However he never played Tri before so he'll need all the ideas he can get (he did play other Monster Hunter games though so he knows the general feeling of the series and I think he'll do a great job). Seriously, you've really gone into a lot of detail and I really appreciate it! Like I said to a guy in a response to his review on Newgrounds, one of the things I strive for is to make a song interesting till the end when it's a long song. I'm glad you think it is. It's really interesting to see what your favourite parts are because it helps me gauge which parts I did right and which I didn't do right :P. I'm also REALLY glad you noticed 5:28. An ominous effect that I resolve with the pan flute in the upbeat part is exactly what I was trying to achieve. Thanks so much for the massive amount of feedback. | Hey! I finished the video of the medley! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8gp2TCZqu4Sorry it took so long. My friend hasn't given me any progress reports about it so I decided to do it myself. As a result the quality is pretty low since it's my first time doing something like this but I hope it's still alright. I tried to time it just right so it can fit well with the music, and incorporated a few ideas mentioned on here too, like adding Cha-Cha dancing, putting in the cutscene that plays when you start the game for the village theme, etc... I'd like to thank Lou Urau again for thinking of the idea to do this. It was really successful! Let me know what you guys think! I'd greatly appreciate it if you could spread the word too. I'm not very well-known on YouTube at all and I don't see this getting many views on its own. Thanks again for all the support everyone. I mentioned this forum in the description on YouTube as promised. Leave some comments on the video, maybe? :3

| Nice video!
Most of it definitely suits the video, and it definitely helps putting focus on the song. Some of the parts did seem a bit..random though. I imagine it's impossible to make it completely fit the video, but the fighting scenes felt like filler material in-between the cutscenes.
Overall a good video for a great medley.

| Ah, bloody incredible, Step. I actually didn't know how your friend could pull this off, even if he's as experienced with vids as you've mentioned, and to hear you eventually took it upon yourself to do the video, without an extensive history of doing this kind of thing....the result is amazing, man /yes/
The cutscenes are brought together really well, in a way I didn't see coming, in truth. Like Win32error has said, some of the fighting scenes didn't quite work for me (the G.Baggi getting a sly tail slap in, the hammer miss at 1:04, the wandering around in front of the Wyverian Artisan at 1:37, and parts of the Ceadeus fighting, though not to include any Ceadeus fighting would be absolute sacrilege, of course, so I'm glad its there nonetheless), but ironically, some of the other ''blunders'' (i.e. the hunter getting a, well deserved admittedly, bit of monster aggro) such as the hunter getting some premium Barroth headbutt at around 1:12, some ''tender kisses'' from the Rathian at 1:22 and a bit of warming up from herself a few seconds later worked really well for me, almost as a sort of warning, or a bit of a ''heads-up'', i.e., you won't escape a fight without some scars to show afterwards. This is one of the elements of the vid that really contributed to me enjoying this not only as a fan and player of the series and game, but almost as a newbie; you show off various, informative clips of the weapons (my favourite ''larger'' showing being later on in the vid at 7:21 with the lance, LS and SA, and of course I must make a special mention for the SnS mashing at 1:14 :P), a great, varied showing of the monsters, and clips with village characters making an appearance. From a purely promotional view, I think this works extremely well, as well as one could hope, considering that this game really can't be explained fully (at least, in my eyes). For that, some props /yes/
Personal favourite moments of this I must mention include the breaking into tempo of the ''Song of Victory'' at 2:51 accompanied by the great Loc Lac scenes, the scenes from 4:20-4:48 (again, these contribute to the ''promotional'' or showcase effect, showing off aspects such as being encased in mud, the Felynes of the game, the bestest Shakalaka looking swanky and dancing a bit, the cooking, bug catching and mining, the lighting of the torch and the consequent swarm of Branarahra (or however the hell its called lol), Luddy getting detailed and the pointing gesture), the end of the ''Demise of the Traditions'' theme sychronised with the Ceadeus shaking his furry mane, the GORGEOUS leap from the Ceadeus and sun-setting-backdrop at 6:10 timed with the slight crescendo at the same moment, the twisted, angry sky above the volcano at 7:13. SPECIAL MENTION goes to ALL of the Lagricus bits (dunno why, I love that monster, so aesthetically pleasing) and....my favourite moment is definately the secluded forest scene at 4:10 with the Qurupeco, allied with the Tavern Theme breaking into high rhythm, that made me smile like a deranged lunatic :P One last mention in this particular ridicolously sized paragraph of mine is finishing with the hunter coming home accompanied by Loc Lac citizens at 7:50, like I mentioned before, it ties in so well with the repeated Tri Theme so as to indicate the end of both the hunt and medley.
Sorry about all the fanboyish gushing lol, I just really love it, and appreciate all the hard work you've done to bring it to fruition /yes/ sorry about not contributing to the video efforts, I've been off MH a bit recently, so I was no use to ya, sadly.
I'll definately ''Like'' the vid and comment on her, not anywhere near as big a comment as here, you'll be glad to hear lol.

Mhmm, I think you're totally right. I wanted to find a mix between something that tells a story and something that really showcases the whole lot of Monster Hunter, so I did try and fit in a lot of quick fighting scenes and different monsters/areas just to highlight the variety. I worked more on the timing of the videos than I did the order and structure of them, actually. As a result they may have come off as random. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! - Slyffer wrote:
- Ah, bloody incredible, Step.
No man YOU'RE bloody incredible. This feedback is just out of this world. Like I said on YouTube, you're excellent at picking out intentional little details I did and mentioning them, which is very impressive. Thanks so much! I'll respond to a few parts and hope this post doesn't end up too long :P. " some of the fighting scenes didn't quite work for me" You know, the fighting scenes you've mentioned which you don't like are all from SocialDissonance's Let's Play! series and the fighting scenes you've mentioned that you do like are all from trailers. This is perfectly understandable, actually - SocialDissonance made that footage so it can be watched and learnt from, whereas the trailer stuff was actually put there to give an epic feeling. I couldn't get everything out of trailers though since the trailers didn't have enough footage (especially Ceadeus footage - Ceadeus is completely absent from the trailers, naturally, since he's sort of the big boss nobody knows about and putting him in the trailers spoils it). I agree on everything you said about them except that I think the hammer miss at 1:04 was good. The music that plays over there, if you listen closely, sort of dies down at the hammer miss, and then makes a comeback and rise in intensity as SocialDissonance charges up his hammer again, ending with a loud orchestral hit when he hits the hammer onto the head. That part was intentional :P. " i.e., you won't escape a fight without some scars to show afterwards." That's exactly why I added that stuff there! " you show off various, informative clips of the weapons" Yep, that was also intentional. I wanted to give it a trailer feel so that people who haven't played the game would get some varied footage on it. I tried to get in as much of the weapons as possible but I wish I showcased more of the lance and longsword. " and of course I must make a special mention for the SnS mashing at 1:14 :P)" Haha yes I knew you would xD. " the GORGEOUS leap from the Ceadeus and sun-setting-backdrop at 6:10 timed with the slight crescendo at the same moment" WOO. I was hoping people would notice that. You're not the first to mention it (someone else actually described it as gorgeous too) and it was something I had in my head for ages. I even specifically asked my friend to add it there in the video, but since he didn't end up making the video, I had full control over it and very happily added that heavenly snippet of the game's cutscene! " my favourite moment is definately the secluded forest scene at 4:10 with the Qurupeco" Oh yes, I HAD to add that Qurupeco Ecology video! Monster Hunter has quite a few little comical touches here and there like the kid falling in the water during the game's first cutscene and that video. It just felt wrong not to add them. " One last mention in this particular ridicolously sized paragraph of mine is finishing with the hunter coming home accompanied by Loc Lac citizens at 7:50, like I mentioned before, it ties in so well with the repeated Tri Theme so as to indicate the end of both the hunt and medley." You deserve credit for that. You're the one who gave me the idea. Without knowing it, sure, but if you didn't mention how the repetition of the Monster Hunter theme didn't give a feeling of returning victoriously home, I probably wouldn't have added it and would've ended with the opening cutscene's ending where the Rathalos is flying into the distance and the four hunters are staring at it. " Sorry about all the fanboyish gushing lol, I just really love it, and appreciate all the hard work you've done to bring it to fruition...
...I'll definately ''Like'' the vid and comment on her, not anywhere near as big a comment as here, you'll be glad to hear lol." No man this is amazing. You've precisely criticised and complimented many of the little things I put in the video like it's nothing. Thanks again! The ear-part was actually joke, because you already told me you were deaf from one ear, that's why I gave you the wink . Seriously, have you ever thought of making a concept album, getting a label and becoming a real musician? You've got enough talent, and I think I'm not the only one interested in the music you make. It's sort of a unexplored genre, and your music has the potential. You may not gain a alot of succes with the mainstream crowd, but finer ears will definitely appreciate what you create.

I've thought about it but I'm really not interested in the money. I might sell my stuff in the future but if I do I'll still post it for free download and allow people to pay only if they want to. | Well, frankly there are a lot of bands that operate (at least at the start of their careers) on a ''pay as you likie'' basis, m8, you wouldn't get rich off it, but a bit of extra pocket money here and there couldn't hurt, it'd be a material reward for work well done. But even if, like Florenz says, that isn't your thing, don't be afraid to let us know of any music works you get done, we'd be interested to hear 'em :P

But yeah if I ever sell my own music, unless I'm really desperate for money or I take music as a career, then I'll sell it as a "name your price starting from $0.00" type deal or something. It feels wrong selling my music when it's just a hobby :P. Thanks for the support/advice though. Very much appreciated! - Recoilex wrote:

Haha that's awesome, thanks. A movie with somewhat low quality, but meh! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

| Lol I wish I could give a lot feedback to this. But it's the same as awesome. I just really love this work and I am honored that I was able to be part of this, Step.
My favorite part is the uppity part when in Loc Lac where it sounds like a party. My mind clearly soars and just imagine myself in a world of Monster Hunter, becoming famous, strong, and even legendary for being in the hunt.
I can dream freely with this and I can't wait for your next piece of work.
