| As I've never used the Hunting Horn before, I'm looking forward to my first experiences with it. In the past, I have over looked it slightly, as I am so biased towards Great Swords.
But I have watched videos of hunters using the Hunting Horn, and it really doesn't look like a bad weapon. Infact it may benefit me. I'm always using buffs on myself, so why not buff the whole team while I'm at it?
Nothing will ever beat the Great Sword, though... /no/

| The Hunting Horn is the weapon I'm looking forward to the most on MH3U. It used to be Dual Swords, but then I thought "what if there was a weapon that inflicted KO damage consistently, but was faster than the hammer?" and, much to my surprise, this weapon exists.
I'd still find a whip cooler, but the buffs look great.

| I do love this talk about the weapons that are gonna be in this game and all.... But I still think we are gonna see a bigger concentration of "Teh Longsword" XD
But I do think some people who have moved from Tri to MH3U will find that the LS is a completely different monster this time around

I'd be willing to bet that Lancers will still be burdened by the LS though, probably even more so by the dual-wielders. From what I've heard of the hunting horn, and the little bit of research that I've done, I bet the HH will be awesomesauce.

| ^ Dual swords have a very small hitbox which people fail to realize. Yes demon dance spam will be prevalent but it's hitbox is that or a sword and shield. It's a precise weapon players especially lancers should not be having trouble unless the dual wielder is right next to them. Still the dual wielder will be more likely to be tripped if he is a good player, and knows when to use the demon dance and when to combo. | |

| Well that is comforting. I didn't realise that their range is as limited. It'll be interesting to see how everything pans out once this one is released.
Also, when that happens, These forums will be on FIRE!!

So my only experience with duals was back in the original title, but it was my main so take it as you will. The demon dance had a nasty range on either side of the character, but if he's tripping up a lancer either he or the lancer is in the wrong place. Duals have to come considerably close, so either the lancer is too close and targeting an area he shouldn't (as to allow the dual swordsman his 'area') or the dual swordsman is derpy and shouldn't be getting in the lancers way. I know I'm generalizing when I say this but lancers are always getting butthurt over other classes getting in their way, I can't even recall a lancer not taking this stance. But what do I know, I'm a SwAxe practitioner...

| But getting back on track to the hunting horn, I haven't had the opportunity to be on a team with a hunting horn user but I'll be totally welcome to one hunting with me...well, that's if they can use it. I was suddenly struck with this mental picture of this homely looking dude wailing on a hunting horn (TAKE IT SAX MAN!).
This is how I feel on the weapon - 1) It could add substantial benefits to the DPS of other members, therefor pulling his/her 'weight'. I'd like to know the factors on this to do a little number crunching. 2) Could potentially add other buffs that are not as tangibly measured but overall still contribute to the synergy of the hunting party. 3) Allows players with an affinity or want to play the supportive role a chance to fulfill said roll.
I hate this idea that if a weapon is not as DPS efficient all of the time as other weapons it is underpowered, never taking into account people's play styles or the sacrifice of brutal efficiency to have fun.
TL;DR - TAKE IT SAX MAN! | |

| I use the Hunting Horn in portable 3rd. My favorite one is the Qurupeco one for healing/earplugs. There are so many good buffs with the horn that it's pretty tough to choose which to use on a fight. I can't speak for Ultimate, but the damage is admittedly pretty low. Everyone I hunt with though really welcomes the bonus stun damage and especially the support I bring. | |

| I was actually very disapointed to not see the good ol' hunting horn in original Tri, so I'm gonna go nuts with it when MH3U is released. A support "class" for co-op is always nice, regardless of game : D

Pretty much what Quentin stated it was pretty under powered until third mhp3rd still in comparison to hammer it does very little damage. Hunting horn shines most as a supporting weapon with it's buff than an offensive weapon like hammer was. Exactly^ Yes, you can solo with the Hunting Horn, but will it be as fast and efficient like using a hammer? Not quite. It's main purpose is to buff both yourself and your team. But again, every hunter is different. There are hunters that use the HH as a support class and those that use it aggresive. It's like gunning almost, you can either play defensive. Using status shots to help the team, while doing somewhat decent damage. Offensive, using skills such as ADR+2, AuL, and/or Heroics, then take out a monster under 5 minutes. Or use a hybrid class! Every weapon can be used differently whether your going for huge damage output or being "that player" everyone loves when you start shredding some tunes out the HH ;)
