| EDIT III: Internet decided to :hicc: me so I didn't manage to edit (I was meant to edit this 2 days ago), anyway, did it with the devil slicer, fainted ONCE, because Rathian is also a :hicc: and attacked me when Rathalos was limping. Thanks for the help!
EDIT II: Probably the impossible option but, I could try and get some elder dragon bones and make a dark weapon? Just saying.
EDIT: I could use the Sonic Bow II, but are bows good for Rathian and Rathalos? Rathalos probably, because he spends a lot of time in the air, but Rathian I'm not so sure.
Hammer or spent a crap ton of time farming for ore?
I have the anvil hammer, but I'm not sure it's good enough, I think I might have to try and get the devil slicer... /no/
I tryed Rathalos alone with the anvil hammer, and didnt' survive 1 minutes in the same area as him xD But I kind of killed myself anyway so... eh.
Anvil hammer, or spend a ton of time trying to get the devil slicer.
I have the iron katana "Gospel" right now.... and I need a ton more stuff for the eager cleaver.
Also, bear in mind that I've got the 100 kills achievement for Ian and Los in tri... so the aren't a COMPLETE surprise. Neither was Diablos.
I'm also bringing traps and bombs, L+ to be exact, I know L+ and 4 traps is OVERKILL, but I don't care.

| The Anvil Hammer is actually a good choice, you just need to learn the Raths' patterns a bit better. Superpound is your friend.
Bows are good too, just watch out you don't get hit as Rathalos hits hard in Rage mode. In either case, when gunning, your best choice is the side. Aim for the head where possible, then the wings.
Oh, and here's a tip: If you're attacking the face and Rathian or Rathalos are about to roar, roll towards its left leg (your right). It should trip you and cancel the roar's effect. There's always Earplugs, too. You should be able to get that skill from the Yian Garuga's armour set.

| The thunder longsword (cant remember the name) is most probably the best choice for weapon. Remember to stand in the black shadow area after rathalos flies up. I usually go for the tail first as you can find yourself behind him a lot. Then face and then wings. When he charges at you , avoid his charge and set up a shock trap imidiately. | |

| With the thought in mind that the weaknesses differ slightly in mhfu, I find that Ice is a solid choice for fighting los and ian, and I used blango decimator longsword.
If you like electric though, I also found that the Khezu Shock (great) sword was pretty effective.

| Trap suggestions?
There are 3 trap options I've got for the fight.
1 pitfall, 3 shock.
2 pitfall, 2 shock.
3 pitfall, 1 shock.
Which one should I go for?
I'm thinking 1 pitfall, 3 shock because shock traps mean I can aim my L+ bombs better, because you've got to remember, although pitfalls have a better range and are more efficent for trapping, monsters like to struggle, so it's hard to aim right.
Or maybe 4 traps aren't needed?
I have no clue, this will be my first Ian and Los mhfu quest...
Ok, let me quickly give you my equipment.
Book of combos 1-5 (not sure if the 5th is needed) 10 potions 10 mega potions 10 honey 2 trap tool 1 shock trap 1 pitfall trap 2 genprey fangs/2 nets/1 genprey fang, 1 net (depends on what you guys think) 20 whetstone (depends on weapon of choice) 50 power coatings (depends on weapon of choice 20 paralysis coatings (depends on weapon of choise) 20 close range coatings (depends on weapon of choice) 99 empty bottles (depends on weapon of choice) 20 nitroshroom (depends on weapon of choice) 10 knife mackeral (depends on weapon of choice) 10 parashroom (depends on weapon of choise) 53 paintballs (yeah, I didn't collect 99, so what?) 8 tranq bombs 2 Lg barrel bomb+ 3 Lg barrel bomb 10 Sml barrel bomb 10 scatterfish 10 gunpowder 10 large barrel 10 herbs 10 blue mushrooms 5 flash bombs 10 antidotes
A lot of this depends on the weapon I choose, and same goes for trap materials, but am I ready?
ALMOST FORGOT! ARMOR!
If I go blademaster it'll be full ceanataur armour, if I gun it'll be full Kut-Ku D armour (to be honest, I need some better gunner armour soon, or my ass is gonna get kicked out there).
Weapons I have: Sonic bow II, Daimyo warbow II (III isn't hard to get), Blango Fur Bow III, Snow venom, Blango decimater, red saber, upper battleaxe, anvil hammer, iron gunlance+ (steel gunlance is easily obtainable), Ravager Blade+, Iron Katana "Gospel" (if you want me to go through the pain and agony of finding machalite and earth crystal, this will be the devil slicer), and the Melynx Ragdoll, of which is usless against fire wyverns, helpful for dual gypceros and dual blangonga though.
Bit overkill IMO, but who cares?
EDIT: Turns out I don't have enough inventory space. What do I really need? I don't think I'll take antidotes, because I should be able to dodge Rathian's tail whip and when Rathalos goes in the air I can just go under him.

| I says go make a devil slicer and go with 3 shock traps , as its easier to get the tail which means more carves

If I'm honest, that's more of a general question thread, not an advice thread. What I mean by general questions is questions like "how do I get this? what do I need to do to unlock this urgent? what's (insert monster here) weakness?", those sort of questions. Anyway, killed a Rathian in the guild hall with the Blango Decimater, it was REALLY easy TBH, and her move set is pretty basic. Fireball (gotta watch out for triple though) Charge (good oppurtunity for hits when she slides) Tail whip (gotta watch out for the double) 180 degree spin (sometimes does another 90 afterwards) Didn't take me very long either.

| Bro, just bring some pots, mega pots and max pots if you feel you need it, as well as essentials like whetstones and such. Traps, bombs, etc are all bonus. I used the Blango decimator as previously stated, and with ceanataur armor you should have plenty of defense to get through.
Although in terms of armor, I would highly recommend Full Garuga, with the exception of Garuga mask instead of helm. That helps you get HGE, RA+1, and something else I forgot. It's a pretty good set that should keep you happy untill you get something like Azure los.

Demonic Protection. Actually, Rathalos and Rathian only need normal Earplugs (with the exception of Golden Rathian, requires HGE). And you should, with couple of Razor Jewels, get Razor Sharp in too, which effectively halves the rate you lose sharpness (fantastic with other Yian Garuga weapons, as they already have ridiculous amounts of Green sharpness for Low Rank). However, you'll either have to use a ton of Protection Jewels or just go Actually, Rathalos and Rathian only need normal Earplugs (with the exception of Golden Rathian, requires HGE). I highly reccomend Garuga's armour set. Advice for the future: Mix the Yian Garuga Helm and Azure Rathalos armour. Should give you a nice anti-Wyvern set, especially for Yian Garuga (RA+2, Earplugs, AuL with good gemming).

| I used Dark Scythe (not reccomended). I do reccomend a descent LS and for armor you should use what has already been listed. | |
