| OK, I was waiting on a response from Capcom US (Yuri, Sevenson or Andrew) before posting so here it is.
Apparently Capcom Japan (or so it seems) has known for some time they would have the servers region seperated. They set up the program and system regardless of Nintendo being the host this go round. They did not even inform Capcom US or EU of this decision and released the announcement to a magazine before even letting them know.
Capcom US/EU found out at the same time the rest of the west did.
______________________________________________________________________________
Yuri from Capcom US stated:
"I am not thrilled with the servers being split either..." "... be sure I will pass this along (speaking about the negative response recieved to this news) "There is no guarantee this will change though."

| Back when MH3U (and a bit before) was first announced Capcom Japan gave Capcom US/EU stricked orders that any announcements for the west would only come from Japan and not the western Capcom studios. It seems no suprise that in this instance Capcom Japan would bipass the US/EU companies with this announcement all together. What's sad however is with all the efforts Capcom US has been putting in to keep the fans informed and providing all the extras they could for the west pretty much on their own... Capcom Japan would pull something like this. | |

It must not occur to them the amount of money they would earn if they released a lot more content to the West..I mean c'mon lol

| Pain... For the most part.. the content (as far as amount is there) or at least in MHFU and 3U.
The problem is, is Capcom Japans (as well as a lot of japanease game companies) outlook on intelectual properties. It's the "What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine" out look almost. Though some companies are working to get away from this.. it's difficult. And there is a lot of history behind it as well as a lot of other things involved.
The main issue at this point is the servers. Japan not being able to play with the US/EU is understandable due to the larg amount in game release time and differences in game content and player language. But the same can not be said for the US and EU. The language in the EU region is alredy divers.. the Same could be said for the US as well. Nintendo also already has open servers for most if not almost all it's online games. Also with MH3U being released pretty much the same time and having the same content in both regions, this can not be used as a reason for the seperation.
The next reason would be "Stability". This also is a bit of a streatch since it's Nintendos servers and they already have open region games and in this case it's Capcom Japans choice not Nintendos.. So not Stability for the servers.
The only thing that can be though of for the decision at this point is that Capcom JApan just wanted to keep the reasons seperate in the west. Ultimately unless they explain why, we might never know.

| While I would like to be able to play with Japan players, I do understand that they would be intimidated by the rest of the world doing better than them in their own game /yes/ Yep, that has to be the reason.
In all seriousness though, as long as we have a decent following that allows us to enjoy the game in good company, the region lock is of no big issue to me, and I would hope for most players.

| I figured that EU nor U.S would play with Jap, but that doesn't mean there is still the chance for inter-euro-american servers, right? | |

| EU and US play is what this is about Sai_.
Capcom Japan has made the decision to not allow any region to intermingle.

| ^ Only certain decisions of Capcom as Capcom US has been the ones really pushing for the west to get MH, all the extra stuff, trying to have open servers and so on. They win some battles here and there but lose others sadly. Here is an article speaking about the servers: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-08-monster-hunter-3-ultimates-multiplayer-servers-will-be-region-lockedAlso a little bit more information: Apparently Capcom EU got an email just before Capcom Japan broke the news but Capcom US pretty much did not find out until the rest of the world did or until reading the forums the next morning. | |

| Yuri at Capcom US clarified that both Capcom US/EU were notified shortly before CapJap announced the locked servers but were trying to get some answers before fulling revealing it.. Apparently they didn't realize CapJap was going to announce it like that. Capcom US are still speaking with CapJap for answers and working on bringing more information to the west but at this time it seems Capcom US/EU nor us may recieve any. | |

The only 2 reasons I see is: 1. Stupidity 2. Latency between U.S, EU, and Jap players Latency isn't much of a problem IMO, I've played with EU peeps with good internet and everything is fine online, so the main reason would be stupidity.
