Hey guys,
I was wondering what weapon each hunter uses for each monster in MH3U? Because I know that there are preferred weapons for certain monsters (SA for Deviljho, Hammer for Rathian), so I was just wondering if people use the same weapons for the same monster or that it's still a matter of personal preference.
To make it easier, here's a list of all monsters in MH3U: Great Jaggi: Great Baggi: Great Wroggi: Arzuros: Lagombi: Volvidon: Qurupeco: Crimson Qurupeco: Barroth: Jade Barroth: Uragaan: Steel Uragaan: Duramboros: Rust Duramboros: Rathian: Pink Rathian: Gold Rathian: Rathalos: Azure Rathalos: Silver Rathalos: Diablos: Black Diablos: Gigginox: Baleful Gigginox: Barioth: Sand Barioth: Royal Ludroth: Purple Ludroth: Gobul: Nibelsnarf: Lagiacrus: Ivory Lagiacrus: Abyssal Lagiacrus: Agnaktor: Glacial Agnaktor: Nargacuga: Green Nargacuga: Lucent Nargacuga: Zinogre: Stygian Zinogre: Plesioth: Green Plesioth: Brachydios: Ceadeus: GoldBeard Ceadeus: Deviljho: Jhen Mohran: Hallowed Jhen Mohran: Alatreon: Dire Miralis:
Feel free to only list a few monsters, or armor skills, I'm just curious about other players' choices

I use dual blades for raths, usually. It feels great to trip monsters for other players.

Ah, a teamwork decision. That's what I hate most about solo play, you can't do that kind of stuff :/ Good to see people thinking about teamwork out there though

as you may notice i dont know about all the weapons, it is still preference.
Ura/steel: hammer/hunting horn, bowgun it get's ko'd easily, and generally safer from ranged (except the rolling)
Duram/rust: bow to hit the backhumps
ian/pink los/azure: hammer/hunting horn, greatsword. their heads are stupidly weak
Gold/silver rath: normal or elemental bowgun. have fun with the blademaster hitzones!
nox/baleful: bowgun most of the annoying attacks (including roar spam) are avoided through ranged.
Ivory Lagiacrus: normal bowgun (can do rapid fire dragon s, but it's difficult without status support) easy access to weak tail, dragon s works if you can hit the head or back.
Abyssal Lagiacrus: bowgun, dragon s only nub! watch as abyssal melts before your eyes! shoot head, receive flinchlock
Zin/stig: pellet bowgun, hunting horn the head is easy to hit with hunting horn, and is a magnet for pellet.
Plesi/green: bow, pierce bowgun annoying attacks avoided through ranged
Ceadeus: lance, longsword lance charge while you're chasing it, then spam into oblivion
GoldBeard Ceadeus: bowgun, dragon s only nub! moar flinchlock
Deviljho: switchaxe
Jhen/hallowed: greatsword when the cracks are broken, you can still hit the weakpoint inside with greatsword.
Alatreon: hammer/hunting horn, greatsword, kelbi bow head is weakpoint, 420 slime it
Dire Miralis: pierce bowgun it's long

Ain't hard to hit the wings considering even though I attack the feet, I end up breaking their wings. They're easy to trip and flash bomb out of the sky, so attacking the back and wing is no problem.
So yeah, I'll have fun being a blademaster. :p

I know, we're sorry. Who are we to choose any other weapon other than the almighty Kelbi bow?

Gunlance. Gunlance on everything. If you need another weapon for a monster, you need to try harder.

I managed to Sword and Shield every monster just fine.
It seems that they bought down Greatswords a notch and buffed all other weapons to bring them out of niche roles. I noticed that ALL weapons can be used without GREAT deviation of effectiveness from monster to monster.
With that said, some weapons are more effective against monsters not because of vast differences in power (as it was the case in previous monster hunters), its due to the subtler nuances of the weapon such as attack speed, player mobility, the option to block, or weapon reach. The (re)addition of underwater combat also profounds this delicate balance.
