| I rather enjoy hearing about great hunts... specially from those that like telling the stories and can properly embelish them. I am sure I am not the only one either.
So please, post your hunting story. Can be anything from your first hunts, your most annoying, the most epic feeling, the good, the bad, the remorseful... Sky's the limit.

| Hunting Journal is not what i had in mind. Journal is more: Here is what I have done so far. What I am talking about is more creative.
But hey... i am already used to people taking the path of least resistance. Want to do something new? Nah, already been done, just stick to what is there. sigh. Another strike against these forums in my eyes.

If you didn't mean the Hunting Journal, why didn't you say that in the first place.

| on MH3 tri Wii - I decided to do the 4 horns quest. Me and some idiot chased 2 diablos around until we totally ran out of potions. We carted twice and had to use the bed to heal up. Finally beat those 2 things with like 10min left.
We were overconfident, and under-prepared.

| Me and my brother were hunting diablos. After twenty minutes or so my brother sets up a large barrel bomb and kicks it. The blast hits diablos right in the face and it dies on impact. The end. | |

| I think what Sephastus had in mind was more something like this:
Once I was hunting a Royal Lutroth in the Moga Woods. It was a hard and bitter fight (no it wasn't, but for the sake of the story lets pretend) but finally, with the help of my brave little Shakalaka friends, I had weakend it so much, it could only limb away. So I ran to the brink of the area to put up a trap before it could leave. Just as I had put up the trap one of my Shakalaka comrades, I couldn't see which one it was, threw his boomarang and cut off the monsters tail, which send it stumbling directly into my trap where I could capture it.

| This one dates back from MH3, but it's still pretty awesome I was fighting the Alatreon for the first time with 2 comrades. I got carted once pretty quickly, but we were managing. Unfortunately, one of the guys had to go, leaving us 2 to fight him, but not before taking all the supplies... So, we kept fighting. Unfortunately, I got carted a second time. I had no Potions, Mega Potions, Max Potions or Ancient Potions left, and no Cool Drinks. Basically, my health was slowly decreasing with a rampaging Alatreon running around and I had no way to heal. My buddy kept me alive once with a well-timed Lifepowder. Eventually, I had about 25 HP left with less than 10 minutes left on the clock when he finally killed it. Most nerve-wrecking hunt I ever had. Only hunt that perhaps comes close is my dual Brachy-Urgent in Mh3U. I got so angry at them for constantly hitting me I decided to do a little rampage of my own and kill them while constantly at about 20 HP. That taught them to mess with me. | |

| Can I post one from MHFU as well? I have a couple of good ones ^^
MHFU: I'd just hit G Rank, and I needed some Green Plesioth materials to upgrade my water bow. Unfortunately, it was the summer holidays, so I had to play on my own, and since the normal Green Plessy was a bit too tough for me, I did the Subspecies Three quest instead (Blue Kut-Ku, Green Plessy, Plum Daimyo). Took down the Kut-Ku in 10 minutes, and the Plesy in 20, leaving me 20 minutes for the Plum Daimyo. The problem is, this thing hit like a truck, and simply refused to die. I had to use literally EVERYTHING I had to damage this thing, adrenaline, demondrugs, attack up, you name it. In the end I had it limping, and I had two deaths and no healing items left. I went to its nest, using adrenaline because of sheer lack of health, and killed it with the clock flashing. Finish time - 49:57. I killed it with the last arrow I could have had time to fire. Thankfully, I got the materials I needed, because I was not doing that quest again X_X
Tri: We were fighting the Mega Alatreon in a group of four, but I think I was the only one with optimum armor for the task, so we expected it to take a while. Sure enough, 46 minutes into the quest and 2 deaths later, two of our teammates gave up and abandoned the quest. Dunno why me and the other guy refused to abandon, but we kept going in a duo for the next 3 minutes, and about 1 minute from the end of the quest, we killed it and both ended up with Skypiercers as a reward ^^

| My victory over the Alatreon a while back was definitely a thrill for me.
- Spoiler:
Imagine feeling absolutely hopeless to defeat the village Alatreon after having lost to it at least two or three times already and you have the feeling I fought it with, expecting to earn myself another loss to this strengthened monster, yet trying anyway. Its new moves had thrown me for a loop after having been so good at fighting them on Tri, along with it seeming like it had more health than before. I had felt so accomplished just unlocking this only to be thrown down by its sudden power, its newfound moves that challenged my strategies. I had both Power and Armor Talons and Charms in my bag, all four items to boost me, yet I just couldn't win. It was a new day, early in the morning. I had revenge on mind, yet hopelessness in my sword. How could I keep doing this to myself? What was I thinking? I made sure I had 10 potions and mega potions, along with all the lifepowder and dust of life I could carry, plus a new idea I enjoyed using on other monsters: bombs. It still flew up to rain ice from the heavens, allowing for its return to give a chance at blowing it up. I took on the mission with this on mind, though I shook with anticipation and unsure nerves. It was a grueling battle, discouragement filling me after two deaths and running out of healing items. Should I retreat this time? Should I just give up and throw in the towel to this mighty monster that I used to face so often on Tri? No. I had a tail carve in my bag and a weakened monster on the battlefield. If I lost, I lost. I decided to give up on reason, give up on strategy, and charged out there after drinking a cold drink. I fought without planning, simply aiming to hit it. I was so happy when I won, especially with only a little over three minutes left. I can very well say that I earned that ring, along with the fact that I have an easier time teaming up with my brother against Dire Miralis.
My younger brother and I also had a fun round against a Savage Deviljho.- Spoiler:
As my younger brother knew, I am into the idea of earning all the awards in Monster Hunter games, especially this one. When I questioned what monster's award would go in a spot he said a monster award was in, he regretfully answered me with "the Savage Deviljho." This was a thrilling idea for me, so he posted the event Crimson Qurupeco quest that ensured its summon. After all, this was another Deviljho, something I enjoy fighting, only stronger! At first, he attempted to prevent its summon, but my stopping attacking allowed for the Crimson Qurupeco's first try to be its last, and to be successful; in charged the mighty Deviljho, its skin appearing to already be that of an enraged Deviljho's. I was expecting this, having seen them before in other quests that I was alone in. I felt ready, switching my aim straight to it while my brother tried to defeat the Crimson Qurupeco to no avail. After the bird left, my brother assisted me with the Deviljho after I warned him that if we didn't get it this time, I would only continue to have him assist me against more of them until we did. What I wasn't aware of is that while I had good dodging skills against them, my brother was lacking some, causing us to gain two strikes during our battle. I, too, ended up using a good amount of healing items, but we weren't through with the monster just yet. I wasn't mad at him, though he was displeased with the deaths. We were in area 8 when it happened. As we fought, the monster turned to run into area 11. To our surprise and relief, it did just what we needed; it got stuck running against the anthill. I was quick to say that we needed to take full advantage of this, both of us running over and beating it into limping. It was still stuck, and so we were able to defeat it. It took us a while to find the main quest monster, but we did, defeating the Crimson Qurupeco. My brother definitely made sure to make it clear that for that, it was "never again," even if he got no black blood while I only got two.

| It was during nightime. I was supposed to be sleeping, for the next day I had work to do. But something keep bugging me the entire night. It was my 3DS, left turn on about half an hour ago. I was fighting the mighty Alatreon. It took me days of careful preparation, I finished all the quests the Guild Sweetheart had prepared for me in the village solo mode. I managed to beat the Ivory Lagiacrus, the Deviljho and a annoyingly frustrating Arena quest. I thought I was prepared, but I was wrong. And there I laid, on my bed without any indication of sleepiness. I had an unfinished matter. This was the fifth time fighting the almighty beast. I went on with my Nargacuga Ninja armor and a slimey Brach Katana equipped, and my two Shaka friends of course. Died... and died again. Two carts, 3 of each type of potion and only 15 minutes to end the quest. Damn the dark beast, it doesn't matter how much I injured her, she would not show it. And then, with only 10 minutes left before the quest ended, I did it. With a perfectly aimed blow at the dammned beast chest she falled, she died and I won. That night was of silent celebration so my parents wouldn't come into the room and yell at me because of playing at those hours. I didn't sleep anyway, the happyness and excitement of that victory left me awake for the rest of the night.

| Had a fun one yesterday, though it did work its way to midnight
- My first Moonlit Tryst solo:
As anyone who's recently seen the hunting journal would know, I've been fighting a good number of Gold Rathians recently, which I also did this for a while yesterday, before deciding I would try "Moonlit Tryst," just because. I feel somewhat of a sense of respect toward this quest, as strange as this may sound to some, but it is a quest to cause even some of the better hunters to become weary, cautious, unsure of the idea of soloing it. Without smoke bombs, I was surprised that I was successful in the end, and without carting once, along with even getting the small gold crown for Silver Los in the end... While the quest was still loading, I was reminding myself that this was possibly the worst decision I've made in a long time, to take on such a quest without smoke bombs, solo, and so I was bound to lose. I mean, this is, after all, Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos at the same time in this small, one-area map (not counting base camp, of course, though that spot barely even counts for that much). However, for some reason, my mind suddenly went to the last time I tried to solo the Silver Los quest... I had failed due to time, to how much health it had, and suddenly my mind was made up; he was going first. I wasn't thinking anymore about losing, but about showing him who's boss now. Luckily, when I entered the area, sure enough, the Gold Rathian was a good distance away still while Los was almost right next to me, to my right. I was quick to begin attacking, ignoring his roars with the Miralis set's earplugs and dodging his fireballs. It was only a matter of possibly one, two minutes before Kayamba or Cha-Cha thought they would be cute and get the Ian's attention... So it was on. This was when I recalled my brother's tactic he had picked up off YouTube, using the lance's shielding capability while standing in a corner and having these two basically beat one another until one defeated the other. I made sure to keep fighting the Los while trying to stay on the opposite side of him from his partner, something I also do with other multi-monster quests, causing her to mostly hit him, unless she was targeting one of the Shakalakas. I knew from facing her in "Ring of the Golden Lune" that I can defeat her in less than twenty minutes, so I wasn't worried about whether or not she took heavy damage before the Los fell (apparently she did), just so long as I could take him down fast enough to then handle what health she had left. To my joy, while he was mid-flight and nearly defeated, the Gold Rathian took him down, causing him to plummet to the merciless ground below, the way they all do when defeated that way. I could tell she was pretty weak by this point; both of them had hit the drooling point at the same time a while back, and she had taken moments to roar since then. I went at her without mercy, my blade taking her down with ease. When this was all over, I had no more healing items, having even used my Ancient Potion, my cart recover item, the last item I would ever use to simply heal, even though I hadn't carted. Not only did I feel great, having now proved to myself that I truly can solo any non-event mission (besides G rank Jhen or its subspecies), but I was even further rewarded with the Silver Rathalos small crown.
- Moonlit Tryst, second round:
I switched back to Gold Ian for a while after my first successful soloing of "Moonlit Tryst" before deciding I should try to use the Rathian from "Pretty and Pink" to get the small crown for Gold Ian. A long shot, yes, but it appealed to me, for some unknown reason... Perhaps because this was the very last small crown I needed? I actually got really lucky here; the Rathian was a small gold (during the mission, I even poked some fun at her in my thoughts that she looked puny) and the huge Pink Rathian was, in fact, a large gold crown... It was a perfect setup for my small gold Gold Ian and large gold Silver Los I still needed, so I returned to the tower for another round of "Moonlit Tryst." Sure enough, the Gold Ian turned out to be a small crown while the huge Silver Los was a large gold crown; it worked. I went in feeling pretty hopeful; I had the last crowns I needed for both of them standing before me as I entered the area to fight them. What I wasn't expecting, however, was just how intense of a battle I was in for this time... Kayamba, to my dismay, ran almost immediately at the Gold Rathian, and so I had both of them after me almost straight from the start. I struggled, rolling and swinging my way out of desperate, deadly situations, from being cornered by both of them to being wedged under one while the other was relentlessly trying to snap at me from behind. I carted, twice, before the Silver Rathalos finally drew his last breath and fell to the unwelcoming dirt beneath him. My healing items were low, and the Gold Rathian made sure to handle that... I ran out and was left feeling shaky, nervous, unsure of victory now as I dodged around her attacks like a scared rabbit. I was far from wanting to be poisoned, yet she was using so many moves that threatened to do just that to me... It was a moment of the Shakalaka both being down... Throughout the round, I had been using and making Farcasters, and this moment had me considering using another... No. I had to fight. I dodged around threateningly now, swinging at every open opportunity and dancing around her swinging tail, her spinning body. When she fell, it was a moment of celebration for me... Along with being around twelve thirty-something in the morning, also known as about half past midnight. I still had no regrets. That quest made it official: I now have all small crowns and have both gold crowns for Gold Ian and Silver Los

I was hunting the Agnaktor and we ut off it's tail. I go over to carve it and once my hunter bent down the Agnaktor's freaking lava beam went right over my head.
