Post3DS games worth getting!

With Pokemon X/Y coming out soon and the 3ds actually being the top selling game system in the world right now.. Many people are grabing it and the special consoles when they see it.. In the west there are not as many as in Japan due to the marketing differences.

(Quick info: MUch of the west keeps full stock of items out in the front where you can see them and just pick up what you want where in a lot of asian countries the stock is kept in the back and only display items are in the front... This unfortunately allows for more variaty in asian contries and less in the west)

Anyways for those picking up the 3DS and looking for something to play or thinking about getting it and not knowing what's there here's a quick list of only the top ones I think are the main ones to own!

(The list is for all regions and includes upcoming games as well)

1. Animal Crossing New leaf - Highly adictive and with the most to do of any game in the series... a collectors dream game and one that will keep you playing year round.

2. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - A new RPG from Square with some amazing looking detail the story has gotten some high praise in japan so far and looks to be a great substitute if not full replacement for the FF series...

3. Code of Princess - old school side scrolling beat em' up at it's best.

4. Fire Emblem: Awakening - Probably the best game in the series with a great story line and much replay value. It is absolutely one to have in your collection and if you have never played and Turned based stratagy RPG this is the one to try out..

5. Shin Megami Tensei 4 - One of the most popular RPG series in Japan but Like many other popular games not well know in the west (much due to it's content and themes.) It is considered a very adult game and with a high learning curve. very challenging.

6. Monster Hunter 3U and Monster Hunter 4 upon release - Not really sure I need to tell everyone here about these game but for those just randomly browsing I would kind of br repeating myself when saying, "One of the most popular RPG series in Japan but Like many other popular games not well know in the west". For many who aren't use to the MH series it can be really challenging but it's aseries worth being a devoted follower.. so much so you should join/lead a forum for it!!!!

7. Legend of zelda: OoT and Legend of Zelda A link Between word (this also includes all the eshop Zelda games) - Lets face it... It's zelda.. OoT is a classic and LBW is shaping up to be one of the most beautiful looking handheld (if not Zelda games) that they have made on any system in a long time.

8. Colors 3D - not technically a game and the only eshop game I am putting on the list (though several of the eshop games rate higher than some of the full retail games listed). Colors 3D is one of the most amazing Art programs I have ever seen on a prortable device. You can get better ones on a laptop or PC but some of the art I have seen has been amazing and fun. Also nintendo has opted not to censor... meaning you can apropriately age lable your art and as long as it is appropriate.. you can post it.

9. POkemon X/Y - the first truely big change to the main game series since the games creation (IMO) and it's looking beautiful... Can't wait to see the final product.

10. Level 5 - Basically all the games on the 3ds by Leval 5 so far have been amazing and worth picking up. They have really shown a great deal of quality in there games...

This list is pretty much just the 10 main ones that first come to mine.. I really hope in the future to have a list for the PS4/XB1/PSV/WiiU.. but at the moment the 3DS seems to be the main system of the the new ones out.. If you have a 3ds and have a list of your own of the top ones to own.. what are they?

Bravely Default won't be out in America until 2014 apparently.

I would like to strongly recommend Kid Icarus Uprising, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and Super Mario 3D Land.

Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario 3D Land aren't too difficult, but 3D Land really pumps the difficulty if you're going for 100%. I haven't played through all of Luigi's Mansion. I just played through the story mode. Story mode wasn't too hard, but it was really fun. I haven't tried the little challenge tower though, but I'm sure it's just as fun.

Kid Icarus can really appeal to hardcore gamers. You can have a choice of what difficulty you can play on for each level, and intensity 9 is balls-bustingly hard. Online is also pretty competitive, and a lot goes into this game. The only thing hindering this game is the controls. If you look up any reviews on this game, they'll talk about how bad the controls are. Honestly, I don't find them to be that difficult to get used to. Plus the soundtrack is awesome /rock/

The controls in Kid Icarus weren't bad. The game was playable. The problem with the controls in Kid Icarus was that the game literally hurt your left arm. I had the same problem with Mario Kart 7. The L button is evil.

Kid icarus was an amazing game.. and I do recomend it as well.... what held it back from my list was the fact that Nintendo never released the full card set.... Though it's not really needed to play the game it is part of the game.. and if you are like me and were excited to actually play with the AR aspect of the game then found out that they were never going to be released in your area... well it was quite disapointing...

MArio games did not make my list either as.. well they are released very often and not much changed between each 3DS edition that is out.

Mario Kart 7 was a lot of fun.. but as soon as 8 is out.. i don't see 7 really getting played much while most other games on the list even with there sequals and such coming out they would still be highly playable..

Also before anyone mentions it.. Tales of the Abyss is an amazing game!!! Just not an amazing remake.. and while I recomend anyone who has not played it or would like to own a copy to get it.. it's not a must have.. great game.. not a great remake/update.

^ absolutely!

@ Meta, yea they are, along with 200 more characters as well. Some really well known ones and some not so well known. Even Bruce Willise. It is a very fun game but not one that will have wide appeal unfortunately. If you are a fan of games or fun story lines or strategy rpg's its worth getting though.

So your reason that a good game isn't on the list is because a rather irrelevant thing(ar) wasnt completely included? Do tell, how often did you actually use the ar component, I honestly forgot it was even a thing. Its not even like Kingdom Hearts where it ties into the main game(slightly), and if its anything like that you can just scan them off your monitor.

Yet OoT is on the list, the game with like, 4 ports. Not that I disapprove of your decision at all because seriously...New super mario bros is anything but new at this point(especially the wii u version...no AA, 720p...great to know the wiiu cant even handle that. So much for a good looking, hd zelda).

I haven't been following it at all, whatd they change besides moving from sprites?

the complete change of the metagame: new Fairy type that trumps dragons.

...that's the gist. unless your one of the newfags that complains every time they make a new game that "the series died after the 1st 151 pokemon", just the typical things to expect with a new generation of pokemon

^ meta game means a lot in Pokemon. Also don't forget the pet mode thing like nintendogs, which allows you to increase your relationship. Also x/y will be the first time in the core series history the finally change the look of the battles.

@Chipou: overall each zelda game has core similarities but many differences as well in looks gameplay and variety. And while you may bring up OoT... There is only one remake of it on this system. In the past year alone and coming up there have already been several side scrolling mario games. Each one with little overall difference other than a new suit here or there. (In no way am I saying the games are bad so don't missunderstand that) just that if you get one of them its just as good as getting any of them. Overall you are not missing out.

With the zelda series however (Again we are only focusing on the 3DS) there are are less releases, especially new title (main focus new titles) and since the story/gameplay/challenge is quite different though the core of the series remains the same... If you play one zelda game its not the same as playing the others. Hence the reason Zelda games made MY list and mario did not. Your list may differ.

Also on kid Icarus, my reasoning, while its a good game it was not completely supported. Regardless of it not being a major feature it was a game feature and a heavily advertised selling point of the game by Nintendo. If the marketed the feature they should have made it fully available and followed through with it, otherwise it's offering an incomplete product. And on principle I can't fully stand behind a product that is impossible to acquire all of its marketed features, or in the US' pretty much any of them. Japan was offered the cards at retail and even the EU was given a limited period of time to order all of them through club Nintendo. In the US only about 70 of the 671 cards were ever released.

ooh... fucking Pokédogs... cause that was the most badass thing mentioned about the future of pokemon. the entire change in how competitive battles will now forever be "moe balanced" has nothing on the fact i can pet a bidoof.

and who cares about the AR cards, it's wasn't even really cared about when they came out anyways. KIU was one of the best 3DS games for quite some time. The Story is awesome, the characters are memorable, the competitive is insane. and your only gripe is that you couldn't get a tempura wizard card?

^ My gripe is that they advertised something and highly promoted it then did not follow through with it.. regardless of what it was. If they promote something as a selling feature of the game they should follow through with it.. Oto I understand your opinion is different than mine.. People do have different opinions ya know... I mayself just think that if a game company is going to promote a game and use a feature ti SELL the game it should actually be offered.

Now moving on.... That we've established people have different opinions (HFA!)

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (Working title) is listed as an upcoming game for the Nintendo 3ds... So far only Persona 5 is known to be in devlopment, but this does not rule out Persona 4 (golden) being ported to the 3ds.

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2: Break Record is also listed as an upcoming release for later this year.

Also, something nintendo has begun to do (especially on the 3ds) to allow quicker localization and less hassle is to release games in the west on the eshop that would normally have been released at retail..... This includes some games I think many have been waiting on.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is listed to release on the US/EU eshops this fall. If I recall we have a few fans of the series on the forums..

Too soon to say a new type is going to heavily change the metagame. If all the fairy type pokemon are shit(loljigglypuff) and their moves are shit, then its not going to do anything. Physic type was only balanced when two new types were thrown in and bug and ghost stopped being shit. The physical/special split will likely have more of an impact than this will.

I havent complained about zeldas being incredibly similar, if i did id probably be hating all of nintendo right about now(if it means anything, tp is my favorite, followed by majoras mask and then windwaker). I just said it already had ports on both the game cube and wii. Not sure why it needed another one(especially a rather half assed one, but I cant blame them considering they didnt really want to do it to begin with). Maybe im being unfair and it really improved it. I wouldnt know as I dont feel like owning 3 copies of the game.

I'm pretty sure that the announcement that a new type is being incorporated to balance Dragons within the meta, we can safely say it changes it for damn sure.

Xerneas is a fairy. Which even as a predictable Uber, you can already see the impact it has in tier by threatening the most used threats within tier.

Ehh it may balance it to a point but you have to remember dragons also have relatively large move pools so it's really only going to nullify their dragon moves but none of the rest. Now in terms of attacking yeah they will surely take out dragons pretty easily just defending against them will be the main issue. If blissey gets fairy typing now THAT will more than change it being how bulky it is.
