PostSony Vita TV / vita slim

Well the bad news (for Sony) is that the PS4 will not be released in Japan until next years, still this year for the rest of us though. Saddly though it seems the japan sales are what matters in the videogame world.... Though I don't think this will be much of a problem for the PS4 in the end.

But even though Japan gets a PS4 delay they and all of us will still be seeing a Sony home console launching soon. Sony has announced the Vita TV.

BAsically it's a device you connect to your TV and conect a PS3 controller to it to make it a (non-portable) Vita home syatem.

It's adds a few things such as the Sony Music library but still requiers a Vita Memory card. All in all though if you are willing to drop the portability and want to play vita games at home, the device costs $150 with a controller and memory card. or $100 without anything else.

It's only been officially announced for Japan but is likely to hit the west as well.

So what do you all think? Nintendo announces a 3d-less 2DS and sony announces a portable-less Vita...

If you listen closely you can hear the death cries of the Ouya.

lmfao, yes.

This seems like a really good idea. The only issue being touchscreen translation to controller. Vita TV looks like it's the Ouya killer. Though the Ouya wasn't that alive in the first place.

I'm interested to see how this turns out for Sony, I think it has the potential to succeed.

Hm...so basically it's nothing really new or exciting, but just a cheaper PS3 with maybe slightly different games, all of which are made for a handheld? I'm not sure if this will really do much...but it's probably not meant to either way. Just a small piece of hardware to keep customers happy and provide that widescreen feeling.

Also, the Ouya was judged unfairly. The first console a company makes can't be without flaws, and it wasn't meant to do what people thought it would. A niche console for a cheap price, for a fairly specific audience, having a few things a small amount of people really want but can't get with regular consoles, that's what it is. Not the salvation of consoles, or the crusher of MS, Ninty or Sony.

Not that i'm even a big fan, the games it was supposed to handle are in my opinion meant to stay on handhelds/smartphones...but the backlash is just unfair.

Except it can also stream your PS4 games while your PS4 is in another room, so there is that. Also, unlike the Ouya, it actually has games worth mentioning where as the ouya has...................uhhh...............angry birds? Also, the Ouya isn't flawed really, it's just fucking useless.

Stream ps4 games to another room? Ya know, for 99 more you can take your Vita games (which are basically the same as the ps4 games) to another room.. or another house.. heck even on a plane, train or bus to another city.

Also Win, if I read everything correctly it wont take store bought carts only PSN downloads... So it's likely the device will only let you buy compatable games that work without the touch screen or reach around on the back of the PSV.

Sony has now announced (on top of the Vita TV) it will also be releasing a "Slimmer", "Cheaper" PSVita 2000 model later this year. It will also have multiple colors (something sony stated earlier this year as not doing because people only wanted black and didn't care about colors or special editions.)

But don't get your hopes up if you want one.. Sony said right now it's Japan exclusive.
