whew! finally got my account working! there's a formula on the wiki on using coatings where your attack power can be multiplied by 1.5x using power coatings but it's really kinda difficult to create a formula: see, there's such a lot of weapons to choose from and each with it's own unique ability and there's the part where you need to hit a monster specifically to "maximize" your damage output. most hunters just use the chart where you can see the monster's weak spot. i used that one too a long time ago but try googling that chart and it's quite helpful to newbie hunters. it's already loaded with info on what element to use and status attacks. you can also see the weak points and parts you can break or cut off.
