Congrats! ^_^

My team when I went through Platinum was:

Torterra,
Staraptor.

I used those two until the E4, I did use a HM slave, though I can't remember which one it was.
Once I reached the E4, I got a Garchomp to help me through it. I then ran through the E4 with them and many supplementary items xD.

Glad I'm not the only one who likes Staraptor!, :D.

well what i did in platinum was use a pokemon with the move thunder wave & a other with falseswipes once it got to the point when azelf was paralyzed & at 1 hp i used Ultra Ball & i think i used dusk balls too any way hope this helps.
also most electric pokemon learns it by tm 73 & false swipes sneasel learn that by tm 54 .
if you can,t do any of this putting it to sleep ok i guess just make sure that its low on hp
=) good luck man.

problem is the only pokemon i got that does sleep is a level 15 Bronzor.
once i get its hp down with other pokemon (thats not too hard) and send in my Bronzor to do Hypnosis, he always one hits my Bronzor to death Sad by vort

azelf, and the rest of the legendarys you will find, have the lowest catch rate possible XD

use dusk balls on azelf as its in cave, so they work better.

and yeah, azelf has stupid high attacks, so weak pokemon will die quickly

i would reccomend paralysing it as that wont wear off, while sleep will Sad by vort

Although sleep increases capture rate more then paralysis does. But yeah, it's definetly easier with para, since it also halves the targets speed.

my pokemons are about level 44, while Azelf is level 50...
now if i only had a pokemon with para attacks >.>

and dusk balls, what the hell is that? im currently at the 8th gym and so far the best i can buy are ultra balls >.> where can i get them?

well you say the legendary pokemons have a low catch rate, Palkia was indeed super-easy, his health was still orange when i threw that ultra ball without any status; i think after 2 ultras he was in...
Azelf must have a higher catch rate, as i lowered his health to almost nothing (i think 1 or 2 hp) and doesnt stay in after 15 ultra balls...

Go to Celestic Town for some dusk balls i think the old man sells them for 1000 each
also if you want get a pikachu (any level) and put it first in your team then fight azelf also make sure you have quick attack on it & then use quick attack it has a 30% chance of getting paralyzed thanks to pikachu ability static =) if azelf kills pikachu bring it back by a revive or restart the game you should only have to restart maybe about 4-6 times the most? any way good luck again also train you pokemon up to 50 it helps :D

palkia has a catch rate 10 times higher than azelf, to make up for the trainer not being able to heal before fighting it

edit: the lower the catch rate, the harder it is

figured it out and chased mesprit for some time but gave up
encountered it once and it immediately fled.
for the other tries just when i was at the area the map showed he was at, he left off to 'nother area. that repeated about 15 times. then i gave up xD
i wuz wonderin is the only way to catch him using master ball? his stats and moves dont seem that awesome...

You can stop mesprit from fleeing by using a pokemon with arena trap or shadow tag ability (wobbuffet, trapinch & diglett iirc).

Alternatively, mean look will prevent pokemon from fleeing, just make sure the pokemon has higher speed than mesprit.

This is what I usually do:

First, buy enough revives/potions for you to feel secure going against strong trainers in a row.

After that, It might be a good idea to go up against them once, just to learn what kind of Pokemon they have, and their levels, but not use all of your revives, potions etc. If you see that they're a lot stronger then you, then perhaps you should do some training before you start again. But if you notice that you can compete with them, then you can use revives etc to get as far as possible, and ultimately win. The test round can be done in two ways. First of all, save before you enter. Then you can fight them for knowledge only, and turn off the game without saving when/if you black out. Or you can fight them for exp and lose a bit of money. Once you know their levels, and feel that you can take em on, then it's time to go all out on them >: D

I was planning to test but now Im at the 4th guy, so im trying to beatem at once.
This 4th tguy is the hardest though cause he uses psychic pokemons and i dun really have anything particularly good against him.
