"Status SnS is really bad" WHAT! You said status SnS is really bad!?! I have to admit nardebosche is better damage wise But those few seconds when the monster is para'd and you're friends do lots of damage is PRICELESS... I/most things > status sns....cmon...uve seen it.... Yeah... you para the monster twice in the hunt. That's well and good, except that your damage contribution is roughly equivalent to attempting to turkey slap that uragaan to death. 20s of paralysis doesn't make up for not doing any damage. 20s of para could cut a tail, or KO a monster, and maybe even both! I'm just saying if everyone else has endgame wepons and u give them a chance for damage that will eventually add up to more then you doing that damage. Now I rest my case...

| cut damage is the only damage that counts, element damage, impact damage, shot damage and typeless damage will not cut a tail. | |

elemental damage won't contibute to cutting damage that will get the tail off, however, a weapon with high elemental damage may cause more overall staggers. In that sense, it matters. a "good" stagger will keep the tail lined up for an extra swing, a "bad" stagger will put you out of position. real example: ravager blade 720 green vs rathalos firesword 672 green, 410 fire. you'd think, ravager has more raw, so it will cut tail faster... however against (low rank offline) barioth, I found the firesword's extra staggers make a difference and the tail came off faster. Of course, that's an extreme case.

Well the more extreme case is me using the Sharq Attaq. 230 Raw, 450 Water. While it's true that I don't need Agnaktor Tails -now-, it ought to be good for practice and the rewards.

| compared to other end games weapons, the gap between AuL and Crit Eye +3 is especially large on sabertooth.
On Sabertooth: AuL gives a 12.5% boost to raw, vs. 6.6% for crit eye +3 On Gleam: AuL gives a 11.1% boost to raw, vs. 7.5% for crit eye +3
TiroDVD, in the case of Ravager vs Firesword, I'm only giving up 8% raw to get 13% more damage (assuming that since barioth is moving around so much I have to snipe) For sharq attack vs agnaktor, let's review your options:
High Stab Combos to the agnaktor tail, red-hot: Sharq: Total: 51 damage (4 times to stagger) Spiral lance+ ~18% more raw Total: 46 damage (4 times to stagger) Tusk Lance+ ~29% more raw Total: 55 damage (3 times to stagger) babel spear ~35% more raw Total: 43 damage (4 times to stagger)
whoops. while most of the body aggy has higher water weakness, on tail his ice weakness is actually stronger. This makes the tusk lance+ the stagger king.
Now, once you're done with the tail, you can move to all those spots like the chest, where sharq beats tusk+. it's worth taking the substantial hit in tailcutting time to kill aggy faster overall with sharq, but tusk lance+ will cut tail on it faster.

You can have 99% (Not really) And still manage to use a whole sns combo with no affinity strikes at all.... XD
I once used Narde with CE+3 and managed to do 2 combos with no affinity at all.... It was ridiculous. wow, thats some horrible luck...i never seem to hav any problems with affinity...even the negative ones :/

| Merged into the hotline.
Ontopic: First of all, repelling ceadeus is fine. If you redo the quest after repelling it, it will keep the damage you have done, allowing you to kill by repeating the quest.
For ceadeus, using a lance is great (lance charge is good for water travelling). LS is a good alternative. In both cases, lagi weapons will suffice, though the upgraded rusted lance will probably be the best.
Edit: Welcome to the forum!

| On Ceadeus, do not reset. just keep fighting till it dies, over multiple quests. The first mission is repel only.
it keeps the damage.
That said, you may need to change weapons. the best at low rank would be the undertaker lance(rust weapon), even if you don't lance normally. If you can't get your hands on a dragon weapon, thunder is your next best bet.

| I usually just take a pickaxe, never had a problem getting bugs before. So few high rank armors and weapons even use the bugs, but the ore spots can hold charms/shards that might turn out useful. You can take a bug net if you want, but I don't think it matters. | |

Ah but bugs are essential to me, godbugs it's for eventually life powders, flash bugs for flash bombs, thunder bugs for shock trap, etc. And pickaxes are a must, for that precious ore and charms.

And pickaxes are a must, for that precious ore and charms. I laugh at those that haven't completed offline for the fully upgraded farm. But I suppose if you don't have that, then you could take a bug net too. As for thunder bugs, I just buy stacks of them on Jhen days online. Otherwise it's offline free hunt to get trade items for the Argosy. I don't think the bugs you'd get from the odd secret area spot would make much difference compared to those.
