No difference between ☆9 and 9*, however, there is a large difference between ☆9, a 9 star mission, and being Hunter Rank 9.

☆9 and 9*? Nothing, ☆9 just looks fancier.
I just looked it up and there would be no real difference between HR9 and ☆9, either. Derp moment on my part, there. I assumed that HR1 would unlock ☆1, ☆2 and ☆3 like in past games and that HR8 would unlock ☆10, but one quest rank is unlocked at each HR in Tri G instead. My bad.
Nonetheless, HR 8/☆8 is max.

But I wasn't even talking about Hunter Ranks. I was just saying that there has to be more than 8 quest levels if there's been videos of 9 star Azure Los since Sunday.
Or does quest level mean Hunter Rank? In which case, I still apologize.

Online, quest level=HR, which maxes out at 8. Offline, it goes up to ☆9, which is where the Azure Los was fought.

As for why the heck I would think that, surprise, surprise: I'm GUESSING. Do you really feel the need to argue against my meaningless prediction? I can make guesses based on his body shape and position if I want, and I don't think that my guess deserved such a rude response.

to be honest, the new monster look epic but they feel very different from the rest of the cast. let me explain: we're used to "monsters" resembling wildlife somehow, this two new monsters look like they got straight out of metroid, they have too much of an "alien" feel to them.
mind you, i'd love to fight them and hope it will be coming here soon i just don't like the direction the art style is taking.
*ps: on the "looking too much like aliens" thing: all other monsters as said sort of resemble wildlife, but whatabout a bright blue guy with green explosive sticky goo? or a big "dragon x lochness monster" thing with round bright lava weakspots interconnected with small red bright stripes all the while erupting meteors?

It gets better @Bracchidios' armor set looking like Sylux from Metroid Prime: Hunters.
Still curious on the Guran-Miraosu armor set, hopefully it'll have the lines like Guran in rage mode.

Edit by admin: apologies but links to videos and pics are fine but other forums we try to stay away from. Thanks. Also the wikia has both listed now.

Bracchidios doesn't look too far out, but that big thing does..
And I don't get the wild-life thing.... *looks at fire breathing flying dragons* hmmm... *water spouting water lizard with fins* hmmmm..... *He/she cave dweller with two mouths with thermal vision* uh..... Eh, whatever. Bracchidios doesn't stand out that much at all.

Actually I think R luddy resembles a frilled lizard but yeah a lot of monsters are not wildlife related

well, wyverns follow a "dragon" theme that sort of defines the wildlife of monster hunter... as for gigginox i agree it's the one that stands out the most (some kind of leech?) but royal ludroth fits nicely instaed. i mean, ludroths are basically crocodiles (rossed with some lizard-otter thing) and royal ludroth well... giant crocodile.
as for all the tri cast: lagia is a sort of a huge snake-crocodile-eel barioth is some kind of sabertooth tiger with wings and snowballs deviljho is a dinosaur, just that, gaan is a rock themed dinosaur variation and barroth a mud themed one (inspired from a bulldozer). peco is a bird, jaggi (and baggi) is a raptor (this two are simple) gobul is an evil blowfish ceadeus is a whale and jehn is again some kind of crocodile
i don't know 3rd monsters wel enough, but what i remember is bears, wolves, bisons with large tails...
what i mean is that old games set up a "style" of monsters that look like something that would reasonably have been possible to exist on our planet, dragons don't exist sure but they look reasonably close to flying reptiles, except with fire (flying dinosaurs existed after all). i just feel this new monsters don't really fit the game's style.
not complaining, just a thought on stylistic choiches.

So a monster with a strange beak, that can flash, is basically made of rubber and is poisonous, a UNICORN with summons LIGHTING(not emits, SUMMONS) and a white shadow, a Goku clone and the entirety of Yama Tsukami is fine and totally realistic, but a blue dragon that only licks his arms with goo is not?
Also please, Guran looks like a bigger Fatalis with more design on his scales. Nothing else. Monster Hunter is the only "monster hunting" game where everything fits. See stuff like God Eater, you see those kinds of monsters in every RPG and they don't fit. You're complaining about an ancient dragon. You know, things that aren't supposed to be explained. And yet, it still fits perfectly. This is why MH is great. You'll never find something that doesn't.

You're mentioning monsters of the first and second generation that have all been dropped and for good reason. Those are the prime examples of bad and forced design before Generation III.
I feel Capcom has set a higher standard for their designs in Generation III and was doing very well until they designed Bracchidios. His arms are fine after you get used to it but the thing on his head is just lazy design. It looks so out of place. Oh and the colouring too, what the hell.
"Oh, we want to make him do headbutts too... But his head doesn't look sturdy enough. LOL just stick another one of those things on his head!"
I agree with quidam. Haven't gotten a good luck at the new superbaddy but Bracchidios looks too alien.

So I've been hearing that the Narga roar at the end of that one commercial is actually from a new subspecies. It is called Nargacuga Rare, and it's title is Moon Swift Dragon. May just be a rumor, but it would make sense. If were gonna fight gold Ian and silver Los there, we may have other monsters to fight there.
