Never played or heard of the game, but looks kinda interesting or maybe maybe not, but I have a shy video processor so I won't be steppin up t he plate unfortunately, too busy with cave story, minecraft (when I have the patience to play it with that lag), skyrim, and practicing for the Kirby haddaway challenge. Sorry bro

For whomever it may concern, I made a Male Fighter ( one of two new classes in the game) and a Thief ( the other new class) and i must say that i am loving their playstyles so far. It's fast paced, has nice combos and alot of variety. If anybody does join my main is my fighter (who i advanced into a Striker) and his name is TokiZen.

To be totally honest.

I really wouldn't play that game, just because Nexon owns it.

You know mabinogi? That MMO they run that lets every monsters and its monster unles 2-hit you? Yeah. A few months ago, a LARGE amount of accounts were made inaccessible to their owners, and it took half-past forever to get it over with. (Fun fact: I was one of them) Look. I love that game. I feel really bad for the guys Nexon has run it over in the US, but I harbor a massive distaste for the company that runs it.

Sorry if my opinion isn't welcome.

All opinions are welcome, not necessarily agreed with but welcomed. By the way, the people that run and work on DFO are different then the people on mabinogi, nexon just owns the rights to the games. Not really disagreeing with you, just a little fun fact that i thought of.

Quick update, I advanced my thief into a rogue just a bit ago and my striker is level 28 now. Also, I may have to change this thread to "onion talks to himself about a game"

I've been looking for a MMO I could enjoy. I've heard of DFO but hadn't really Googled it or anything, but... the characters (or classes) seem to be just like in every other MMO.

I'm sick of these games where the fighting archetypes are so defined that it's easy to spot who's the berserk, who's the tanker, who's the nuker and so on. Also it seems to be tha kind of game where there are perfect builds for every character and you MUST follow them, no room for innovation and exploration.

Am I 100% wrong? Because I still have hope on this one. Could you explain to me a little on how the game works etc?

Gladly! basically there are 8 classes you start off in, and each of those starting classes can be advanced into a subclass at level 18. each starting class has 2-4 subclasses. Each class and subclass has a distinct skill set and playstyle.

you can also awaken these subclasses at level 48 to get new high powered skills called awakening skills. My favorite one has to be a gunner subclass, the Launcher's awakening, which is a giant laser beam shot from an ancient sattelite in orbit.

The actual gameplay is like a fighting game mixed with a skill tree and retro arcade graphics. All in all, it is pretty cool. To play the game basically what you do is buy new skills every 5 levels or so with skill points and upgrade them to whatever build you want to make a combo of yours better. There are as many combos as you can think of and alot more builds.

I think there is a flash based demo on the site if you want to try it out without downloading it, or you can check out some videos on youtube if you want to see what it looks like. I have to go to school now so good luck, and i hope i helped.

Certainly looks interesting, but I still fear that, though there are lots of possible builds, there might be a "perfect" one that everyone should follow. Like, you know, you go on the forums and there will be a guide for each class with the right skills and the right stats to raise etc.

I couldn't play the demo for some odd reason... some script-related issue. But indeed, the fighting-game like style appeals to me. I'll look forward to it to test it out.

There definitely is not one "perfect" build. Basically what you do when you are making your build is upgrade the skills that you use in your combos, my strategy is to put just enough into the skills that facilitate comboing like a launcher (attack that throws your enemy into the air) and put the rest into the heavy hitting parts of the combo that actually do the damage. It is working very nicely for me so far.
