| Wish it had a long story similar to 4U.
However there's plenty to do in Generations, as well as nice nostalgia by using old MH characters and towns to visit.
No G-Rank but I'm fine with that as Deviants in HR are pretty much G-Rank damage. Also I disliked having a lot of OP skills available to a Hunter, makes the game to easy if everyone had 4-6 strong skills.
The new fighting styles are refreshing and cater to the player who prefers it. All styles are useable so just take a pick.
All in all MHGen is a very solid game.

| Overall, I'm really enjoying the game.
I'm just a little bit disappointed that the High Rank armor look the same as Low Rank... I prefer the redesigned armors from G Rank in other games and since this game does not have G Rank, I was hoping that High Rank would get the redesigns...

| What in the hell were those credits.
I'm really liking Adept style, and a lot of the weapon changes. I feel like Generations may be the new Tri for me, in terms of sucking my life away at least...
Guess I'll be heading online now that the majority of the village is done, high rank awaits.
^Also I'm pretty disappointed to hear that the armours don't get a redesign, I was really looking forward to that :/

| im hacking away in it, i love the game so far. not done with it though, and surprised to hear there is no G-Rank lol oh well, i think High Rank is high enough, doing the same thing over and over just in higher difficulties was kinda wierd but im liking it, so far i feel it's much more how MH games should always be, more fair, more fun, got variety | |

| I've been slowly going through the low ranks and I have to say I am somewhat disapointed. I mean compared to 4u I was done with low rank in about a week but now I can't be arsed to go through all the repeatable gathering quests. I've been picking up speed now that I got some elemental dbs and got a bit excited about it but still I am kind of meh about the whole thing. Nyanta mode is ok once I found a nice strong prowler to use and I've been enjoying adept dbs with that wolfs maw art. All in all I don't like the presentation so much. As I said somewhat disapointed. Deffinately rates lower than every other mh I've played (except 3u) | |

| ^ Most of the "repeat" quest are optional village requests. The main thing about them is that offline they unlock some village specific items or little bonuses like: - Spoiler:
Instead of having chamberlin as a house cat doing all the butlering, you can choose to have a Guildie Girl instead.
Little nice additions but wholly unnecessary. - Spoiler:
Chilled, like an Arzuros eating honey!

| Haven't been around to playing as much lately since I work a full time job, but I did notice that...Monster Hunter somehow feels...easier now? Maybe it's just cause I'm more experienced now than I was when I first started playing Tri or 4U. Or maybe it's just because Adept LS is OP. | |

| combination of both really, you've played the series before, so you have some experience, some know how, which helps in timing for the adept style, and adept basically like a free evasion +3 or 4 if you time it right and allows you a nice counter atk so you can not only be more defensive, but keep being offensive as well. Plus it helps that since adept is basicall a super evasion skill, it frees up armor skills so you can get other things if you were an evasion junkie like me, helps to get any armor combo you want lol | |

| Agree, Gen feels alot easier than 4u.. Which I havent completed on all G rank..
and hell no... NO G Rank in GEN.. thats a bit of a bummer..
there are good and bad to the game for me, I don't like the changes they made to my DS attack combo (eg, no demon dance for aerial classes).
the changes to CB not very radical to me, still getting by nicely and still as OPed as ever..
also, last and not least, I hate a change they made when you are going to sell ITEMS from your box... previous titles, it will show you the number of items you have so its pretty good for me to know what I have in access and just sell them off on the spot.. In GEN, it only shows the cost of sales for the item.. Its not very ground breaking, but it annoys me anyhow.

| If you want different armor looks than the HR. It's the R-Series armors, meant for mixing. | |

| ive seen that the R and EX series of armors have different skills than the regular versions, so not ideal for looks if it trades out the skills you wanted lol
that bugs me of mh, it really does >,> most of the coolest looking armors have really shite skill combos and most of the ugliest looking armor has some of the best skills x.x MH needs to add a transmog system, seriously, that would blow this game away, wear whatever fugly crap there is for the best skills, but transmog it so it looks like something you'd actually wear.

I half want that, and half don't. Would be great to look cool 24/7 but it also kills the Monster Hunter vibe of "wearing your slain enemies." Also some part of me finds joy in making fashionable and function-able sets. Many a times in 4U I opted to avoid a single Blos armor so it wouldn't clash with my Crit Draw sets.

| .. Most, if not all, the armors I use are mixed armors. With talismans you can pretty much mix and match what you want and gem in the extra if needed.
Some armors are made to be mixed and matched. The Jaggi Buldrome armor which gives you Attack up Large for instance. Or the low rank Mixed Sharpness set.
Most often the head and waist are expendable to get other skills aside from the rest of the armor pieces.
I would like MH to have a system like that found in Xenoblade X though. They have "fashion gear" that can be worn over the regular armor so you can maintain the outfit you want to see without loosing the skills you want.

The armor should always reflect the skills/resists of the beast they came from. It is how its justified that you are able to do the same. The moment you can use other stuff as the "Fashion Gear", you will see people in the full "Bath Set" you get from Yukomo, but with the skills of the Glavenus. It would really kill the game for me... If you want to wear a bath-robe, don't complain due to low defense.

| I actually do like the S armor over a lot of the X armor designs...
What's really frustrating for me is the over-pandering to nostalgia in this game. Do people really want garbage like Bulldrome or Khezu? Over quality monsters yet again left out such as Barioth and Gigginox? I'm glad they have plenty of monsters even with taking out the subspecies, but it still feels a bit lacking.
Especially since a lot of the monsters aren't very useful. The game shoves Glavenus and the deviant Glavenus in your face far too much. I don't want to use your gear, stop it. It's a shame a lot of the deviant sets aren't very good, some of them have pretty nice armor designs.

It's a shame a lot of the deviant sets aren't very good, some of them have pretty nice armor designs. It all depends on "Japanese" interest. The popular monsters used in MHgen and all other games for that matter are solely determined by players in japan. While some "western" elements may be added into the game it all really comes down to if Japanese players like it or not. I can't remember who off the top of my head but one of the Capcom reps during e3 last year after MH4u was released here (US/Europe) stated his surprise in western players actually being able to play the game like those in Japan. (someone else might remember this and know where the story was from) But if Capcom can't even be bothered with knowing we can play the game it can't be bothered to ask which monsters we like either. My rant for the day concluded.
