What was the first Monster you've seen?

I think it's obvious what this thread is about.

just write down what was the first great monster (no minions) of the Monster Hunter series.
this could have seen them...
1. ...in the game
2. ...as you watched some friends/guys playing MH
3. ...in some videos you watched before buying
4. ...as awsome pic you saw that inspired you to play the game (not the cover of the game)

Well besides the Hiro Mashima manga , which i read waaay before i knew monster hunter was a game.... I had downloaded from the psn store a mhfu demo featuring Hypnocatrice.... Buuuut that just made me hate the game xD Imagine an unexpirienced noob going against a 7star monster xD
What got me started on monster hunter was a dude who said it was a great game and i should play at least 20 hours to see how great it was.... And I did... And its awesome...

p.s. that dude is now my master/instructor /yes/

The first monster I saw that inspired me to play Monster Hunter was, funnily enough, the Monster Hunting Missions from MGS: Peace Walker. More specifically it was the Tigrex mission that really lured me in. The sounds weren't quite the same as in the actual MH games but its movements and patterns were almost the same as in the actual MH series - which was expected as the Peace Walker Monster Hunter missions were the result of a collaberation between Capcom and Kojima.

Then, I got more interested, I started reading reviews and looking at pics (the graphics really shocked me; IMO the best on the PSP, closely followed by MGS: PW). After this I started watching vids, and the first one I actually saw was from Animedude (I recommend this channel for funny and entertaining MHFU vids) and his mate when they fought their first Tigrex of Freedom Unite (not the first MHP2G one).

Some more vids later and I went out and got MHFU, loved it ever since and probably forever more. /yes/ Sorry about the long post but I aint into 1 word answers to a pure 'discussion' topic .

The first monster i saw was the cover of MH, so rathalos...

other than that, It'd be the first higher monster you fight in MH, which i think was a velocidrome. Possibly rathalos though, as i think the gathering quest where you randomly run into the main monster of the area is a recurring theme in MH games.

First monster I ever saw was Qurupeco when videos of Tri were first announced. I thought the concepts of the monsters were so original and well designed, so I knew I had to buy the game, and its also the reason I have portable third and Freedom Unite today. Thank you, you big quirky bird wyvvern. ^^

Not very far at all. Ok first of all you have to listen to all of Chico's audio briefings (the little boy) so that the exlamation mark disappears and they're not registered as unread any more. Then do the extra-ops mission 29; blow up the container and collect its contents but dont go into the checkpoint. Instead make your way back to the beach (one of the first zones in the area) and you'll get a radio message saying there's a weird creature at the dock. Walk over to the rowboat at the beach dock and you'll meet trenya in a cutscene.

Once you've ended the mission, the monster hunter missions will be unlocked at the bottom of your extra-ops mission list. Rathalos is only unlocked at first, but keep clearing the missions and you'll unlock Tigrex and some cyborg-styled monster called Gear-Rex.

Diablos was the first monster I've seen from a Monster Hunter game. Was watching a friend play it on the PSP. He was gunning it and I thought it was an amazing game with a great idea.

Tigrex in sinking feeling I thought I had to kill it. Iwas all: tigrex I'm going to rock you....like a hurricane (cue music)then I died

My first monster was the Rathalos, after seeing in a CG cutscene for Freedom 1. My friend introduced me to the PSP entries, and I've been hooked on the franchise ever since. <3
