| What is the best type of ammo for ala, other than CLUST! And what gun do you use with it? I have heard that pierce a moo isn't very good, but I'm not sure
Also one thing, I'm talking about an ammo other than status ammo, and as I said above not CLUST!

| I believe he is weak to Ice when he isn't flying so... Ice S. One of the Lagiacrus barrels had Rapid Fire for Ice S, I think. | |

| Pierce, that and wyvernfire (ask quidam to help you if you go with the wyvernfire option) but pierce is possibly the best besides clust | |

| Ice is best when he's on the ground....but it's not that good. And most ice guns aren't the best when looking at damage/ammo. Dragon is fine when he's in the air, but fire also works. Pierce is...pretty bad. You don't want clust, but it's the way, if you wanna farm much. For the rest, stat gunning is sorta fickle, his para resist goes pretty high, and SB'ing is outta fashion (doing it once or twice is still not a bad idea).
I say: Dun Dun Duun! | |

who the hell told you pierce was good on ala o.o It's horrible D:. @Alex: If you want another ammo besides clusting, try going elemental. Ice shots and water shots are pretty nice. A Chaos Wing mix is a good weapon for it. Ask Lulu for more details. He the elemental mastah!. Wyv fire is great too, but it's not very easy to use for first timers. Also the flying mode and ground mode, is innacurate. Blue Ala Mode and Red Ala Mode is more accurate. When Ala is blue it's weak to dragon, when Ala is red it's weak to ice. Water does consistently well on both modes.

water... kinda. It's 10% in ground mode and 5% in flying mode. At any rate gunwise I'd recommend rathling+/T-rex/blizz cannon

But why wouldn't pierce be that good? Ala shot hitzones are not that good across the board. Neither are his elemental hitzones. Dont expect great damage using either elemental or pierce. That is primarily why clust, status, or wyfi gets mentioned alot because they bypass the issues other gunners have with him.

| you are forgetting the best shot normal level 1!!! you can use stones for more damage and if you want the tail slicing shot is better than a sword | |

| Yup, pretty much already said here by others, Alatreon is the only monster where Pierce is not viable due to low hitzone values (magnified by a lack of a true weak spot, unlike that of jho and its belly).
I have tried RF ice before for fun (used Rath+ / Thundacrus Rex / Blizzard) and broken wings with it. Quest times are about the same as those all-melee / non-clust runs.
But of course, if you would want more efficient and speedier runs, no way to go but clust.

Normal would suffer from all of the drawbacks of pierce, and does two thirds less damage.

| @OP: What's wrong with Clust? Clust is fun, and it busts ass. My Clust/Crag set, all by myself, I can break wings and sometimes one of the horns too.
Im with the others Clust is win, Elem Gunning has always seemed underpowered to me.

| Kinda necro there... I'm pretty sure you won't get your answer anytime soon, but i'm guessing it has to do with the extremely high amount of clusting cities for alatreon (when that was cool)?
