| With the recent announcement of Monster Hunter Ultimate we all know what will be happening soon. Here is what Sven from Capcom USA had to say:
"At some point in time (I'm not saying when... we'll give everyone a heads up well in advance when we make that decision) we will sunset the Tri servers which are hosted by KDDI in Japan. I was adamant that we not do so until we had a proper alternative title to allow people to migrate to if they wish. It would have been bad just cut people off with no other place for them to hunt, in spite of the significant costs of operation...Sven"

| They forget the part where "migrating" costs about £200? Thought so... | |

| All WiiU online services in the west are free to include online play.
So yes you can play MHU withou having to pay extra.
But anyways, the closing of Tri's servers after the announcement of MHU shouldn't be a surprise. The main question is, will there be an overlap or not? I would doubt it but for some a transition period would be nice. Though I think I'll be too busy to go back to Tri.... Except for maybe a few offline quests for memories now and then.

| I hope they are open till may
Imagine gettion online at late april, It would be either just 30 peeps online or about a 100 people walking in the sky setting 1000000k barrel bombs per sec and fighting 20 los at the same time

| Well, the good news is that MHU will be through nintendo's servers and not the same servers as Tri. So there is a chance that they do keep Tri open a bit longer but in the end they won't keep the Tri servers open longer than they need to if they can save money and Nintendo is willing to run the servers. | |

| Understandable just a bit sad to people late to the game like myself. Just more of a reason for me to get next gen systems sooner rather than later. Personally, after MHU launches state side I hope Tri has a very large over lap before shut down. It would be nice to get some high rank gear so I can offline hunt with it. | |

| This really kind of freaks me out. If they takes away my Tri servers, how will I troll Jho? Where will I buy Bird Wyvern Fangs in Bulk? How will I trade for Spiderwebs? How will I farm for TW Talis?
Plus, what I have seen of the Wii U... Well let's just say that I'm not that compelled to shell out $300 bucks for what looks to be a glorified PSP. The WiiMote and Chuck interface is my personal favorite controller setup evar! The U looks bulky and clumsy.
They shut down the Tri servers, I'll more than likely go back to PC FPS Action. Unless there is some kind of reverse compatability with some of the Wii components.
But then again, I wonder if there will be any pirate servers created by the diehard Tri fans for the diehard Tri fans...

LOL sounds like a hell of a time. I would enjoy doing that just for the heck of it right before i ditch the game for 3U - JFizzle wrote:

| I remember what a friend told me long ago: When Capcom anounces that they are closing the servers I will get online with all the possible codes and fight a rathalos in the air just like Final Fantasy. And I will warp to you and I will put a Deviljho on the sacred land and everything will be madness.
too bad someone stole his wii :/

| Well, looks like HR really doesnt matter anymore...
Man, the suckiest thing about the servers going down are the people. The random, funny, jerky people you associate yourself with online, no more late night talking up a storm on the chatbox. those few people you enjoy there company, yet only hear from them on tri. rather heartbreaking knowing some people like that have their days numbered now.

It'll be heartbreaking for me when they do take the Tri servers down. Even after playing all this time, and having to start over x3, it still seems like there is not enough hours in a day sometimes.

| JP,
I've played several of the demo games on the WiiU and the game pad feels very nice to hold. Those on here who have played 3G would have to comment about how well the touch screen on it works for controlling MH but the WiiU pad should be even better as its a better fit in most peoples hands and has more control options as well as you having the full screen tv in front of you.
So back on topic. Tough it's inevitable and sad that the Tri servers are shutting down it would be nice if all the event quests and weapons were made available before it went away got everyone to get.

| ^ that is what I'm most curious about; the online exclusive content. I doubt there will be a re-release or update to add the quest offline. It'll be the saddest thing to never again encounter a Jhen/Jho/Ala.
I'd like to know what ( if anything ) capcom plans on doing about that, I'm sure they'll recieve a fair enough amount of emails and letters about that.

| As I keep saying.. We actually don't know if there are any Monsters added to the WiiU on/offline version or the western 3ds release yet. If there were no changes in the game at all then why would Capcom not just state that?

| It looks like it might be the best game ever. I didn't enjoy portable3rd though. Guess I'll save up for it. I wonder if there will be hacking on MH3U. I need to break things and have ???s in my box after I beat the game. - JFizzle wrote:

Maybe. If only I had more power. It would've been done. - Otoshimo wrote:

Your right. Makes me want to go on a little before the servers shutdown. But there's time for that. I'll definitely miss randomly warping to Yuki hoping to hunt something but instead we end up chatting >.>. Yuki was one of the last people on my friendlist that still logged on after I stopped playing. Everyone else I talk with on a regular basis. Kind of. I wonder what happened to some people. I'm not really about to cough up $300 for the WiiU. I said the same thing about the 3ds...
