| Well, yes, his HP count and stuff stays if you haven't killed him or repelled.
For Gems, I recommend the reset trick where you: 1. Get him close to death 2. Repel him 3. Do the quest again 4. Kill him.
and if you don't get the deep dragon gem, just repeat steps 3 and 4.
The set I use now is Ceadus/Jho mix with the Attack+7OO charm to get the stats: AUL-Sharp+1-HGE
But a simple Vangis set can get the job done quickly too.
Now if you don't have any online materials and only have offline stuff, a fast/quick method is possible too. You can mix the Lagi Chest with other Ceadus parts to get sharpness +1 and use the Lagiacrus Longsword+ to just damage him to death.
Assuming you've only done the offline parts, try full lagi armor with the lagi LS upgraded as far as offline will allow it.
If there is more information you can give like your armor set, I can tell you some more stuff :D
Okay, I just saw your spoiler, and you're in the rank 40's.
You can take some overforged lagi armor and bring up the fully upgraded lagi LS and kill ceadus fast with that.

| Another method you could use is to mine the mining spots at the volcano to try to get the rusted lance series in order undertaker. Which is pretty much the best offline lance. As for armor, a good set, like Meh said, is full lagi, which will provide you with element attack up, olympic swimmer and razor sharp. Another set you could use is Ratholos armor, which wkth the right gemming, could give you aum and crit eye +2. | |

Well the best way to mine advanced armor spheres is to go on the quest "Roll the Uroktor" as you can mine all the mining spots in the volcano and the quest gives them as rewards at times, and you should refer to Roik's lance guide to learn how to lance. Edit: Here is Roik's lance guide https://mhwiki.forumotion.net/t6617-roik-s-basic-lance-guide-how-to-poke-poke-poke

| The beard is recommend, but i don't think is ultimately needed to continue to the next fight your probably not doing enough damage to him.
the best way I know of speeding thru ceady is bombing the puck outra him at the get-go. Lance the crap outta his head/beard until it breaks. Then using a mega dash juice to charge him as he runs to the ruins. Then just ballista, nator & pokey-pojey your way to victory in pretty fast time. (keep in mind I hate lances too, yet on ceady i usually only lance him after trying every weapon type on him)
for LS', you'd do the same except I farcast after I break the beard. no since in trying to catch up to him if you'll barely get hits in.

| Spam attacks on the beard until you break it, at least in the first phase of the quest. For starters, that's its weak point, so you might wanna attack there in the second phase too. Once he reroutes into the ruins it's a pretty straightforward battle, just imagine it as a humongous Leviathan (which it pretty much is). I headed straight for the Dragonator and activated it once he was in range (the actual spears are quite a bit to your right). If the horn doesn't just snap off there and then use the ballistas and fire at the horns 'till it does. When it breaks off for god's sake CARVE IT! I forgot to do that the first time around and that is enough. Also remember to take Waterblock seeds and Dragonfell berries to get those blights off I'd reccomend the Lagriacus set for its Sharp Sword and Olympic Swimmer skills, as well as its Water resistance.
Happy hunting. | |

| 1. Stand still 2. Press one button to do an action that you can execute efficiently. 3. Repeatedly press this button. 4. Stand still. 5. Relax and breath calmly. 6. Barely move the controller stick for steady consistent aim. 7. Count to 10 and repeat. 8. When the monster stops, run to it. 9. Carve the monster. 10. Makes sure you don't turn off the game console. 11. Yawn three times. 12. Slap yourself on the face and do quest again. | |

Tail: Literately just cut the tail before you kill it, then carve/get one in the rewards ( rewards seem to be the best bet tho ) Deep Dragongem; ...HA!!! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT XD But really, best bet is to cut everything then repel it, seem to always get on when I repel it & i've heard that from quite a few other people that they get higher chances when they repel too. But couldn't hurt to try, worse thing that happens is you repel & kill him next quest

| What you do is that you go in and wail on Ceadeus until he's really close to death, then farcaster back to camp and wait out the quest and you'll get repel rewards. When you get back to the village you should then save, then go in and kill Ceadeus, and if you don't get what you want then you just reset your game and then go in and kill him again, if you don't get what you want then turn off your Wii and then go back into the game and kill it, then just rinse and repeat until you get what you want. | |

| You can't cut the Ceadus' tail, but you can break it. I reccomend lance letting it get a bit ahead of you, and lance charging it. It really doesn't take long to break. | |
