| I currently use a level 3 Alloy set, gemmed with Expert gems (for the Critical Eye advantages), and my Ludroth Splashhammer to farm Barroth parts (for the Barroth armor set, and some spare parts for later weapon manufacturing, once I get a Pale Extract!)
I also have the Royal Claw, which I tend to prefer to the slow speed of the Ludroth Splashhammer, but I know I will eventually need to crack Barry's head...
I like the Alloy set for its Speed Sharpener, but I also have a full Jaggi set.
I am also willing to farm Qurupeco or Royal Ludroth.

| I like Qurupeco for its evade +2, Barroth can get kind of spastic when he is enraged, but if what you are doing works then just keep doing it. I mean I would give you lots of suggestions if you were stuck on barroth and having toruble killing him but you aren't. Maybe use the great jaggi head mask to get more rewards? Or Guild armor. | |

| Use whichever set's got more defense. When eating, use Felyne Specialist instead of Slugger, I think it's easier to KO like that, plus Fatigue is a status too, so it means you'll get the Desert Anthills submission quicker and spend less time pissed off. I really reccomend the Splashhammer as it eventually upgrades into the Jhen Mohran's Fang Hammer series, but keeping their Water attribute and even increasing it. Yes, I know elements aren't much on a Hammer, but it helps. Peco armour is also pretty good, come to think about it. Evade +1 and Recovery Up? Heck yeah! Another armour, my personal favourite, is full Rathian. Gem it for Earplugs withour Demonic Blessing and you should be able to get an edge over Barroth and a few other roars, and with a weapon or talisman slot you can also add Speed Sharpening. | |

| I used rheno armor. It had decent defence for barroth, it negates mud and can help with the wind that he makes doing the charge, and you can gem in a c skill without a talisman. There are obviously better choices, but if you get trolled by the mud and wind too often this can definitely help. | |

| If you want to stick with the alloy, gem in the mud proof skill or bombbardier instead of crit eye( which is a laughable increase in damage on low tier melee weapons). Eat for pyro and and utilize that trapmaster.
Otherwise, peco and jaggi armorsets are great and have enough slots for something practical like speed sharpen or to boost already present skills more.
