| I need a Flame Sac tu turn my Plume Flint into a Peco Flint (for Gobul.)
I am looking to slay her a few times during Moga Woods "hunting/gathering" trips (usually I slay GJ, Qurupeco, and/or Ludy along with a combination of about a hundred Jaggi and Jaggia.)
1) I already know she turns up in her own hunt quest circa star level 4 or 5.
2) However, having a Ludroth Splashhammer and a full set of Level 3 Qurupeco armor, I feel kind of ready (maybe.)
3) I am looking for a Flame Sac to turn my Plume Flint into a Peco Flint. (This is to help turn Gobul into 2,000 pounds of sushi.)
Am I, as Michael Buffer put it, "ready to rumble," or am I dinner if I go for her during a Moga Woods gathering trip?

| If you already beat her at the quest, Im guessing you can kill her on the moga woods | |

| Peco calls rathian in sandy plains and deserted isle. Can be slain freehunted that way prior to the actual hunts being available. I'd recommend against slaying her in "moga woods" as you will just get 3 carves for all your effort and none of the quest, subquest, break, or capture rewards present in a regular mission. | |

| No, I have not even activated her quest.
I am just looking for a better weapon to defeat Gobul.

| Rathian wont show up in moga woods gathering trips until you beat her via her own hunt quest. After that there is a chance she will show up in moga-non quest hunting. If you want to upgrade your 'Peco flint now for Gobul your going to have to do like navgoose said. Your going to have to go on the 'Peco hunt quest trapping a trickster and playing with fire. Durning those quest there is a chance 'Peco will call a Rathian. When it does, kill it then kill the 'Peco. That is known as "freehunting."
Other wise I say keep trying keep practicing and sooner or later you should learn Gobul's attacks and be able to kill it. Other wise try a different weapon see if you fair better. May be try Lance it works wonders underwater which helped me when first fighting Gobul offline.
That clear up any confusion?
Edit-Lalo made a good point, going for both Rathian and 'Peco in a single hunt would be hard if you can't clear offline Gobul.

This. I've only just managed, with level 5 armor, to beat Rathians and 'Pecos in the Moga freehunt. Killing 'em both in a single hunt with a low-level weapon will be difficult. I'm currently running a Vodyanoy Hammer, and that seems to do a pretty good job with them both, but it's still time-consuming. However, my experience with hammer has been that Gobul is a piece of cake. Never had a problem with him, even with weaker hammers. Just have to fight him a few times to get used to his moveset. He's a pretty big monster, so there's plenty of surface area for superpounds/combos. The Ludroth Splashhammer is pretty good, IMO. I think that's what I used against him. The 'Peco flint might work better, but overall, he's still doable with a water hammer. Rathian's proven quite a bit tougher, though. It takes me a long time to kill one, and I've carted several times in the woods. Even if the opportunity arises, I wouldn't recommend taking on one of those until you have either better armor, or a better weapon. The Splashhammer or Flint could get the job done, but they're a little underpowered for Rathian.

| Ian or Gobul, either way, you'll have to learn a new monster's move set. I'd say take on Gobul - you'll then have access to upgrade the Plume Flint to Numbingbird, which is a lot of fun. You're not really meant to take on Ian at this point.
I'd stick with hammer if you're comfortable with it underwater. Hammer is a hit-and-run tactic weapon; charge up, move in and superpound, then get out. Stick to hitting his face; if you keep pounding Gobul's face, you'll KO Gobul, which causes him to pause and drop his lantern down right in front of his mouth, perfect opportunity to wail on it. If you still need practice with underwater fighting, well then, practice!
And of course, as mentioned in another thread, use the Frog! Fighting Gobul on land is much easier. Plus it's usually a subquest objective for most Gobul quests.
