| I had a neat idea for a weapon, Gauntlets and Greaves. Maybe bladed, but I think they would work nicely with MH4's ability to jump on Monsters and do jump attacks from ledges.
They would be similiar to DS (as far as I know) with impact and KO damage like a Hammer, but I'm guessing kicking, like backflips and roundhouses would add a more interesting way to take down monsters.
I was also thinking elemental surround attacks like Dante's Beowulf in DMC3. Like burst attacks by smashing the ground and elemental bursts like the light shot the Beowulfs do.
It be a nice "intimate" way to defeat monsters, one of the most up close and personal weapons you could use

| I like the idea, but personally I'd like the gauntlets to be like hand claws/blades for epic ness.
although, I think it'd be pretty silly for the hunter to jump on a monster with the claws just to pull out that carving knife XD

| I think in the vids you only see the guy with a ravager blade attack while on their backs, maybe DS or SnS can attack with their weapons, it's be kinda hard to hold on and attack with a huge two handed sword
I'm sure in the actual game it'll be only the carving knife, but that doesn't mean small weapons have the possibility of attacking

| What you're talking about, good sir, is a Cestus. They're battle gloves. We use boxing gloves that are similar in design but they were made with leather strips and iron plates which could be outfitted with blades and spikes. I've always considered the idea of having them in the game.
God of War 3's Nemean Cestus is a great example of a Cestus in modern media. They were quick, slower than the rest but still fast, powerful and capable of chaining combos. One of their biggest trade-offs was range. You have to get right up in the enemy's grill and fight them in hand-to-claw combat.
A Cestus in Monster Hunter would be very similar in my opinion. Large metal gauntlets that have significant raw damage, good combos but low Elemental Damage and very short range between the Hunter and the Monster. It would be a Risk versus Reward-style of play, like other weapons.

| I like the Cestus Idea, but I'm sure they all wouldn't be just heavy damage
Sort of like the Dual Blades, in 3U you have weapons like the Uragaan and Barroth ones that dont have an element but have huge damage, but then others with High Element
I figured a small, quick, blunt weapon would be like using a Hammer in Dual Blade form doing small comboed KO damage while staying incredibly mobile

| I've actually started drawing up ideas for these weapons, like Uragaan Buckler, I put on one arm a basic gauntlet (it would be the left arm since Hunters are left handed) with Uragaan spikes on the knuckles, then on the other am a small round piece thats uragaan scales and scutes on the elbow side, then uragaan chin material over the hand.
I figured since Ura weapons tend to give defense, a buckler would make a good wep for him. In the same line of thought, not every weapon in the line would be bucklers, some Cestus (the ones with spikes on the hands) maybe some called Arm Blades if the have blades along the arm. etc
I got alot of these idea from Darksiders 2, in that you get Claws, Arm Blades, Gauntlets, and Bucklers, each attack mostly the same but each has a couple unique moves, claws rapidly slash forwards, blades launch energy discs, gauntlets lunge forward and uppercut, and bucklers absorb damage and retaliate.
Although in MH you get weapons like Clubs in DB or SnS that still do cut damage, the different styles of Punching Weapons would prolly all fight the same
Also if anyone knows any other punching style weps it would help me come up with more. so far I can think of: Gauntlets (not liking it since i think some arm armor is named that) Bucklers Cestus Knuckles or Knuckle Dusters Arm Blades Fists (if a weapon fits but it seems boring)

| Katara and bagh nakh. Katara are handblades purely made for thrusting. Bagh nakh are Nepalese claw weapons, held with the pink and index fingers. The wounds they make resemble wounds tigers make. Hence the name: tiger's claw.

It be a nice "intimate" way to defeat monsters, one of the most up close and personal weapons you could use Gauntlets are in a game called "Toukiden" Which is a rip off of MH on PS Vita
