| Not sure what to think...finally getting into using a GS. This all just happened an hour ago.
Every so often, I decide to take a break from grinding in g-rank and decide to clear out some low rank missions for completion's sake. The 6* Lao Shan Lung mission was what I chose. My equipment was a mix of Akantor and Azure Rath S (just the tasset) giving me RA+2, Earplugs, and Sharpness+1; I wasn't expecting much from the armor, but I decided to take my recently made Darkness Darkblade (the Narga GS) out for the mission, expecting an easy win, since it was a g-rank weapon against a low rank monster. I did a mix of level 3 charges and random swings against both the head and belly along with the standard items that anybody would use against lao or shen gaoren...with lao going relatively quick after just a few charges. In the final area, I was expecting lao to go down in just a few charges. That didn't work. Instead, I kept releasing charged attacks and used the dragonator and ballistas, but I still only got a repel. Against a low rank lao while using a g-rank weapon! WTF.
Now my question is: Is the Darkness Darkblade absolute garbage? Did the quest break or something?

| I have the same experience yesterday as well. I farm up Narga hammer. I asked myself Hmm it will be interesting on how long it will take to take down Lao in Nekoht quest. Keep in mind I use LR diablos armor( razor sharp, High wind guard and gem in spd sharpen) with Onslaught and i took down ash Lao in the guild hall with 5 minute to spare. Well now the present, i farm up narga hammer 1052 raw with boost with 50% affinity On my first try in the village quest and, i got a repel. I may think there is a glitch where you can get a repel on the first try......and you just confirm it for me friend xD | |

Now my question is: Is the Darkness Darkblade absolute garbage? Did the quest break or something? first of all, charges are not the best way for lao. just use vertical slash and horizontal slash alternatingly, so yo will go forward with him at about the same speed and don't have to run after him all the time and then charge him in the final assault. secondly Darkness Darkblade is absolutely NO garbage. got me through G-rankt from the moment I got it. else: what kama said...

| Took a second shot at lao just now. might actually be the way his health is, as I believe he kept a reserve of health for each stage, that he just walked faster once it ran out...or something... I did try the vertical slash combined with the side slash in order to keep up with him, but that proved rather useless once he went faster; kept getting bashed by the tail's hitbox somehow...or just ended up missing. Charged attacks were easier to do damage with anyway. Ended up with 7 minutes remaining...guess I'm going to have to try the Narga GS on something else to practice using the weapon class...
Slightly off-topic: has anyone else beat Lavasioth using a GS of all things?! And I'm talking about the FIRST kill.

| lao does keep some of his live till the last area. which means you can only kill him there.
I did Lavasioth with GS the first time and didn't have too much problems doing it... did it with the first try I think. stand under him a lot, block his attacks and be carefull about that attack when he jumps. if he does that you get less damage when you're under his tail so don't stand directly under him.
if you really have problems try doing him with a sleep weapon (SnS or Bowgun would be better than GS) and sleepbomb him... he's very weak to sleep
