Yian Kut-Ku - Help

I just got this game yesterday, and i've heard that it's a pretty big step up from the Velocidrome family of monsters, so any tips on fighting it? And ideas for period weapons as well (weapons i'm actually able to use at this point in the game, so not something ridiculous like chameleos dual swords). Thanks in advance!

what weapon do you use so far?
my first time I did him was with Dualswords. but if you have big trouble doging his attacks it would maybe be good to swich to bow(gun) just for this quest.

about weapons: just take the base weapon of your prefered weapon type and upgrade it as far as possible. due to kut kus weakness to ice and water you may want to take a giadrome weapon.

but especialy in the beginning its hard to give recommentations. everyone has to find his own way into the game.

i just got the game yesterday too and i found if you use a light bow gun and crag s lvl1 and normal S lvl2 u can tear him apart

I already have the Giadrome Dual Swords, so i'll try using them. I'm no good with bowguns or bows though - I can't get the hang of aiming them. Any ideas for armour? I have Giaprey Armour at the minute.

Ok, I managed it. Using Giaprey Armour and Dual Swords - with a little help from two bombs and some sonics. Got barely any materials thoug - 1 giant beak (carved), three webbings (2 carved) and a scale I think. Still, I think i'll farm him for his armour. Thanks for the help! :D

ur doing alot better than me xD i have no good weapons or armour and the only way im getting throught the game is reallying on my hammer lance and bowgun skills from tri xD

kut-ku armor is not bad for the beginning. but you'll need ears for the helmet which can be tough to break with DS. so I recomment to take another helmet if you fail breaking the head.

after that I recomment Ceanataur armor. it's got good skills and should bring you up to high-rank

Of you guys have online would any of you common because I'm new yo this game as I got it a few weeks ago so I'm pretty early in the game rank 4offline

Eh, I don't really find breaking his head with DS that hard to be honest. I only need to get the helmet and the boots now, both of which requitre 2 ears. 1/4 achieved so far, shoudn't take long now.

i still say crag, sleep, bomb, paralyze, and then destroy with normal lvl2 is the way to go... u dont have to be that good at gunning

Ugh, any tips on using the bow efficiently? I can't do any damage with it. I'm only using the Hunter Bow 1 but it should still take less than 10 shots at charge lvl 2 (first flash) to kill an atneka, right?

That bow is rather pitiful even for low rank :/ bows tend to do less damage over time than other weapons, their main strength being coatings and maneuverability. i'd suggest sticking with another weapon until you can get another bow or bowgun that is better.

just beat kut-ku training with bowgun in 47 seconds soo yah idk if u can beat it much faster wit other weapons... accually i dont know if thats fast at all. it is for me but wut ever lol

impressive... normal players can beat it in under 10 :P outside of training, its easy to beat a normal kut-ku with higher rank gear. Do realize however that even low rank normal kut-ku have more hp than that!

I once beat a kut-ku with a single triple pound

I'm seriously thinking about getting custom firmware for that hp hack...

i wish i always knew how much hp the monster had, im not smart enough to figure out how to download that tho... and im just using arena as an example of how much bowgun shreds kut-ku xD UPDATE jut-ku training moved up to 32 seconds

It involves hacking your psp... very complicated stuff. only one way to do it, but it will make your battery unusable for gameplay.

not true :P it depends on how you hack it /yes/

but still why would you use that hp thingy.... That's half the games fun

because i want to become knowlageable about damage and stuff lol

I wouldn't ever want to play with that hp hack, partly because it removes some of the fun but mostly because it's not needed. I mean, what do you really get out of it? The monster wont die any faster for you knowing its hp, if anything it may make you more reckless if you know it's close to being capturable. If you need to know what attack deals the most damage, you can find that out here on the forums or other sites, or from testing on your own. Nah, I like the pressure when you're sometimes running out of time jumping up and down in your seat swearing over why the bastard wont just up and die.

Anyhow, on the topic: Nowadays I use whatever weapon I feel like for Kut-ku hunting as all of them are more or less equally good for the job, but early game (right when I had just started playing MHFU) I used lances against them. The precission of the upstab in their face is spot on and breaks their face everytime, with minimal risk of getting hit. It also deals a lot of damage so it gets the job done quick.
