http://www.twitch.tv/giantbomb/b/341162921

Here is a archive of a stream where Giant Bomb play the Wii for about 7 hours, play multiple games, and test the OS.

Basically several ports are horrible, Batman has horrible framerate problems anytime you are in combat, Epic Micky 2 runs about 15 FPS, and when you use your paint power the frames drop even more, to about 5fps, which makes the game basically unplayable.
Several other games like ME3, NG3, BO2 all have problems as well. All the games they played have bad load times.

The WiiU operating system is a piece of shit, everything takes forever to load, the store, apps, friend requests, nothing about it is smooth. They ran into several errors, and two system hard locks. The system accounts have DRM, if you make an account on one WiiU system, it is locked to that console, you can not move it, all your games you bought, your name, and all your data, stuck there.

The WiiU exclusive games are kinda bad, Nintendo land looks bleh, and NSMB is just as boring and bland as the last couple NSMB games for the DS/3DS

That said, come March, I MIGHT be buying one to play Monster Hunter Tri G, as it is my favorite videogame ever , and I would buy a fucking Atari Jaguar if it had a Monster Hunter game.

This if MHTG doesnt suck ass.

Oh and LET'S BE SERIOUS HERE region lock is BAD dcj , what if you want to play with an EU friend? No you can't and this is supposed to be a next gen console that should be lasting at least 5 years? Nintendo pls...

Maybe i worded it wrong , if MHTG doesn't suck i might buy a WiiU and let's admit that MHTG is what MHT should have been in the first place.

Crathen,

The first time I read your posts I think I missunderstood them and took them the wrong way but re-reading them I think I understand them a bit better.

let me see if I can explain a few things.

Starting with MH3U (3G in Japan). First, regardless of what Capcom should or should not have done with Tri MH3U has recieved a lot of praise so far for both the 3DS and what has been seen of the HD version for the WiiU (though not a lot is still fully known about it.) It's basically what the West has been asking for for a long time and has not been recieving but let me clear something up on this... Though Capcom is developing it, Nintendo not Capcom is the one's bringing it to the west, Marketing it, hosting the servers and basically allowing it to exist here by all all accounts that have been given so far... I would suggest however looking through the actual MH3U section for more Information. https://mhwiki.forumotion.net/f17-monster-hunter-3-ultimate-mh3g

Now with region locking, that has nothing to do with who you can or can not play games with only from where the games are sold and bought from for the system. I have a region locked 3DS but often play games and communicate with people from around the world on it to include many forum members. With the WiiU they took it many many steps further. It even gives you the option to communicate and interact with people from your own region or world wide and most "Online" games at this time are worldwide. They have also said at this point (even capcom US) that MH3U will likely be cross region for the online play.

Basically the region locking is "ONLY FOR SECURITY REASONS" hence why the 3DS has not been hacked and other systems have been. region locking allows for more region spacific updates and server controls, it also allows for services to be a bit more ... smoother in some cases as maintainence can be more system/region spacific.

So in no way does "Region locking" on a system restrict you from playing games onling with other players from around the world.

As far as ports... Ports on any system are usually bad and should not be the determining factor... but they should also not be an excuse either. For any system WiiU, PS3, 360.. or whatever we often see game developers porting (already developed games) prom one system to another with little regard to the capability of the new system the game is being transfered to.. sometimes they take their time and add new stuff or update the graphics or whatnot but many times... well they just put the games out and people buy them without knowing that the company didn't put the effort or time into the game they should have...

Now the fault lies partly on the developer but it also lies on the systems creator as well.. not the system.. the systems creator should take more pride in the system and not allow "half assed" games on the system in the first place.. however... here's the catch if they did that, then most system would have a very limited number of games and never sell at all..... We have seen this recently with the 3DS at launch, the PS3 at launch and the Vita since launch.. though not all games on those 3 systems have been good.. the limited numbers of games (regardless of price) really held them back from selling first and foremost.

Reviews: It's very difficult to take one review as 100%... keep in mind a review is one persons opinion and a limited first opinion at that... I would suggest looking at more than one review if reviews are all you are basing it off of and try to find ones from many sources from different types of reviewers.

While reviews are a good "reference" never take them to heart or at face value.

I always tell people the best way to really know something is to have "FIRST HAND EXPERIANCE" with it... other wise you can NEVER truely know something for yourself.. everything else is just taking someone elses word for it and their opinion.. And we all know everyone has a different veiw and understanding of things than our own so 2nd hand information while a good reference can never replace first hand experiance....

That being said... we can't go out and but every game and every system and do everything to experiance it for ourselves either... So I would suggest keeping an open mind and learning about something (as stated above) from several sources and several places to get the widest possible variety of experiances and weiws on it..

I know it's a lot to read but I hope you read it and I hope that helps in any way..

Thanks!

So in no way does "Region locking" on a system restrict you from playing games onling with other players from around the world.
Case in point Persona 4 Arena. If it were not for the region lock the game would actually be playable to most people in Europe. Arc System Works needs to get their shit sorted out and stop region locking their games or just set up offices in Europe. The former choice would be easier...

Most recent ports have been successful. If there are any issues they are usually ironed out with a patch or two. Yeah I get it developers mightn't had enough time with Wii U but some of the problems listed by people are ridiculous. Let's hope that they get fixed through patches too... As the Wii U had to be day 1 lol.

And yeah as you can see I'm with Crathen. Nintendo has been disappointing lately. Wii U seems like a good concept but unless MS and Sony are content on bringing out PS4/Nextbox in line with Wii U, it may be overshadowed once more by the other systems for third-party support, and certainly in power.

^ Not dissagreeing on some things.. problem is most of this is US related and will not be EU, AUS, or Japan related... as far as the download times and such go.. a lot of that will likely (or at least the larger amount) will already be on the system when it's released in the other regions...

um... yes?
The Wii U is more powerful than the PS3 and 360 without a doubt. What I'm saying is we don't know if Sony and MS will wait until they can get more powerful systems out at a cheaper price or if they will try and release it closer to the Wii U's release so Nintendo doesn't get a great head start. If the PS4 and nextbox are more powerful than the Wii U and prove to be more developer friendly they'll likely get more 3rd party support.

^ As we have seen so far... Power has mattered very little over all if price and support is not their.

Both companies have pretty much said though that their systems are 1-2 years out still and one of the things Nontendo is doing which Micro can do but Sony can not is pour a lot of money into advertising and marketing to get high profile games onto the systems early own. See MH3U and Bayoneta 2 for examples as well as Nintendo's other incentive programs.

But in all things time will tell. If Nintendo gets the issues with the WiiU worked out by the time of the EU/Japan launch and more so by Christmas like they did with the 3DS... Then both Sony and micro regardless will be pushing to play catch up for a while.

Side note: for those who have read IGN's and other ZombiU reviews, I suggest reading this and just considering it.

Please read if you are planning on getting a WiiU:

With the WiiU already released in the US and about to be released in the AUS and EU areas there is some things VERY important for people to know before buying one...

1: The WiiU is NOT A PLUG AND PLAY SYSTEM!!!!

The WiiU is a very good game system, and has and will have a lot of good games on it but you should know what it is you are getting before hand. Which means you should research it and READ THE MANUAL!!!!

The WiiU requiers several updates before beging play. First you will have to do a system update, which may take some time depending on your download speed. Second, each game will requier and update, 3rd... any chanles will requier and instal..

Next before you ever think about transfering your Wii data to your WiiU you want to look at hooking up an external memory device first.... this is very important as you want to make sure everything on your WiiU is working correctly. The USB ports on my WiiU were malfunctioning and this was unknown to me until I tried to hook up an external drive almost a week after I had bought my WiiU.... I ended up having to send in my WiiU for a replacement and it is Unknown until later today if they were able to transfer my Wii data to the new WiiU they sent me... on the bright note it only took 4 days for Nintendo to send me a brand new WiiU.

So it's important to make sure that everything is working corectly before you transfer Wii data and before you play any games....

2: The WiiU offers a lot of extras that I have not seen on any other system and all of them are at no extra cost. I strongly sugest exploring them but as stated they requier set up. A Nintendo ID, it's easy for the most part and you may also want to consider a Club nintendo account as well.

3: Game, many of the 3rd part games thus far have been ports.. this has come with a mix of featurea.. Some game like COD, and Skylanders have better graphics and visuals than their counterparts on other systems however some ported games may run slower due to 3rd part developers not taking advantage of the WiiU's new duel CPU's... which up until recently has been unknow to most.. The WiiU comes with a CPU (what most developers and gamers are use to) and an eCPU (which is suppose to give the WiiU an advantage over current generation systemes in speed and processing but is does not yet seem to be clear on it's full functioning or use.) Also many of the new games Such as ZombiU have been been compared to current games on the market which seem to lessen the games exspectations as well as other games such as Nintendoland and other "New Style" of games that have no current equal comparison. Giving them a "false" impression of what to exspect.

So while IMO the WiiU is a good system and with many great features and games it does take a leavel of understanding and research of what it is you are getting into before buying.

You will not be buying the system and be playing on it shortly after getting home. Once you do get everything set up though it does offer some great experiances.. Like the 3DS it offers a lot more than "just gameing" but is still highly gameing focused in all it's features.

Note though what is offered in each region is quite a bit different but all regions are able to communicate and interact with each other, meaning that EVERYONE on the forums regardless of nationality or language can actually meet up, friends each other and even Videochat...... But I highly recoment 100% to keep in mind privacy if you choose to do so.

^ Not saying any of the ports are bad in anyway.. most are actually better in the case of the ones I mentioned and the others not mentioned as in Batman actually have quite a bit more content than the other consoles... But the case with any 1st party games or system exclusives they usually take beter advantage of the systems features and use of "a new systems" specs as opposed to games made for older systems ported to a newr console...

This happened a lot when the 360 and PS3 came out, a lot of PS2 games were ported over to those systems and didn't take full advantage of the systems upon release other than improved graphics.

..... Hmmm... WiiU #2 received with a nice letter stating no saved data could be transferred. All Wii data was lost.

Upon hooking HDMI cable up to WiiU #2 it is discovered that no image appeared on the TV and the HDMI cable does not fit. After trying 3 other cables I call Nintendo. Apparently the HDMI port is faulty. WiiU #2 is now on UPS truck to Nintendo of America who has stated their apologies to me and that they will take care of this situation immediately.

We will see once WiiU #3 arrives.

That data was on the first WiiU. So it's too late for that. All I can do now is hope WiiU #3 works and I can redownload all my eshop games to it for free.

What did you use to play them on your Wii before getting the WiiU?

The WiiU nintendo official pro controller does not work with Wii games but 3rd party pro controllers work with both Wii and WiiU games.
