Converting armour?

Simple question this time.

Is there any way i can upgrade an armour in a way that i can convert it into other armour types? For example, i need Kirin S armour, but i cant kill High Rank Kirin (5 rounds no success. Math need not be done). So is there a way i can turn my Low Rank Kirin Armour that i collected, into Kirin S Armour?

I know it can be done in Tri, but im not sure if its a Tri-exclusive feature.

I don't think you can with low rank.
But I'm pretty sure you can upgrade a high rank armor to G level at lv 13.

Low rank armour cannot be upgraded into high rank armour. initially, high rank armour stops improving at lv13 as ^ has said. This can then be upgraded to G defence levels - after you defeat Ukanlos

I'm pretty sure a Black Katana Mk III, Great Hornfly Saber or Hidden Saber would do the trick.

I find SnS is the best way to go for the kirins.
