Hahaha, it's odd. Every hunter I know of other than myself has the same story: "I made my way through most/all of the offline mode, so now I want to try online."


I guess I'm a bit unusual in the fact that I started out gunning, and I also started out online. I gunned my way through every one, two, and three star quest, doing most of them solo or with random people, until I made my first truly active online friend, Semeru. We ended up getting all the way to the 6 star quests together. I remember my first HR51+ mission was World Eater. It was the first Deviljho I ever killed. After that, I figured I had defeated the best online had to offer, so I took a week long break to actually do offline quests. Long story short, I slaughtered everything offline easily. Now I'm back after a 3 month rest from the game, and I've given up gunning for the time being in order to perfect the art of long-swording and to train my skills in switch-axing.


So yeah, my story is an unusual one, I suppose. But in the end, I'm happy it happened, because thanks to all my practice and experience, I've had several people call me the greatest gunslinger they've ever met, including my friend Keith. He's been hunting monsters since the original Monster Hunter, so it really meant a lot coming from him. Although by now, my longsword skills have to have at least matched, if not exceeded, his own.

Anyway, I feel like I'm bragging, which isn't very good, seeing as how I faint at least once a day. I also feel like I'm starting to hijack hawkfriend's thread, so I'll shut up now.

Yah, i started out bowgunning as well. I just played offline first.
And yah, don't worry about telling me about yourself in my intro, it helps me know you.
I am about to finish the 1* quests, so soon I'll hopefully get to some really fun quests.

Well, if you're on the US server, I'd be glad to help you HR grind some. I need a lot of newbie materials anyway. I'm going back and making a bunch of swords and stuff, since I still mainly have bowgun parts lol. Anyway, give me a shout if you ever want to hunt. When I'm not working, I'm usually online. So far I'm the only AlDante I know of, so if you player search and find an AlDante, it'll probably be me.
