- what are some good sleep bombing guns?
i have one in mind with jhen cannon barrel, blizzard cannon frame, and rathling gun+ for reduced recoil. this gives me 4 lv2 sleep shots and 2 lv1 sleep shots. (i got this from sd's tutorial) but r there any better setups? Hi there. As Lucas said, a better "pure SB" gun would be Blizzard / Jhen / Chaos. It loads 2 / 5 for sleep lvl 1 and 2, and only requires Recoil+2 to fire recoil-less sleep shots. Also loads 2 shots of para lvl 2, 3 shots of Exhaust and 2 shots of crag lvl 3. Nothing much else though. My fave gun for general status inflicting is Light / Jhen / Chaos. Loads 2 / 2 for para shots and 2 / 3 for sleep shots (and 2 for poison lvl1 for the lulz). Requires recoil+2 to fire recoil-less all status shots. Also loads 3 shots of Exhaust and 2 shots of crag lvl 3. Nothing much else though. And... barrage earring ftw /yes/

Evasion +1/2 increases the amount of invincibility frames when dodging. When you've got evasion+2, you'll be able to roll through almost any attack. Besides rolling and diving, the lance hop also has extra invincibility. Evasion up increases the distance of evasive moves. Evasion up is nice, it helps you dodge some things and makes maneuvering around the battlefield easier. Evasion+2 is often hailed as (one of) the best skills there is, allowing you to not get hit and keep attacking far more often.

Make the +, if you have the time to go claw hunting. There's only so many monsters that need guard boost, and for those, you can gem it in. Razor sharp is a pretty good skill too, so + is the way to go.
Note: When you use the +armour's slots to gem in guard boost (not the best thing you can do with 000 slots), you'll end up with 2 slots remaining, that's 2 less than the OF armour. So if you don't care about Razor sharp, and really need 2 extra slots, go OF. That's probably never gonna be the case though. I was literally just about to ask this question o.o. I was also wondering, what does guard boost do? I guess it helps you guard (duh >.>) but how exactly?
PS On a still related note, I was Using Guard+2 AND Guard Boost against jho today, but on his rock throw attack and his foot stomp (when directly below) I did actually slide back a bit... I mean, what gives? There's a reason I got this Guard set, How dare this game make it fail on me? Okay, here's how it works:
Guard+1/2 makes attacks deal less damage and push you back less when blocking. With guard+2, most attacks will do minimal damage and not let you slide. Some heavy attacks may still do a bit (jho's rockthrow) and push you somewhat.
Guard boost enables you to block "unblockable" attacks. Ceadeus water cannon, Gigginox's wrestler move, Ala's fireball. These attacks cannot be taken fully without guard boost. Some of them can be partially blocked. For example, Agnaktors laser beam: If you block it, you'll block regularly once, but a split second later, you'll get hit again, which is what the attack does. So if you dodge and only block the part, you might not need guard boost.
Generally, guard boost is primarily good on Ala. Most other "unblockable" attacks can be dodged easily. Keeping it on other monsters doesn't do anything. Thanks guys I'll make the hr rank version

Can anyone give me a list of the best hammers to use until Devil's Crush and the Alatreon hammer who's name I've forgotten? My new character is currently up to R.Luddy offline and I'm about to forge the War Hammer+, but after that I don't know what to aim for... TL;DR is at the bottom. The easiest to get, and one of the best hammers is the Iron impact. 3 Slots, and very high raw. Not too much sharpness, and no element. Jhen mohran hammer (final luddy path), can be obtained at hr 31 (jhen+ is up right now, i believe). At that point, it's the best hammer, and it's got pretty good raw and sharpness. The Vortastrophe is annoying to make, and only viable on monsters really weak to thunder. Deadeye revolver is pretty good allround, but huracan is better on monsters with fire weakness, leaving the deadeye outclassed on all monsters. The Alluring Lotus is the only (without awaken) stat hammer, but it's a pain to get, and it's pretty darn bad. Stay away from crystal path unless you need slots (even then, get iron impact). Barroth Hammer is absolute trash. Gigas Hammer is actually quite good, it slightly outdamages the iron impact. However, it's a pain to make, right before better stuff becomes available. TL;DR version: Get the Iron Impact, Jhen Mohran hammer or the Gigas Hammer. Switch to a matching element Hammer if possible, but the gain is fairly low. Oh yeah, as usual, the ancient Hammer is fine too.

| Regarding Low rank Hammers Start with the bone or iron paths, both are about equal. Quite early, you can make the Bone Bludgeon+, which is your best choice early on. Use the pecco path on fire-weak monsters. Try and progress the online faster than offline, at least reach 3 quests asap. Then make Uragaan's hammer, the Brazenclout, and upgrade it to the Crimsonclout, which should be the best hammer on almost all monsters low rank. For funies, match elements when you get bored, and try to make some of the pre-upgraded versions of the high rank hammers i listed. The gunhammer, vortical hammer Y and the Fan hammer "echo" should perform almost as well as the Crimsonclout. | |

Could you give your exact setup, and which weapon you plan on using it with? Also, major charms if possible, having a godtali will change everything.

| Ok, so switch axes with power phials, and affinity either naturally or boosted from armor skills. In sword mode will power phial and critical hits stack to deal even more damage? Or is it the kind of thing where you can either get power phial or critical hit, but not both? | |

Phials and Affinity are different aspects of a weapon, and act independantly. Regardless of your weapons state, you'll have the same chance to crit every time.

On jhen, smoke bombs do nothing. Jhen just attacks the ship. Dunno for sure about his rocks, maybe they won't be targeted at players, but that's hardly worth the effort. For the rest, jhen doesn't actually target players at any point of the fight.

How much damage do knives do? I saw 15 somewhere, but no confirm, no nothing. How much does the hurler skill increase it. And rocks do 1 damage right?
Probably one of the last secrets tri still has for me.
