(and what does affinity on a bowgun do anyway) Generally, you want to get a set with recoil down skills and status atk up. Uragaan+ with status atk up is the most recommended set, you even get bomb boost for blowing monsters faces up after they're sleeping too. As far as bowguns go for status, I don't know about that one. Affinity for bowguns work just like they do for weapons, but only for physical hits. You can't boost element, crag/clust bomb, or status damage with affinity crits. Also, each hit of the shot has the chance for crit. This is mostly amateur with practice info, but I hope it helps.

Sword mode. Any Swax with a power Phial will do more damage in sword mode.

While this is true, high rank bowguns have higher raw, and because of this, bowguns get more bang for buck out of affinity than attack up. With Melee, attack up is more beneficial. https://mhwiki.forumotion.net/t6423p15-best-pierce-set#107363

| I'm still somewhat confused about that Cirt Eye VS Attack UP debate >_> AuX will increase the bowguns attack by 10/15/20x1,2 but since it will get devided by the classmultiplier again in the damage formula the boost stays the same ( for all weapons (10,15,20)(thanks haruno for mentioning that somewhere @.@b)) So again, why is Crit Eye better than AuX for bowguns? | |

| if the base raw is 200, 20 is 10%
if the base raw is 300, 20 is only 6.6%
Crit Eye gives 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% based on your level of it.
so, if a weapon has raw 200, AuL beats 30% affinity at raw 300, 30% affinity gonna beat AuL
That's the basic priciple, the link I posted has the math/cutoff points.

| ummm lets say you got 340 raw, aux is 24 extra attack, crit+3 is 7,5% extra attack (25,5), so crit eye wins for any gun around 330 and above. | |

What is the good use of [insert body part] Up skill (E.g.: Torso Up)? Currently, I use it to get better defense on my gathering armor (Skull Mask, Leather Vambrace + Torso + Belt, and LV6 Alloy Greaves).

Basically, torso up doubles the skill points on your chest armour. This is usefull in some skill sets, but not too much, because chests usually have low skill points, and few slots. An exception would be the Fortify jacket, but that's a specific one.

Also, it's very useful for the Helios+ chest, since it gives you 5 Handicraft and 3 Hearing, which means you can use two torso up armor pieces to get Sharpness +1 and 9 points for hearing (or, instead of this, you can use one torso up armor piece and then use the Helios+ leggings, since it gives you the same skills, but has higher armor and looks WAY better than Gaan greaves). That's just another specific one I know about.

Don't use Gigas Club. Its sharpness is just... no (Not even Sharpness +1 can help it). Use Blazing Falchion instead and buff yourself with Elemental Atk Up, AuL and/or Critical Eye +X

Gaan weapons do quite some damage, but for sns....maybe with speed sharp, but when you have to use awakening to make a weapon viable, you're doing it wrong. If you use blazing falch, just go with sharpness+1 and AUL, see if you can get speed sharp too. Ele attack up is not advisable in most situations, especially for Blademasters.

| If you want to mess around with Adrenaline +2, you could make a mixed set consisting of the Hellhunter Jacket, Alloy Greaves and Barroth+ parts. This way you'll get some attack boosts and Fortify in case you accidentally screw up and don't want to risk using Adrenaline again in the hunt. It's a pretty fun set to use.
Also, if you like to use the GS, Blos chest and torso can be used, along with helios waist and rathian legs, and with a decent Crit Draw tali, you can use whatever helm you would like to get Crit Draw, Earplugs and any Earring skill.
ALSO! You could try out an OF lagi and Helios mix (lagi helm and chest, everything else helios) if you don't mind the low defence and want Sharpness+1.
These are just some of the things I use in low rank; I'm sure there are plenty of better ones that I haven't listed.

Wait 'till HR 51. You can only get the unupgraded version before HR 51, and that isn't too good. May be viable untill hr 40, but it's got low raw before the upgrade. You need conqueror's seals for that, only obtainable from 6 double monster quests.

It means that the bowgun fires three shots with one ammo with certain ammunitions. Of course, each shot is less powerful than what it would without rapid-fire. If you're planning to use it, make sure that all 3 shots hits the monster or you'll do less damage. In some way, rapid fire is useful if you want to conserve ammo.

| Rapidfire, if possible with bonus shot, should be used for elemental gunning, it's pretty much the only way to do real damage. It's probably the best with fire S, due to that shot's lack of piercing mechanics. Do NOT use it for pierce, it'll decrease your DPS, and you won't be able to use the pierce mechanic very well.
I think it might be viable for normal S, but i cannot say for sure. Most other shots won't really benefit or suffer too much. Oh, and don't use it for clusting, people will laugh at your longshot.
Note: Rapidfire eliminates the recoil between shots during a burst. The recoil after a burst is decided ONLY by your bowgun, Recoil Down skills won't have any effect.

You can check out the guide section https://mhwiki.forumotion.net/t5553-hammer-guide This one seems to be pretty good. Main things: Infinite combo whenever the monster is disabled, use charges when it's running around. Aim for the head, but don't be too obsessed with it, especially when a monster's raging. 2 Ko's a fight is fine for most monsters. Skills you want are evade (probably the best), crit draw, and AUL/sharpness+1. You'll find out which comes in the best, that depends on your level of skill/playstyle. Regarding the keyboard. It isn't neccessary, but it's damn nice. Especially discussing tactics is a pain without it, and it's generally more fun. You can actually talk during a quest, without losing too much time or being in too much danger. Any USB keyboard should work (mine is some cheap chinese thing). Depending on where you sit and where the TV is, get a wireless one, or make sure the string is long enough
