They look nice as they combine yellow+blue or blue+blue, so its not super abyss lookalike.

I figure once i get some natural purple weapons i can have sets without abyss /nerv/

I recently got my self a tranq+4 expert +10 talisman. Get creative and make me a useful set with it.

there are other armor setups that work for both of these. I picked the best looking ones with basically the highest defense. (You can match colors pretty nicely in both these sets.)

I find quick sheathe a lot more useful than focus on some monsters.

I also use this set to awaken devastator blade's nice ice element.

Crit eye-1 does matter since it lowers your affinity. Crit draw doesn't make your attacks 100% affinity it's just +100% affinity. Pretty big difference

I see Nether sets abuse Vort xD Nether is great on many weapons but on GS it's just mediocre. G Jhen + diablos X works better. -10 aff is awful. Rock Steady on GS is must have.

Okay, I really want to keep Sharpness+1, and razor sharp on my gunlance set, but then I have artillery expert and load I can fit with a Handi+4 OOO. So far, my best handi charm is a Handi+5 O, and I can't make this set, so what do you recommend I drop from the set to still get a good gunlance set?

I already use evasion+1, razor sharp, load up, artillery expert on the lucent gunlance since it has an amazing natural purple sharpness.

You can't built one GL set which will suit all types of GL. The answer for your question depends on what type of GL you're using/thinking about using with this set.

Artillery expert and Load up is pretty much useless with Normal type of GL outside of full burst but it's not recommended since it lowers sharpness. You can use shells with it but only to extend your combos, not as main dmg inducer. With Wide type artillery expert and load up works very well but you can easily drop Load up since it adds only one shell. Artillery expert though is crucial with it. With Long GL Artillery expert is usefull because it shorten cool down time of WF so I'll go for that. Load up is useless, you can get rid of it.

I'm using most of the time Wide so i can only suggest what i use. The lack of S+1 is meh since i base on shell dmg.

I thought load up would matter at least on wide type gunlances because extending your combo with wide ammo (which are very powerful, but you only have two initially) increases your damage output. I understand why it wouldn't matter on long, and especially on normal types.

Yes, Wide is the only type of GL which can efficiently use Load Up. But your question was "what should i drop" so yeah that's my answer.

You have only 2 shells yes, but you can always reload after pretty much every combo. From my experience though, with Wide GL you should use your shots mainly in a form of charge shots, not for extending combos, simply because the amount of shells isn't very high (2 and with Load up 3). But of course there're situations which benefits from it. You should make some tests ingame. Good luck.

Edit. I made kinda cool GS set today so i thought i'll share. Merak's Asterism fits there perfectly because it has natural purple and 1 slot. You need 1 sloted GS with natural purple to make this set works.

When monster is enraged it's 50% affinity on normal slashes, critical on draw, AuL, Sharpness+1, Focus and Rock Steady for ear protection Poison comes handy sometimes. The whole set looks nice imho.

Here's a set I use for altaroth/vespoid farming, I would post it using athena's ASS but when I entered it into the ASS it said that the set was one point away from carving master, which is a lie, it gets carving master.

Flame Aura +10 talisman

This gets you Carving master, Flame Aura, and Status Attack +2. Which is pretty freaking great for bugs and since you get to use the wroggi bow you get boosted poison coatings. Also, this means flame aura talismans are not useless after all :D

Flame aura is good for farming vespoid and altaroth yes, but also for egg runs, it keeps jaggis away from you.
