| I really think all monsters received a nerf. Granted, I have only done the Moga quests thus far, but it has been quite easy, and I have primarily used leather armor and the Tropeco heavy BG. I did get Jaggi armor and use it a bit, and I just farmed Ingot armor (pellet shot FTW!), but it has all seemed pretty easy.

I think it's just a LR-Village Quest thing. Capcom probably heard the complaints about Barroth because of it being a Noobslayer in Tri. In another thread, someone told me that the player starts with 50 base DEF, which reasonably smooths out the damage that early monsters dish out (softening the early game's difficulty curve, when the DEF stat is more relavent.) I really wouldn't consider LR Barroth as a good benchmark, like it was in Tri.

| No, I'll agree with the OP - Barroth was nerfed.
I didn't really notice much change in Jaggi or Luddy behaviors. Peco announces his 3x flintstrikes instead of you having to guess between the 2x and the 3x. Otherwise, similar difficulty as Tri (although as someone stated, your starting defense is higher is MH3U). Rathian might actually be harder - her movesets have changed enough that I had difficulty during a Peco quest with her (enough that I gave up and just finished Peco).
But Barroth, I've noticed he's got a LONG recovery after a charge now. When Barroth charges, he ends his charge with a head lift and a tail swipe. After that, he's taking several seconds to recover - I'd bet it's at least twice as long as it was in Tri.
Not sure what else was nerfed. I just finished Village 3*, so I got a ways to go.

| Seems about tri difficulty to be honest. Easier than p3rd for sure but that's because your innate MOI is about on par with tri's evade+1 skill.
Overall what I'm seeing on barroth's "nerf" is rather than the weakening of the monster but rather the increase of skill of the player. You all played tri before and killed maybe tens or dozens or hundreds or even thousands of barroth so by now you're bound to know it's tells. At least when you first started tri you were like OMGWTFBBQ DA HELL I DO!?!? HE INPINCIBLE!!! OMG CRAPCOM HAX!!!!! but after years of getting used to barroth he's just gotten easier to you personally but not really easier as a monster.

While I'm not one to say Barroth was a "difficult" monster, I can definitely see where they are coming from. Most I can see is that the things speed has been really slowed down. His slower speed easily allows more hits (by speed, I mostly mean how quick he can use moves in succession) as his charge attack leaves him open a lot longer now, or at least it seems like it does, than it did in Tri. He's still easy, but I can see how it could be easier for new players XD

| I am on the Lagiacrus repel quest and I am finding it quite easy (apart from that god damn Gobul) So far I have only died about 2 times, first from when I got trapped between the Qurupeco's fire spark thingy and the great Jaggi's hip check while eating a well-done steak (epic fail) second when I had to fight the Gobul (Water combat... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu) Definitely seems easier than tri, but I didn't really play tri much so I don't know. | |

| I don't think he has been nerfed much. he does have a new tail waggle that i have never seen before. (friend mentioned it to me)
But Barroth is all about raw damage and thats it. With the 50 def bonus its not that hard anymore. I think for barroth i had a peco set so my armor was over 100, probably close to 125.
In tri i would have about 75 so the damage difference is big.
That 50 bonus is a lot bigger than people think imo. I was able to solo rathian in my hunter set and only when she was raging and tail spinning was i ever concerned. every hit could be healed with a regular potion when raging. 2-3 hits when she was normal. Fireballs don't do much either.

| The 50 defence bonus has made low rank pathetically easy overall. It's pretty much training mode for High rank and G rank rather than a actual difficulty.
As for the barroth, I find him about the same difficulity as in p3rd, although he deals less damage.
Also, I used his armour through the entirety of low rank and might just stick with it until mid high rank, as it gives attack up, defense up and guard +1.

| After fighting the High Rank version with Hammer, LS, SA, HR Yukumo Sky set, HR Jaggi set and HR Barroth set- I can say with some measure of confidence that Barroth is fine. The closest thing to a nerf that I've found is that Barroth no longer has an invisible hitbox around it's legs that clips you every time it moves. I suppose not chaining 4-5 rushes every time it rages could also be considered a nerf- but it still hits like a truck and is a monster that punishes greedy play. | |

| He's definitely easier - I remember on Tri (with Lances) it would take about 15 minutes a try with a few health pots used. Did the first village one last night (with a Gunlance) and ripped him a new one inside 10 minutes without using up all my first-aid meds.
And I haven't played MH in a year so it's not just that I'm better.

| Yes, the low rank portion of the game has been nerfed somewhat. Hitboxes are more modest and monsters generally have larger tells.
This is fantastic, the low rank was a brick wall to new players in Tri.

| Monsters in low rank seem to get tired a lot easier than their tri's counterparts and hardly rage as often. Barroth also has a distinct delay when he finishes his charge and I believe his tail swing is a lot less ridiculous now and doesn't snag you with it unless you're actually in the way of it. And even when he rages, I'm pretty sure he doesnt spam backtrack to charge anymore as much as he used to. Backtracking so fast on tri made him a pain to hammer, I can see he'd be a lot easier to hammer this time around and bf has no trouble hunting horning his scalp off. | |

| Hey Guys,
I was going to make a topic but found that there's already one here.
I hunted Barroth for the first time in 3U last night with Jaggi Armor (lv. 1 - not upgraded) and the Lud. Hammer. I logged just under 2000 hours on Tri so believe me when I say that Barroth has definitely been adjusted to be easier. The biggest difference is his recovery time after his signature charge and tail-swipe. After completing his tail swipe, his recovery is about 2-3x longer (!). The biggest direct result of this is that he can no longer charge-spam you (even when raging).
Also, his hit boxes have been changed a bit. I think his head hitbox has shrunk which means that it's a bit harder to pound and his arms are easier to target from the front. His arm armor came off for me in one super pound with that hammer (yep, only one).
He seemed to tail-spin less and when shaking it also seems that the majority of the mud goes forward (meaning, in front and to the sides of his rear legs). He also makes much more of an effort to keep mud on him so expect him to roll around more.
Also, as an aside, Gobul's lantern broke in maybe a dozen hits with my dual blades (Dual Hatchets). I'd say that Mr. Lantern got easier to break as well.
I'm not sure about what I'm hearing of monsters being different generally (behavior-wise). Up to this point, everything has been the same. Barroth has been the first major difference to the point in the game that I am (playing offline for now). This includes damage dealt by monsters. I think I'll be able to continue using my lv. 1 Jaggi armor for the forseeable future (I'm stingy with armor spheres :P ).

This is fantastic, the low rank was a brick wall to new players in Tri. I agree, having an easy low rank is much better to introduce new players, I just hope the little buggers don't get too scared when they get into the high rank quests /yes/

| My 1st MH game was MH Tri. I remember that rainy saturday afternoon. Fighting Barroth over and over and over. Later that day, somehow I managed to survive for the whole 50 minutes!! It was a victory!! On the next fight I finally cut his tail off!!!
Oh boy... What an epic feeling.

If you're talkin about LR Barroth, than for me it's 5 min kill with Brachi hammer, 10 min for Los GS which is a bit slow weapon for this fight. He got nerfed a lot. And not only that. Jade Barroth is also very easy on High rank, i killed it within 15 min with los GS and low rank los armor. The same goes for uragaan, his moves are wayyy to slow and easy to predict. On low rank it's 5-6 minutes with proper hammer. Triple that time for high rank. Even if they double speed and HP of monsters on G rank, imo it's still possible to solo it. It's difficulty level is more like HR on Tri.
