| My standpoint on the Kelbi Bow has nothing to do with slime... It's really the only bow that is easy to get all coating on with little effort and has nice overall stats. Regardless of the slime effect it's a good all around bow IMO. Yea, it may not be the best status or element weapon.. but you have those options with the coatings of a bow and it helps support what everyone else is doing. Throw in the slime for extra.. Just my thoughts. | |

| Yeah it has only 2 slots now (talking about MH4), low amount of slime and most disappoiting raw in the universe. Don't find the info about coatings. They don't nerf it, they made it completely useless and unusable. Hope "say no to kelbi bow" movement is finally happy.
The solution was much easier - they should just change lv1 charge from L3 Sperad to rapid or pierce L1. That way Lv1 charge spam strategy will be completely destroyed without sacrificing whole potential of this weapon.

Capcom takes nerfing things way too far and has no clue how to properly nerf something but keep it still viable. They did the same damn thing in Freedom Unite to the Akantor Bow. Instead of a just slight nerf they outright removed one of it's charge levels, nerfed the affinity, the raw, and the element, leaving a huge gap for viable Dragon element bows in MHFU. Akantor bow was the only one with a decent pierce shot for fighting large creatures, but that shot was only accessible with the capacity up skill that granted the hidden charge level, when they nerfed charge levels it was no longer attainable and none of the other bows were really that great.

I agree, I suppose. In Tri, there was a hammer called Bone Bludgeon... That hammer didn't upgrade, and it wasn't any good.

The only good thing about that hammer was the name. I just love saying it over and over. Sometimes I add the Barbarian Blade in there and start saying things like this: "Blarblarian Blone Bludgeon blade plus." It's just so fun to say. EDIT - And I must not forget the extra "Bloh" at the end of all that too.

- I really don't mind when people use the Kelbi Bow. It only bothers me when it's the only weapon someone ever uses. I makes me doubt that they have any other skills at the game. My other problem with it is that it misleads people who want to get into bows. As a new person seeing someone use a kelbi bow, they'll think that the way to use a bow is spamming lvl 1 shots all the time. I've seen this way too many times, and it's pretty disappointing.
actually even with kelbi bow it's better to charge your bow. as not only the raw dmg gets increased, but also the slime element/status (same goes for every other status). the only way spamming lvl1 shots with kelbi bow is with 4 people standing around a monster trying to flinch it out of every move. also if you want to break a certain part, the lvl3 rapid is way better than lvl1 spread, as long as you can aim at least most of your shots remotely precice Except a lot of randoms are stubborn and refuse to listen to anything anyone says. I gave up giving advice during Tri

I agree, I suppose. In MH4 is has 168 atk and 220 slime, 2 slots on a final form. They probably preserve coatings from 3U which limits its usefulness to status bowing (Status atk+2, bombardier, Awaken - must have skills). The most dissappointing thing is actually reduced amount of slots which limits number of obtainable skills on a certain set. It's no surprise pretty much nobody plays it right now...

In Tri, there was a hammer called Bone Bludgeon... That hammer didn't upgrade, and it wasn't any good. I actually used that hammer in combination with the Bnahabra Armour for longer sharpness. It worked extremely well while I was getting materials to make other hammers. Barroth went down so easy.

Lot's of people play 3U if that's what you are talking about about.. just mostly on the 3DS. Like most MH games they have always been more popular on handhelds in the long run and in groups where you can find them.

| Ahh...
Well. that's not to uncommon to think though. What is usually popular in one game is not what is popular in the next and is often changed. tri to 3u had different must have sets and weapons sane as Unite and so on.. MH4 you also have to remember did add 2 more weapon classes that a lot of people are going to try out and a new mechanic with the jumping.. And a lot of people are doing the lance Jumping.
But that's all for a different section not this one.
Anyways in 3U if you look at it all the weapon sets (almost) have event and/or rusted weapons except the bow.. IMO the Kelbi just fills in that gap and gives you all the missing special bows in one.

| If someone abuses the kelbi bow it doesn't bother me. Just as long as we finish the mission. I do love playing with players like Antari that actually use the bow a different way or use it as an all around status bow. I remember farming gold Ian not to long ago and giving a kelbi bow user some advice on a status set they can use and how to properly status the monsters in a way that will benefit the group. Ofc other people were disagreeing but the person using it thought it was good advice and started implenenting it in our hunts. | |

Yep. I find way to many people who spam the lvl 1 shot over and over, and don't bother using any of the status coatings. To make matters worse, they usually have the Gigginox X armor and they're not using any status coatings... D: It's sad. I myself use the kelbi bow with my Lagiacrus X armor, where I have Tenderizer, Focus and Evasion (plus the awaken and bombardier skills which are necessary). With that set I can sleep and para a monster once, as well as hit weak spots over and over with my level 3 charge shots. If the monster is large enough, I'll spam level 2 charge shots (as their damage output with the skill Focus is higher) which is also fairly effective. But one of the most effective ways to use the kelbi bow is to use your status' coatings. That way your team can do more damage, as well as you. And you aren't using up your slime right off (Your slime can do lots of damage fast, and ends up slowing down considerably) Since the kelbi bow has slime, it can do an incredible amount of damage within the first few minutes of fighting the monster. Since Slime works the same way as a status (You have a chance of inflicting slime, and once enough gets inflicted, it goes boom. Next time you try to inflict slime, the monster requires more slime inflicted for it to go boom. Para, Sleep and Poison work the same way, except they don't go boom) So for those people who just spam level 1 charge shots, sure it's effective for the first few minutes, but it gets much weaker the longer the quest (Or more hit points the monster has). Paralyzing and Sleeping allow you to save your slime, while still doing very good damage. Assuming you brought bombs, and assuming you have buddies with you.
