PostSSB WiiU/3DS update

Well.. the new Super Smash Brothers game.. they decided to remove story mode and cutscenes from the game.

What had happened was someone stole/acquiered copies of early video of several of the games cutscenes and uploaded them to youtube and other internet sites.

The games creator, Masahiro Sakurai, said this in response “Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet. You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cut scenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them.”

it seems they decided to remove the mode more because they wanted it to be a reward and felt "the reward" they were giving to people was taken away from them after working so hard on it..

It seems .. odd however and may not be what it appears as I find it difficult to believe that something that has been such a big [art of the series would just be removed.

On the same note however it would allow the series and games to focus more strictly on the fighting elements and become more of a straight fighting game then it has been in previous incarnation.....

What do you all think? would they really remove story mode and cutscenes and if they do would you rather see SSB as a full blown hard core fighting series?

The preorders for Shulk and the other two store exclusive are already available and will likely be limited in Numbers..

http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/25589/article/pre-orders-for-lucario-amiibo-sold-out-on-toys-r-us/

Especially now that Marth, Villager and Trainer are now considered to be disscontinued. I don't think that shipping strikes affect this especially if there was none to ship in the first place.

^ That's why I said "considered" to be. Nintendo already said they were only going to produce the main ones after a certain run (due to shelf space).. How long that would be is anyones guess but we've seen nintendo "underproduce" and not continue making products many times which seems to get them a lot of plublicity and more "demand" for their products. Xenoblade comes to mind as well as.. well just about everything in their US club nintnedo.

Weather it's deliberate or not it seems to work for them. Right now the damand for amiibos is huge, their preorders are selling out and look at the gamecube adapter 100-200 bucks online.

So regardless of them being discontinued or not it's the perception that's been created and this drives up the demand for not just the ones out but coming out.

Overall though it's a wait and see thing. Best suggestion though if you do know there's a specific figure you want you should probably pre-order it. Metaknight for example.

I don't have smash bros yet, not sure when i can afford it actually, but I bought the Samus Amiibo because it also makes for a nice little display figurine.

^ Several of them I think are well done. even if they added the thicker stands (you can always mod those). If none other here are the ones I have and want for display if not game use.

Link, Fox, Samus, Marth, Ike, Zelda, Cpt. Falcon, Pit, Toon link, Shulk, Sheik, Megaman, Sonic and Meta Knight.

Notice no actual mario related ones.. If I wanted that I could spend a dollar for those little key ring figures they have everywhere..

^ TRU started selling the Zeldas early but said they couldn't sell the others until the 19th. Best buy has them too but wont sell any of the wave 2 figures... odd though as everthing has the release date for all of them as the 14th..

The amiibo website never says anything about the 14th, so I have no idea where people are getting that date

^ Wikipedia has it listed as the 14th, so does many retailer websites.

But of course you should only go off the official site and likely due to shipping issues as had been stated before.. Nintendo would not post an official date (other than 12/2014) until they know for sure they have shipped the figures.

To my knowledge only best buys actually acknowledged that date. everyone else is doing a "when ever you feel like it" release date, which only shows how poorly this whole thing is being handled. If I miss my gamestop preorder for shulk and ike because not even gamestop knows when the hell theyre getting them im going to be incredibly pissedsad. I picked Little Mac up last saturday at target and hes pretty much now sold out, just waiting for pitty pat and then I'm done for this wave.

^ both gamestop and TRU originally had the date listed as the 14th.. (i checked on pre-orders from both places) TRU even sent out an email stating the date had been moved from the 14th to the 19th for the pit ficures release.

And.. my friend who runs one of the local GS' had the 14th originally in the computer.. Now GS doesn't have a release date at all.

Remember though the 14th was most likely an estemated date, just like they have with most products that are not 100% confirmed with a release date.

Out of curiosity though as everywhere I've seen as loads of Peach, Pickachu, Mario and Yoshi.. is anyone actually planning on get the main "mario/pokemon" figures? (lucario being the exception)

Yeah, i'm keeping tabs on several sites(puns lol) seeing if people find them early, when target gets them in stock, etc. I'm hearing rumors of wednesday, so I'll see I suppose.

Wario vs. DonKong, Garden of Hope, Wario eats Kong, Kong shrinks, Hitbox is still the same, NO ITEMS. What the hell just happened. Just tested eating Fox too. Same thing happened. I'm 99% sure it's a Garden of Hope problem???? Been fighting Amiibos too so maybe it's them???? Huh???? HUH????

Just tested on a lvl 9 CPU. No shrinkage. Maybe it's a Garden of Hope AND Amiibo problem????

Just tested on other stages with DK Amiibo. No shrinkage

Got Smash bros finally for my Wii U. Getting my ass handed to me easily. Tried practice vs some CPU level 9 and while i can do...okay... against a single CPU, once I add more to the mix it's pure chaos. 3 Level 9 CPU Charizards vs 1 zero suit samus controlled by me ended up for the most part with me getting thrown about endlessly, could barely get an attack in. Gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong so I can be more competitive.

Fighting 3 vs 1 will not really help competitively since that almost never would happen unless the other players conspire against you

Fair enough but I still try to it as intense practice. Oddly enough vs 3 Fox I didn't do too bad, Charizard was just like Anti-zero suit samus. Once I get confident vs cPu's I'll probably do amiibo leveling and then try to compete that way to adapt. Either way I'm bound to get better.

The thing is, making your presence less obvious in 4 way smashes is actually a skill that will make you win matches. (If they are stock matches that is)

If you are targeted by all 3 characters, then it's harder to practise staying low-key.

Yeah but I love intensity. Just got off the Wii U for a break but before that I was doing Final Destination training with zero suit Samus vs 3 lucario level 9 cpu's ...at 1.5 speed...granted i was dying all over the place but its good for my eyes to practice trying to follow everything going on and dodging...though i still die like every 5 seconds.

me and my friend got 5200m in home run contest with two ganondorfs, our execution was so perfect it made me laugh my ass off after we finished it.

Although it wasn't as crazy as the 35000m ones out there, but nonetheless.

How is that even possible, for either 5200m or 35k....I thought my 1100 was good...
