New Nintendo 3DS/XL
so Nintendo have announced an upgraded version of the 3DS/XL
besides having a stronger CPU it will also have:
colored buttons, and and small extra joystick:
two extra shoulder buttons:
and it seems that you can now view the 3D effect from other angles too. there will be a new feature that makes it easier to get your pictures to a PC, and there will be a better internet browser
they have anounced a Xenoblade Chronicals remake exclusively for the New Nintendo 3DS and said that they were talking bout more titels exclusive to it (that won't be playable on the normal 3DS)
Nintendo said though that they are not planing to bring it to the west within the year. Jap is getting it Oktober 11
any thoughts?

.... I don't like the Idea of it being japan only.. or no launch in the west befor christmas.. it seems really... I don't know how to say it without making it sound like Nintendo is being racist towards the west...
I recant my statement after talking to Tom in Chat:
the new 3ds regular/xl with a 4u bundle and matching 4u faceplates.. it might sell quite well... And I wouldn't mind getting it if I can get a special 3ds (new version) with it... hmmm....
Son of a bitch, and I just upgraded to XL, and didn't find anyone to sell my old one to. Seems this Upgrade might actually be necessary too. Eh, I have a decent amount of money saved up. If the situation allows, I might be willing to invest.

I think you may not realize that Japan doesn't really care about outside Japan, they are quite nationalistic. That's why there are barely any immigrants there.
Of course nintendo is better in this respect, but it's probably mainly because it means making money or not.

That reminds me, i need to still order one of those white gamecube remotes. Those things are far more responsive and durable than the US released controllers. That way I can enjoy my Metroid Prime games more.
Not sure why there just isn't TWO slide pads, one on each slide. Oh well, when I first saw this in the morning the site had MH4 on the screen so that made me happy. Alright design I guess, I'll stick with my 3DS XL for now.
Now they've announced they will make games that only work on the new 3DSes...wow. So basically you are forcing me to pay another 190 dollars? I didn't pay the first 190 for a year of game compatibility.
Honestly considering the price will be the same as the current models, and that the one announced game that require the New 3DS is a game I couldn't get into for more than the first five minutes, I'm not too upset about the upgrade.
None of these new functions will be "necessary" and like I said, the only announced game is one I wont be buying or playing (nothing wrong with it just not my kind of game) So I can take my time saving to upgrade. I read something on reddit or twitter, someone asked an official at PAX and they said the New 3DS will at least be out for Monster Hunter 4U. IDK, with the reasonable pricing and no immediate need to upgrade, I think this will be a good transition, it'll phase out any new buyers from getting Old 3DSes and give current owners a chance to upgrade when they feel they need/want to.
My decision to upgrade will be based on when Pokemon ORAS releases, if the (hopeful) update for XY, to add the new Mega Evolutions for compatibility, improves the dropped framerate issue while using the 3D, I'll wait and see if a MH4U bundle is released, If the update doesn't come out (which means I'm boycotting Z version until the next set of games after that cause f*** you GameFreak, the techs available, use it) but also I might upgrade earlier so my precious Hoenn (*cough*BEST*cough*) version wont suffer, again if I hear the CPU increase does help that issue
I have the CPP and CPPXL, and I'm hoping we get that neat claw CPP for the novelty, so I wont need to upgrade anytime soon (also I'm not all too hyped about Smash Bros 3DS, now that its only two months away from the Wii U version, so I can use my NFC figures on my console version until I decide to upgrade)
yeah, xenoblade is the only one announced, but most likely, in about a year, 90% of games will require the new ones. Either that or they will have 20 fps all the time or something idiotic like that.
So MH4U wil have a bundle with the New 3DS at launch day. unfortunatly it's only a regular sized one... that gives hope, that it might be bundled here too... not much hope but a little ;)
Well a few games from the DS era required the DSi because of the camera, So I don't see this as too different, and honestly with the kind of games Nintendo has made, ie Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario 3D Land, even other games like Resident Evil Revelations and Monster Hunter, kinda prove the increased CPU wont be a huge need. I doubt they'll stop making regular 3DS titles at any point and just make New 3DS titles exclusively
It's going to be VERY likely any "new 3ds" only games will be Download only and only veiwable on the eshop from that system.. So I don't think it's that big of a deal. Basically you won't see the games for it specifically in store or on the eshop unless you actually own the system so it won't really cause any problems.. And the 2nd nub will work basically as it does now with the attachment, same with the extra rz/lz buttons.. So while it will add additional functions to some games if you don't get the system you wont miss out overall.
If you do get the system, well you'll get the extra benifit of interchangable covers on the regular modle, interchangable backgrounds on the screens, the better 3d angles, cameras better cpu for downloading and internet and so on... also, it's likely that thye will slowly stock more of the new 3ds' and less of the older modles but still have the older modles just for a variety of choice here in the west.. if at all.
But as I stated don't exspect to see the "new 3DS" only games at retail. and if you do see them on the eshop it won't let you buy it unless you have the correct system.. same as it is with the PSN store and vita..
^ The backgrounds should only be for the "New 3DS" as I understand it... due to the updated cpu. There will also be a "background" storefront which will likely also only be able to be veiwed/accessed if you own one of the new systems.
to be clear: you are talking about the home menu background themes? NoA(haven't heard anything bout europe yet, but i assume it will be the same) have announced a system update for the 3DS/xl in oktober that will allow you to use themes in the home menu (background image, icons, bgmusic,...) these themes will be available from a "Theme Shop" that will be accessable from the home menu (I'm not sure if you have to pay for the themes with real money or if you'll be able to buy them with playcoins though)
^ the nintendo site in japan actually showed the full spects (officially) so no rumors were needed.. They fully compared the 3ds/ll and the 'new3ds/ll' I think the video did most of these comparisions as well, just none of the games other than Xenoblade were announced and GPU was not mentioned only cpu.. everything is pretty much the same as what Nintendo has officially announced.
Again as far as games I'm still pretty sure any exclusives will be Download only especially looking at those titles if they are real..
launch lineup looks plausible to me. a mario for lauch was pretty much a given (i'm happy it is sunshine as i wanted to try it anyways), Twilight princess seams believable too imo, i don't really see how code name: STEAM would profit from the new features though... but they supose they needed a game that wasn't a port and as it was supposed to launch around the same time anyways why not give it an extra push
if this launch date is true though that means this will be the earliest date for MH4U to be released here, as it has been stated that the New 3DS will be released here in time for 4U...
i hope it will be a little sooner. on the other hand this might mean, they are planning to give us the MH4U bundle at launch like in Japan so they both might launch the same day? possibly? just spekulating here
Capcom did state that they exspected MH4U to sale 3+ million world wide before the end of March.. so yeah a bundle for 4U would fit and would sell both the system and 4U well.
Also I had mentioned earlier that the New 3DS might not have region locking on it... seems several gaming sites are starting to talk about this as well. Nintendomination, has several twitter posts about it as well.
Though I won't believe it untill I actually see it it could mean quite a bit for the new 3ds and game sales.. Basically the new 3ds will have everything that people have said the 3ds should have had from the begining... only question, what will they find to complain about now?
Also, the regular N3Ds has 2 MH faceplates... A MH4U bundle is sure to come with those, a copy of the game and a dlc code for backgrounds and music... The XL modle will also get the game, music and background but since the XL modles don't have faceplates will they get a special design or cover of some kind?
Wow even the graphical chip has gotten a power boost in the new 3ds, so even older games will run with less lag than the others...wonder if i should do a trade in when we get it.....hey...im using the same nintendo network id for both my current 3ds xl and my wii u, will i be able to transfer it over to my new 3ds if i get one of those new ones?
