| Yeah, reload's not gonna do much for ele shot. Your best options would be barrage earring, evade or attack up. | |

I don't think it's worth it. If you're used to the Wiimote, then stick to it, because getting used to two attack buttons instead of one is a nightmare. Or at least for me it was :P. In any case, I think the Wiimote is more fun than the Classic Controller. Less accurate, true, but twisting your wrist to execute the right attacks is always more fun then a few thumb movements. In my opinion, anyway. So no, I don't feel that you should buy it, especially if you're a little strict on money at the moment.

critique? i feel like this is too defensive myself and guard +2 that much better then guard +1?? or is it like eva +1 vs eva +2 where the difference is little?
(and yes i like guard boost) I never use hybrid lancing myself, as guard+2 and guard boost essentially make you an impenetrable wall. Guard+2 is mainly a counter improvement over guard+1, it enables you to not take any damage at all and counter, instead of getting pushed back a bit. But it's not that big of a deal really. Still, i never found any use in combining guard and evasion, it just seems like you should choose between one of the two (of course, you might need eva in one situation and guard in the other, but i generally don't mind to get hit once or twice in a fight. you can easily gem in AUL or something when you don't need guard boost).

| Guard boost is so situational you're better off using only against those monsters that need it, but if you can't avoid the attacks the need it, just get better at doing so.
Personally, I use a Guard+2, Eva+1, Razor Sharp, Speed Sharpen set for lancing, as I mix up evasion and countering depending on the attack. My aim is Guard+2, Evasion +2 Evade Dist Inc set though xD

Then kill ala, get Jho, helios+ and bari+ armour. Together with Agna+ (should you be a lancer) those are essentially the best endgame armours.

On your first Alatreon fight, as long as you don't go with Low Rank armour I think you're pretty much alright, especially with the Evasion + 1. Make sure you stay at full health at all times and you'll be fine!

No. No matter what skills you get, whether it's Guard + 2 or Guard Boost or whatever, if a monster attacks you from behind when you're blocking, you're still going to get hit. Don't forget that Guard Boost only allows you to block attacks that usually can't be blocked. There are very few attacks that you can't block, such as Agnaktor's laser, Ceadeus's water discharge thing, Alatreon's fireball, etc... and even then those attacks can just be dodged normally. Basically the only time Guard Boost is worth it is when you're guard-lancing against Alatreon, since when he shoots his fireball is head is vulnerable and you can get a few hits in.

| Ceadeus' water blast can partially be blocked without guard boost, because it seems to hit multiple times. Because it blows the monster backwards, i sometimes get caught late, and it appears to be blockable without G boost.
Also, if i go guard lancing, i always take guard boost should it help. Seems to give a bit more opportunity, at least as much as AUL would increase my damage.

I know what you mean, but I'm sure it is unblockable. I know this because i always use lance against Ceadeus, and once i was in front of him when he used his water blast and i stupidly decided to block. At first, the blast hit my shield and the guard animation was shown (you know, the sparks on the shield), and i was like "ha! take that gamefaqs! i blocked Ceadeus water blast without guard boost!". A second later, all my health dissapeared and i carted. It was... weird. And painful.

Aim for Trap Master, mainly. Status Atk Up might be OK to gem in too, but to be honest it doesn't make much difference at all. Also, you should gem in Recoil Down + 3 if your gun has bad recoil and + 2 isn't enough. Load Up is nice too, and you can get that from the Barrage Earring. Any other skills are your choice really. If you have a good enough talisman you can gem in Reload Speed + 1, but be careful because Reload Speed jewels reduce your Recoil skill points. - Tyrian wrote:

I think the Chaos Wing Stock is a good gun part. As for the Barrel and Frame, just go for whichever shoots the most Para S (and perhaps Sleep S if you plan on sleepbombing). Perhaps someone else can offer suggestions because I'm not that big on status gunning at the moment.

Same with ala's fireball: You'll see the block animation, but because blocking takes a tiny second to reload, the second blast hits you. Same with agna's beam. That's also why i was able to block ceadeus' blast: i only got hit in the last second because he moves backwards. God, i can't remember how often i DID get hit just before he stopped.

If by "die" you mean cart, yes, always. If by "die" you mean you failed the quest: NO. What essentially happens is this: the horn breaks off and is there for the remainder off the quest. If you don't carve it, he gets repelled, and you go back to kill him, the horn will be gone. If you don't repel him...well he'll have full sheet again.

| Sorry for double-posting, but people usually skip over answers to questions.
I wanna make a pellet set, someone got a good idea? I'll need pellet boost ofc, a bowgun that fires pellet 2 or 3, dunno which works better. Really, someone just point me in the right way, i have no idea where to start.
Also, DO NOT give me the: "don't use pellet" stuff. This set will be used either offline or with 3 other gunners. Or with a group of people i just really don't like.
