| I have a question about Elder Dragon damage carry over. I know in MHFU some monsters are called "Elder" but are not "True" elder like Kirin. I was looking on the wikia but I couldn't find a real answer. Which Elder's have damage carry over? Asking for both 3 times fainting and time up | |

| Speaking from experience, Teostra, Lunastra, Chameleos, Kushala Daora, Fatalis, Crimson Fatty, and White Fatty have damage carried over to the next time you fight it on the same quest. Usually if you have done enough damage in 25 minutes it will usually flee. If you don't, you have the remaining 25 minutes to do enough damage to it. If it's your first time on a quest and you get down to 1 minute left, i suggest abandoning. But beware: abandoning resets the damage you've done that round.
And which dragon are you fighting? might be able to offer advice, weapons to use, armor, what to eat and the like.

| Well it was more curiosity than anything. Now that you bring it up though, Kirin. I'm using LS but I get a feeling I need to try another weapon. Finally brought down Kirin but it took 15 mins and 8 mega potions.
Edit-I heard Hammer was good but Hammer/HH is a not option for me. Personal preference I just have no interest in blunt weapons.

| ^Pellet shots do massive damage to Kirin's head.
What's a good, all purpose HBG for G-Rank not made from Lao stuff? I wanna use one to do the Epic quests so I can unlock Lao.

Understandable, wasnt that much into hammers at first, then i made Juggernaut when i got to HR 7 and with dark akantor, my mind was blown. (Undamaged Teostra in under 5 min) might wanna just try it. Ceanataur Head Axe is a good start. As Armoured Barioth said, pellet shots with a HBG are the best route, but if you want to stick to LS, go with Smolder Dragonsword. (lao shan ls) As to your question AB, it depends on your play style. I find that Vor Cannon works wonders for an all around. (black fatalis)

| Hmm... Time for some G training I guess!
The problem with meleeing Kirin is that pretty much all of his attacks are localised where he is, so it can be tough. Hammers are also very effective because they're so maneuverable, lance too. I wouldn't recommend GS or DS since they require you to stand still for so long to get good damage off. EDIT: Waitwaitwait. Vor Cannon is high rank. Would it work ok in G Rank?

| @Armoured Barioth: I know it's a little late but if you still need the information: for Lao always go with the hammer.
@veryAnnoying@jay: what trouble exactly do you have with the fights? not enough time? getting killed fast? just don't hitting the monster? could you be a little more specific, please? What clearly will help is getting to know the monsters. try going on a quest just to watch the monster wach it's attacks and learn to dodge them learn all their patterns. if you look closely you will see there are mostly some little signs so you know what the next attack will be. if you have problems seeing all that by your own, videotutorials could help. or just watch videos of other people hunting the monster it can teach you not only the monsters patterns but also can give you some idea how and when best to attack.
Also try out different weapon types. maybe you find one that better suits you than the one or ones you're currently using.
and the only thing else I can tell you is: keep your equipment up to date/rank, hit it till it dies and don't get hit^^ ;)

Practice timing, reading monsters moves so they will run into the third charge. Or trap them and use it on then. With Great Sword, I use sniping (Run in, unsheathe draw hit, run away, sheathe). Worked for MHFU. Just triple charge when asleep or trapped. Otherwise use another weapon. And don't get hit! ;)

I would suggest that you take the quest, and observe from a distance how the monster moves, or alternatively, you can take a few dummy runs, where you go out with no intention on completing the quest, and just learning the monster's moveset, trust me it helps when you know the monsters' moveset. ;)

| post your comments about monster hunter in the right section jay. this is the mhfu section, a second gen game, and you're talking about third gen monsters. is it monster hunter tri, or monster hunter tri ultimate?
with the easy mobs like g jaggi, quropeco etc. it's easier to start with a faster mobile weapon, such as sns or longsword.

switch axe and longsword Switch Axe is not in the Freedom series, that came to exist in Tri and it's sequels. Longsword should be available if you have materials, it sometimes can be created via side path from a Greatsword, if it's not available just rank up a bit, it'll unlock.
