Hey guys, been long time since I've posted here. =)

Anyways...

With all the graphics so eye-candy and so detailed I can count the quest giver's eyelashes and rathian armor scales... but why are the weapon so.. so low resulution in comparison?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL0Sz1olSvI&NR=1

If you pause at 0:02, you will see exactly what I mean. Compared to everything else being high reso, this thing will certainly catch any eye, especially when everything around it is hd. Same goes for all other weapons.

A mistake on capcom's part or lazyness?

Actually the weapons are a lot better resolution than that. Look at a better video and I might suggest one of the western MH3U specifically for the WiiU.

Also keep in mind what you see on a YouTube recording will never be as good as what you get actually playing it and seeing it first hand.

Well I have checked things like trailers for MH3U.. and it shows the same low reso for weapons. Its not the videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI75zyCLCG0&feature=player_embedded

This video quality is about as high as it gets. But if you pause at around 1:25 when the 4 hunters appear, you will notice the weapon resolution is pretty low compared to the armors. On thing like lance shields, it will be very noticeable.

But.. its not game breaking issue, I'm only curious why when they put so much time to make everything look so very nice.

I guess it just depends on where and what ya look at.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

But I think until we play the game first hand (specifically the WiiU version) it could go either way and may depend on the weapon as well.

It's only really noticeable to me when the camera is zoomed in a little on the hunter. From the regular hunting camera angle it isn't all that noticeable, so I'm not too fussed about weapon textures being of a lower quality.

I get what you're saying, though. This IS an HD game, surely all of it should be in HD rather than most of it.

I've noticed this since the first few trailers of Ultimate.

The look like upscaled 3DS textures, rather than being up-res'd they just.... Did "that", which makes no sense to me, really..

I guess it would have been troublesome with online communications and 3DS connectivity (performance wise, with super res'd hunters with glorious armor mixes XD)

Don't make excuses for Capcom. With the technology today we should have no problems with such things. Not to mention the 3ds version isn't actually online wifi play (from what I heard unless I missed something, which is possible) the Wii U version should not have crappy looking weapons for any reason at all, especially since for the moment, it's more on-par with the xbox / ps3 hd graphics now.

The Wii U one better be full HD, weapons included.

I think everyone is jumping the gun here. Wait until February 21st when we get the demos and can play the game for both versions first hand. Until then I wouldn't trust the videos and screen shots fully.

When a games on an older console looks nicer graphics wise than the next entry in the series that is suppose to be in HD, I don't need to compare it to anything else. that's just obvious that someone got lazy during the development. Nova hit the nail on the head; theres no excuse for that in this day & age for such a careless mistake.

Oto: compare online video and pictures to each other of MH Tri before its release to what we are seeing of MH3U now before it's release. Keep things fair and in perspective here because you are comparing something you've seen first hand to mostly YouTube video of something that isn't even released here yet. Just saying.

And as far as the HUD is concerned, its customizable. You make it look how you want if you are using the Gamepad/3DS so if you don't like it just change it around.

What's the difference between them? :/
They're almost the same controller... Except one has a touch screen and gyro while the other has like 10x more battery life....

Still, the Gamepad isn't bad to use over a classic controller pro.

CC Pro hooked to the wii mote, but the battery drain on the wiimote was so weak it was laughable. it served as a wireless transmitter nothing more, the not needing to send motion control info increased the battery life. and yeah some use the Wii mote but that style never really took off. as for the touch screen, i personally just refuse to believe a touch screen and gyro controls (whatever that means, guessing motion controls) will be better than a good old controller for MH

Granted it does really boil down to preference but most of the higher end players / soloists prefer the CC Pro simply because its more responsive (and the fact that it mimics the PSP controls which the majority of Monster Hunter games were on, so we're already used to the similar button layout).

That controller style seems to be popular among wiki members.

(gyrosensors/tilt, motion controls, whatever. I don't see it as motion controls like the Wiimote was. As far as I know, motion controls aren't useable in Ultimate... Could you imagine swinging that gamepad to swing a blade? LMAO)
I guess, but selecting items on the fly without cycling through them with L really helps out (imo).
That's probably the only plus I can think of lolXD besides moving the health bar and map on the touchscreen so that you can enjoy the grand vistas which makes looking at the touch screen even more distracting and could cause your performance to suffer and it would help with speed comboes making them always accessible(I think)

Yeah, plus you can use both of the controls at once, I believe.
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

lol I thought we were talking about the Wii U controller Pro for a minute there.

I actually quite like the design of the HUD as shown in the video in the opening post. It looks a lot less cluttered, and will probably be the style I go with. (I'm guessing the map was on the gamepad, though honestly, no map at all wouldn't be a hardship for me, save for when using perception)

As for controls, I'll probably use both, to see if the gamepad feels more comfortable than the CCPro or not. I got the Premium WiiU pack that came with one, so I thankfully don't have to go out and spend even more money to find my preferred playing style.

As for the topic at hand, I'd say I wasn't too fussed, if it wasn't for the fact that CAPCOM have been sitting on this little project for over a year. If they're using standard definition textures for the weapons in a high definition game, then they're exactly the kind of company I've come to expect them to be with all their prattling about, of late. But to be fairly honest, so long as the weapons look awesome, and they do the job they're intended, I'm fine with whatever. It'll lower my opinion of CAPCOM even more than they've already forced me to lower it, but it won't cause much of an issue for me when it comes to playing the game.

But like everyone has said (as far as I've read), I'll just wait for the games to come out and pass judgement then. I'd try out the demo, but to be fairly honest, I don't really want to waste my time on a demo of a game we, for all intents and purposes, should already have in our possession.

Oto, I haven't seen the game in person so I wouldn't assume anything as it seems many on this thread have. The only "nerve" any one ever hits with me is that they automatically think something is fact when they have no first hand experience of it.

And I think you may be getting the wrong idea. I am in no way irked just confused over how someone (yourself included) can take something for fact that has not been "proven true" yet and can't be proven true until at least the demo is released and you play it for yourself and see it for yourself. Until then I think everyone should just relax. If at that time it is proven that yes the resolution and graphics on any part of the game are poorly done then there is a legitament complaint but not until then. Before then (to me) it just seems like some needless whining about something that you don't know for a fact yet and may not even be true.
