SnS weapons

Hi all i'm a complete noob to MH series and starting to learn the game in SP but wondering what weapons and armor i should make first before i waste my mats.

I hear SnS needs ele weapons but i dunno what i should be aiming for first any tips for a newbie ? also sorry if this has been posted before :/

well ive not been playing long on MH3U, but i did mess around with SnS and from what ive seen so far your first focus shouls be Lightning and Fire elements, that should get you through the bulk of the low level and into the high level.

Yeah, Sword and Shield gets a lot of it's damage from element damage, so you should try to use one that has an appropriate element for the monster you are fighting. Like using fire for an Azuros or ice for a Qurupeco. If you don't know what elements a monster is weak to, then you can fight it once (I use a pure raw weapon for that one time) and look at it's armor to see what that is weak to.
