I've become a Dual Sword user (currently liking Brother Flames and Bloodwings +), but I also know my way around a hammer.

Can you recommend a good LR Dual Sword and armor set or a good LR Hammer and armor set to do one of the following:

1) Farm Ceadeus (then should I go for the armor or is there a good LR DS or Hammer made from Ceadeus parts?)

2) Defeat Purple Ludroth in the quest to kill one in the Misty Peaks (I currently wear LR Wroggi Armor to prevent P. Ludy from poisoning me.)

Ceadeus doesnt have a Hammer, and his armor is kind of useless in HR, I'd wait to farm him till after Goldbeard, since a ZZZXZ Helios set is an amazing G Rank set. and Full X Gunner is an awesome Bow set

Wrog Armor should be enough to get you through HR, you can upgrade its defense or just make the High Rank version (same skills I believe)

Anyone know if Status Atk +1 affects the Paralysis Phial? Not that I should be using it at the best of times but I just started a new female character using switchaxes, got the Barroth swax and dat Bnahabra armour

the Status Atk skill affects all your attacks that deal status damage, even throwing knives and Tranq Bombs, so it should definitely affect the Phials of SAs

That God's Isle LBG... What's the easiest way to get it? I was thinking of maybe trying to get a "strong" lock and just farm Ancient Shards in the G rank Volcano. Also, does anyone know if charm tables effects your chances on getting the God's Isle?

Keep farming in the volcano for ancient shards. As far as I know, the cursed tables are supposed to not give ancient or rust shards, but I'm pretty sure that's a myth.

I was wondering. How well would 3 people using the God's Archipelago with Status Attack +2, Recoil Down +2, and Load Up do against the G Rank Alatreon if we tried Sleep Bombing it.

And if Sleep Bombing wouldn't kill it (Which I'm sure it won't) how well does Clust Lvl 2 work against it?

I'm mainly wondering what would be our most viable option if my two brothers and I tried using 3 God's Archipelagos against the G Rank (And High Rank) Alatreons.

G Rank Ala probably has 1.5x more health than HR Ala. We do not have concrete information so I am using data from solos I had. HR Ala takes about 6 minutes to solo if done right. Sleep bombing in G rank is also useless because of the health, defense, etc; multipliers that exist, and the amount of damage per second by bombs is significantly lower than the amount of damage per second done by weapons, in this case ammo.

Also, the way I farm G Rank Ala is using a God's Arch person as our status and supportive-offense person, hammer as our stunner and better supportive-offense, and two other people, such as GS, LS, etc; as our main offensive people. It's certainly possible with 3 people in about 10-14 minutes.

My general SnS/DS set has stamina recover up, evasion +1, and honed blade. I have to option of putting either razor sharp or element attack up in. Which one should I do? I feel I would do more damage with EAU but sharpening weapons mid-fight irritates me and waiting for the opportunity to sharpen, and attacking with a reduced sharpness level, would be the down side of EAU. Also, if I use my slime DS bombardier or razor sharp? Same reasons. Thanks!

I have DS armor set that uses Bushido. I think it's one of the best slime DS sets out there, and it might be on the armor set library. If it isn't, I'll tell you later.

For your first question, please tell me the weapon attack stats, with and without EAU. Also please tell me how long it takes your weapon to shift down to a lower sharpness level with and without razor sharp.

Well, the Gamepad has a built in mic. Probably doesn't have the best quality, though. You might be able to find a connector that puts both jacks into one and try that, though.

I believe I've seen it on there. It's probably about the same as the set I have dedicated to bushido. Awaken, sharp +1, sharpness, evasion +1, and bombardier.

Plesioth DS, raw: 336 element(EaU): 420(504). About a minute before I need to sharpen, two if the monster is moving too much.

Miralis and Ancient shard DS I know EaU is better because there is so much sharpness anyway.

Ceadeus SnS, raw: 364 element(EaU): 240(288). Between 2 and 4 minutes to lose sharpness.

A. lagi DS, raw: 336 element(EaU): 360(432). Again 2 minutes max.

Thanks for the help!

PostSubject: Re: Monster Hunter U Q&A thread   Monster Hunter U Q&A thread - Page 42 Icon_minitimeWed Jul 16, 2014 10:37 pm

Yep that's the slime DS set I use.

I will work with the assumption that you will be attacking with considerate speed, even if the monster is moving a lot. I'll also be working without weapon multipliers since idk what those are for this game.
I also don't use sns. Ever. Whatever my work shows for DS should apply for SnS since they work similarly.
By constant attack, I usually refer to the standard SnS, and what I use for DS (demon dance)

Proof:
Spoiler:

You can clearly see that both DS are better with EaU than with razor sharp since the total average damage output for a 5 min, 10 min, and 15 min quest will be higher for the two DS with EaU rather than razor sharp.

However, the difference isn't that big. Plesi DS set with EaU does only an extra 6% damage on average. That means that the Plesi DS set with EaU does an extra 22 hits on average for any time length, so that's about two demon dances worth of damage (not a lot). That means you'll finish the quest 11 seconds faster with EaU than with razor sharp. So it's up to you if you want to finish the quest 11 seconds faster.

As for A. Lagi DS, EaU will only do 8% more damage than if you used a set with razor sharp. Again, this is insignificant, so it's up to you if you want to do a quest 11-20 seconds faster.

Thank you Sai! This is awesome. I was hoping that there would be a larger damage difference so it would be an easier decision. But like many things it ends up being a wash with other quest variables weighing more heavily than this. I'll try both and see which one suits me better.

I still need to register the the bushido set in my armor sets. I have all the pieces I just need to make some room(why so few slots!?). When I can use it regularly it's going to be sweet.

Thank you again. :D

Well, the integral symbols were deleted off my post. I guess the host website deleted them. I'll edit that later.

I have recently began learning the Long Sword.

I read that the three armor skills most vital to LS'ing are Focus, Evasion, and Sharpness.

I just began (again) - and have LR Hunter's Armor right now.

Of those three armor skills mentioned above, which one should I focus on first?

However, this time, when I wish to change weapon styles, I'll just change styles - no restarting.

If you're still around, here's my answer:

Well, where ever you read that focus is vital to LS needs credibility check.
Sharpness+1 is always a must for any weapon unless it can't apply. Evasion isn't vital but preferred for certain monsters, such as the Narga family, but ultimately it will not aid in a lot of DPS for most monsters. Since you are low rank, not so many skills are available to you, so I'd recommend getting armor that gives evasion+1, and gem in attack up. You could always eat for Felyne Polisher, which works similarly to fast sharpen skill.

This interested me, so here's my two cents.
If you want an early set that can benefit you while using Long Sword, I'd suggest picking up Volvidon armor. It has evasion +1 and Tremor Res so you can keep moving, and also comes with Attack Up Small. From there, you can gem it to either have Attack Up Medium or Evasion +2 pretty easily.

Hi

I have a question about rewards

If I soft reset the game after killing the monster and hunt him once again, will the rewards change or will they stay the same?

Also, is it worth hunting for Brachydios Gem on High Rank to upgrade the Dios weapons, or should I go straight to G Rank with whatever I have on me ATM?

The soft reset I don't think would work, I think the games uses up a certain amount of random numbers just to generate the town, and unless you did the fight the exact same way you would use up different RNGs everytime

Depending on how many weapons you have, it may be better to wait on the Dios weaps since gems are easier to get in G rank. But if the dios are your only weapons/you don't have a weapon for every monster your gonna fight between now and the double dios urgent you should be fine.
