| Another question.
When you use the Classic Controller in the Wii U version, do you use the zl or zr buttons as shoulder buttons or the l and r buttons as shoulder buttons? I only have a basic classic controller (not a classic controller pro) so the game would be very hard to play with the zl and zr buttons due to how uncomfotable it is to use.
I hope I don't have to get a new controller as I can't afford one right now as I have to save up for MH3U as I have just used all my savings to buy myself a wii u.

| Hey all -
Does armor weight AND weapon type determine how fast your character can move? For instance, can I use a heavy bowgun and a lighter set of armor for faster movement?
Or is your speed determined by weapon you use and that's that?
I think it would be cool if it was a combination of both, but then again, still learning this game here! =D

| Equipment in Monster Hunter doesn't have any sort of weight stat, so your movement speed is completely based off of what weapon type you're using. | |

| slightly off topic, but i would like to point out volke, that while your weapon determines your speed it also determines what armor you can wear.
there are 2 types of armor: blademaster armor for most weapons and gunner armor for bowguns and bows. helms usually seem to be wearable regardless, but still have skills relevant to one group or the other.
when you're making armor make sure you make the right kind of armor. also, when you're choosing which skills you want on your armor the skills don't actually affect you unless you break a certain threshold in that skill, usually 10 or 15 points.
you'll get a feel for how the armor system works as you use it, but at first it took me a bit to figure out that 5 points in a few stats did nothing for me.

| I have a question regarding local play.
Is it possible for two Wii U's to play MH3U together locally? I mean, it has local play with other 3DS users... It's like turning the Wii U into a 3DS or something, so I'm wondering if two Wii U's can connect in the same manner that's all.

Is it because the Wii U version says "connect to 3DS" or something? Technically, it's possible... you're basically asking to be able to set up a MH3U LAN/WAN party. The hardware is there to do it, so a software update would be needed to set up a LAN game. Essentially, Nintendo would have to develop the equivalent of Xbox's System Link, and MH3U would have to be updated to support that mode. Doable, but unlikely - LAN parties are the mark of hardcore gamers, and that hasn't exactly been Nintendo's target market since Sony and MS got into the console business. Not saying it won't, but I wouldn't bet on it. Although a MH3U LAN party sounds like a lot of fun...

^ That would also have to be up to Capcom As well... Remember MH for the most part is focused on "Portable" gaming. With home consoles the mindset (for most places) is that most people or households are only going to have one home console of the same kind that all the family members use while everyone in the houshold may own the same portable system. So for the most part adding a "Local conetion" for most home console games during the development process is just an extra step that even if added relatively few would use. So the cost and time does not equal the benifits.

Or, would having both work out, or would they just have overlapping abilities that made doing so pointless?

| ^ Depends on the buff or what not. Most "buffs" wouldn't stack in this way but healing would be fine. And with the mic you can coordinate what you are doing much easier. While one is working on strength boasts the other could be doing armor or healing. So if you work "as a team" and use the systems features and the abilities wisely, it will work out amazingly well. Otherwise you'd just be stumbling over each other. | |

Hunting Horns have their own column of buffs next to the name list in a hunt. This means that any buff on the left side (from pills, berries, drugs, felyne skills) WILL stack with any hunting horn buffs (the column on the right side). Example, one can take a might pill and play the attack up song and get the attack boost from BOTH. I'm not sure about resistances since resistance berries were removed from portable 3rd, but I imagine it would work the same if they're in 3U. One more example: Hunter A uses a Dual Sword with 200 attack power. (200) Hunter A with wide range takes a might pill granting everyone +25 attack power. (225) Hunter B plays the Attack up (Small) song granting everyone + 10 attack power. (235) Hunter B recites the song again granting the Attack Up Boost, giving everyone +5 more power. (240)

| Since SWAX grow recently into my 2nd main, i'd like to ask about Phials in 3 Ultimate. I try to group my questions.
1) Is it still Power Phial over Element like it was in Tri? I see many good SWAX'es for instance from Guran·Miraosu or Alatreon with Element. Is it still worse than other SWAX'es with Power Phial? I know that phials affects only sword mode and if you use them in axe mode the results can be equal. But i'm askin about DMG overall, which one can deal more dmg.
2) I see there are many new - to me - phials like Paralysis, Exhaust or Poison. How does they work?
If i'm saying somethin wrong please correct me.

If i'm saying somethin wrong please correct me. Not sure if power phial is still better, but I'd assume it's still a 25% boost to raw and thus still awesome. The para phial was in Tri (I think it was exclusive to the Barroth swaxe) and the other two work the same way as it; they apply the status named in the phial to the monster. The exhaust phial also has the ability to inflict KO when you hit the head.

| It suprises me that they add so many element phials swax'es in this game. So my assumption was either they didn't do the their homework and make same mistake as with ala swax in Tri or boost elemental to make it compete with power phial. Also there's possibility they nerfed power phial to balance it with elemental. It's just my guessing, it will be good if someone can confirm it or deny. - Quote :

Yeah i got that, but still need more explenation. What if swax got Paralysis as element and Paralysis Phial? It boost chance of paralysing the monster by some degree? Same goes with poison. Also what about Dragon phial? Quick example: Jinouga Subspecies swax: 1196 RAW, Dragon 260, Sharpness purple (considering set with S+1), Power Phial. Alatreon swax: 1058 RAW, Dragon 500, Sharpness purple, Element phial. Jho swax: 1288 RAW, Dragon 100 (Awaken needed), Sharpness purple, Dragon Phial. Which one is better and why?

Which one is better and why? "Better" is always hard to define, especially since we don't know if the phials behave like they did in Tri. It also depends on what you're hunting - not everything is weak to Dragon. I did check how Awaken effected the Dragon and Para phial Swax in Tri using the damage calculator on http://mhtri.comeze.com... and Awaken only affected Axe mode. No boost to Sword mode. Again, whether this mechanic is changed in MH3U remains to be seen. It does look like they boosted element though - no elemental Swax in Tri has an elemental power greater than 360 (that was the Ala series), so at first glance, it looks like they did some rebalancing.

I know right. By "better" i mean hypothetical situation when someone is facing monster weak to dragon. So he have a choice - one of those three swax'es mention above. Each one with different phial, yet related in some way to dragon. But thx for clearing that out, so i recon we have to wait and test it ourselves to really see how phials work on 3U. I was hoping someone draw some conclusions from our japanese brothers.

Yes you can get "everything" offline. But be aware the difficulty of 3u is much greater. I actually made a post that explains all your questions asked here: https://mhwiki.forumotion.net/t9492-do-your-village-quests-first
